  • Fuck fuck fuck bugger shit shit

  • Good Job, Bertie. You and Lionel are the greatest team ever.

  • Way to go Bertie

  • A fine man - and we beat those German bastards.

  • A great speech by itself. A greater achievement by any man who was afraid of public life, public speaking and unwanted responsibility. This is an example greatness.

  • @isg1997 because that would be brilliant!

  • Some have turned this into deep political meaning. I simply see a man who never wanted the job doing his best. That's the best that any of us could hope of OURSELVES. Do your best--your duty, as the British say (which I believe is simply doing one's best).

  • @philco6505

and thats why people liked it, because he didn't sound like a prince, or any person of nobility, he sounded like the average everyday person, someone they could relate to.

  • God save the King! For God, King and Country! Long live Britannia and Lusitania! Allies since 1373!

From a Portuguese to my British brothers - I salute you all.

  • I can hear Queen Elizabeth II's diction in her father's.

  • very inspiring.

  • I listened with Beethoven's 7th Symphony, Movement II for the full effect.

  • I'm a little weird...I've synced this video and the movie 'The King's Speech' while the tv is muted....beautiful.

  • Coleman your a fucking fool

  • The ideology that one family should rule over the rest of it's peoples MUST die. It is Capitalism at it's purest, and Capitalism MUST die as well. Both will come to pass...

  • @Yoseman1 Our day will come, comrade.

  • @michaelwuzthere Not while we Monarchists live. You can send us to gulags and to concentration camps, but an idea never dies. If democracy is for the majority of a people to decide on what regime they want to have - and 72% of the British want the Monarchy - you only have to respect. But I do forget that revolution is the only way for Communism to come in. They always come in second - like in the February revolution... they had to resort to revolution (October) to get to power.

  • @AvatarMarxon90 In the end, the meek shall inherit the earth.

  • @michaelwuzthere A religious Communist? Now that's a new one. Next thing I will see pigs flying. That earth you're refering to, is the Kingdom of Heavens - where in fact, there will be no differences between us - Kings, Presidents, Communists or Fascists, etc (if they have a good heart and deserve God's mercy).

  • @AvatarMarxon90 When did I say I'm religious? I'm an atheist.

  • @michaelwuzthere I apologize then - my bad, I guess. But why can't you respect the majority, if they in fact want a Constitutional Monarchy? That's what I don't understand, really :/

I can't see Communists commenting on China or North Korea... or Cuba. And when they comment they only say they're not Communist countries. *sigh*

  • @AvatarMarxon90

"A happy slave is the worst enemy of freedom."

You cannot have freedom and have separate class structure built into the system. Once people embrace science and reason and accept that there is no "God" giving authority to the criminals who call themselves "royal", then the people will fight for truth and justice and in doing so will emancipate themselves from capitalism and hierarchy.

  • @michaelwuzthere But in Communism you serve your party masters as well? You had to serve Lenin or Stalin. I'm sorry, but the essence of Marx is quite impossible to achieve with humans.

  • @AvatarMarxon90 In 'communism', the state and all hierarchy is abolished. It is very much possible, and is more possible now than at any previous time in human history. Just look up "the Venus Project".

  • @michaelwuzthere The problem is not whether communism can be achieved, but that it, like any ideology, is merely a tool.

Those with power LOVE that you have an ideology where the state should control everything. It makes things so much easier for them to control you. They can even pretend they are going to give you, your utopia, THEN betray you.

This is what happened in both the USSR and Mao's China. The intellectuals led the revolutions then were violently purged afterwards.

  • @michaelwuzthere You're just arguing the "ideal". Any ideology should be evaluated on the EFFECTS, from man's flawed implementations.

Democracy for example, tends to lead to debt-based societies and government dependency with a high level of hypocrisy/lies due to the election process. Communism's implementation was a disaster worse than Nazism (in terms of millions dead). Monarchy is disliked because it emphasizes servitude instead of pride, but had the best effects ironically.

  • @Cyrus255

If you're going to argue with outright lies, don't respond to me. And don't respond if you will insist that all 'communism' or 'socialism' equals stalinism.

