You kidding me? Cars were built much worse than now, you get 300,000 miles out of a car (I have) now, and you'd be lucky to get 50,000 back in the fifties. These machines have definitely had work done to them
parents all ways said cars/trucks back then, were built to last and man do i believe it. this is amazing seeing such jewels of the past still work after so much time in the elements. im sure there are people who can fabricate parts for this truck but seeing how it works. id keep that way. :)
WOW! 1926 Mack Bulldog-with pneumatic tires too! This truck will still be running 100 yrs from now-the toughest trucks ever built. Do not restore this beauty!
That's the same type AC mack that Howard Carter used when he was in Egypt in 1922 looking for treasure. He used it to carry heavy lifting gear, as the camels could not carry it.
Yes you do live close enough. It's near Schoharie, NY, aprox. 35 miles west of Albany. I am at this show every year and I go down from the Burlington area. The large 4 cyl. engine is a Worthington diesel. And I think it's a 1924 Mack.
So where is the "Gas Up"? (Besides Gallupville, that is). Looks like Virginia or something, but I wouldn't know. I live in VT, and I was wondering if I lived close enough to make the drive or not.
Wow, that's awesome! I love it. So that's what a real Mack truck looks like? LOL, I can't believe how slow that engine runs. Loud valve noise too...ticatoc...tikatoka...clutclut...etc. Pretty cool. What year is that, like 1925? And does anyone know about that big stationary gas engine at 1:44? I wish the camera went a bit lower. I can't make out what the name on the side is, other than it ends in "...OTON" I think. Pretty cool, exposed valve lifters and everything.
I know what you mean. just restored a m3a1 scout car still getting it to run fully restoerd though.
than you got my brother 1928 model D tractor when we got it [restored now] it was a piece of junk was sitting for years in a field and it just started.
мне сразу вспомнился фильм "Джиперс-криперс" :)

@bowers272 It's debatable whether or not plastic is better than metal for bodies

That Mack is a bit like a zombie, it looks like its been dead for quite a while, but still going strong. Wonderful

I don't know how that Mack can look so bad and run so good. My crap looks good, but I can't get it to run.
How does that bed lift? Some mechanical system I assume. What year did hydrolics come in?