You're really trying to argue that communism is a tool to control people while at the same time trying to convince me that a monarchy - a system based on anti-scientific nonsense and catalyst for the Dark Ages - is a good system? I am flabbergasted by the stupidity of people. Look up "Zeitgeist" or "The Venus Project" for facts..

  • @Yoseman1 *cough* North Korea? *cough*

Anyways, the United Kingdom is the oldest democracy on western Europe. Monarchs have lost most of their powers after King George I - to Parliament. Do you want a better regime than that? Communism is the same crap as Capitalism. Well... at least in most of the Capitalist countries I'm allowed to speak my mind - not so sure in Communist countries.

  • @Yoseman1

well really, what do you want, because the best humanity has to offer is a Democratic Republic, and that shit was good, but it past just as much. capitalism as been proven to fail, so has communism, as has monarchy, and socialism is not the best, and anarchy will fail because people will eventually want to go back to a society with some namesake of order and security. every single ordered ideology is not perfect, it just works for some people.

  • you still stumbled over the Ws Bertie

  • I for one am eternally grateful to all the souls who fought, sacrificed, and paid the ultimate price...so we could all live free. Do you think you'd be voicing your opinions and bickering with each other over whose right/wrong had they not fought for us and triumphed over the greatest evil? How many of us would heed that call today? Pause and give thanks. Respect our veterans. They were and are, the bravest of the brave!

  • Technically the royal prerogative has the ability to give pardons, dissolve parliaments and recognise other countries and of course technically the Queen has control of the royal prerogative.

In practice government officials tell the Queen when to use the Royal prerogative and the last time a monarch dissolved a government without the government asking to be dissolved was in the 1700s.

  • The 17 dislikes are Nazis

  • @scradleeee 18 now lol

  • So many constitutional experts on YouTube! Makes me both envious of their knowledge and reassured of the fact that there is actually no constitution in the UK and that the monarch remains our head of state. Whom God preserve!

  • Makes me proud to be English!

  • thumbs up if you are (or just finished) watching "The King's Speech".

  • @DummyPlug004 4 times now actually. Just finished the 4th watching now.

  • @DummyPlug004 Good one!

  • @RichardElden

Someone needs to go back to school. :)

The Monarch has no power to declare any act of war and it has been that way for a very long time; in fact Parliament decides to declare war and the Prime Minister delivers the speech declaring it. This was not the speech announcing the entry into WWII - that speech was delivered by Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.

Perhaps learning a bit about what you're talking about before trying to act like a stuck-up smart ass aye? :)

  • @MrHamPurger First of all you are wrong. The Monarch is Head of State and therefore has the same powers as the President of the United States, and the Prime Minister has more powers like the Vice President as Head of the United States Senate.

  • @MalliotJuane You clearly have no idea how either form of government works, do you? Please be aware that when you pull shit out of your ass and attempt to flaunt it around town as a credible argument that there are others, a great deal I imagine, who know far more about a lot of things than you.

The Monarch has virtually no power save over the Navy and calling Parliment to order. That's it, can't declare war, can't veto law, can't do jack all besides. Go brush up on your monarchial procedure.

  • @MalliotJuane

Don't try and correct me when I had to put up with a ridiculous Government Policies lesson explaining ALL the roles and responsibilities of the Monarch and the British Government. The Monarch has no power to make laws at all, in any way shape or form any more - it is now solely down to Parliament, once they have agreed on a law and scrutinized it enough, the Prime Minister presents it to the Monarch to undergo "Royal Ascent" (aka, she signs a bit of paper...that's all).

  • @RichardElden Fyi, it was not the King's decision, he does not hold the right to declare war. The decision was made by the Cabinet and Parliament. The UK had been pledged to protect Polish independence, that is why they declared war, very similar to the reason the UK entered WWI. You need to get your facts straight before you slander the name of such a great man.

  • Man, I was hoping that he actually had bounced on to the "P".

  • @Cerberusballs Me too, but you can hear him bounce on the "D" when he says "spoken with the same a-depth of feeling for each one of you..." at 0:28

  • @toms1266 HEy, I heard it too! I was also hoping to hear him bellow out "shit FUCK Bugger" at :35.

  • i just got done watching the movie and i have to say what a brave man!

  • does anyone know where i can find the text?

  • God Save The Queen!

  • @RichardElden Mussolini lol. He might as well have led Latvia. The Italians were run through like school children.

  • I heart King George VI.

  • God Save The Queen.

  • @ajgor1974 He's the King it's his daughter who's the Queen.

  • where can I find the text from this?

  • @RichardElden we declared war because they invaded poland after Hitler ignored peace promises. and although the soviets were very evil, no doubt about that, they were our allies and were key to winning the war. after that there was little we could've done. Have you seen the size of russia? Going to war with them after a war torn world would've actually destroyed the surface of the earth.

  • @RichardElden pointless and unnecessary?? what the hell are you on about! I'm sorry if getting involved means defending your homeland against people who flew over the english channel. It wasn't George the VI who started the war, but major respect for the king that helped lead us through it. Saving the lives of europe isn't pointless, liberating overrun allies isn't unnecessary, its very important, and we would be a hell of a lot worse off if we hadn't fought.

  • GEORGE WASHINGTON RULES!!!!!

  • Put this civilized and aristocratic determination against any speech made by Hitler and you know why the war was won.

  • Can I find the speech written down somewhere?? PLease answer ASAP

  • For a stutterer he did a fantastic job. I stutter...and even with the proper voice therapy I got, I still would have had trouble with this kind of thing!

  • I'm Australian, and as such, happily, proudly, still a subject of this magnificent man's daughter.

  • @MrBanksyman The movie presents a film/speech by (3.) Adolf Hitler in juxtaposition to (377.) King George's inauguration film/speech. An eloquent metaphor for freedom vs. totalitarianism, right vs. might and altruism vs. self-aggrandisement.

  • I am proud to be from Norfolk.

  • i wish i were british! :(

  • @ahobbit111. You are British, don't tell other Americans but America is really just an independent part of the British Empire, ;-) After all, you speak the Queen's English, spelling colour without a "u" doesn't matter all that much.

  • @MrSelidor7

    thanks!

  • @MrSelidor7 sweet...cuz I wanna be british too! lol

  • @ahobbit111 be canadian, its close enough ;)

  • @ahobbit111 move and nationalise

  • King George VI is my hero.

  • Well said Lordxeras, This speech shows a man doing his best to be the leader, and set the standard and example "his peoples" expected of him,at the outbreak of a terrible world war,A man who had his own hardships and problems and who never expected or wanted to be king. But did a magnificent job.

  • Why is every comment a reply to something?

  • @xxnubpkerxx lol i dont know but mine is one now =D

  • @JazReviews @gamblemadman

Why the fuck are you two talking about Dianna? save it for a forum or a video about Diana, or just argue on each other's profiles.

  • @IMASIANSNIPA

    Thta's what I'm doing right now! ;D

  • The King's speech is probably the greatest movie I have ever seen.....after I saw it I had nothing but respect for the royal family and the british people

  • @mercuryrulz Please don't. As a British person, I can say a large majority of Britain's people resent the royal family, mostly due to Dianna's death and the way the Queen and Prince Charles conducted themselves.

Some would say it was the royal family themselves that had Dianna killed, which is definitely possible.

  • @JazReviews Yeah its possible.

Its also possible that Diana was an alien.

    -_-

  • @gamblemadman Don't be foolish and naive, read into the subject. there's more than enough points to justify the conspiracy of an assassination against Dianna.

James Andanson a witness of the "crash", he later commited suicide, that's convenient.

But who kills themselves by locking themselves in a BMW and then torching the whole car. When he was found his head was detached and lay between the front seats.

  • @JazReviews Not trying to be rude ... but I think that people who believe that the Queen is capable of ordering assassinations are a little bit simple to say the least.

    No offence.

  • @gamblemadman Pay attention, who said the Queen ordered any hits?

Though the Royal Family were very dissapproving of Dianna's soon to be wed Mohammed, all I'm saying is it's very likely that the secret service had Dianna killed. She was ignoring conduct, she interacted with members of the public like a real person. Royal family didn't like that, they had no control over her.

  • @JazReviews I think you need to do a little bit of research on the secret service mate ... the royal family have absolute zero influence over their actions. (I was paying attention).

  • @gamblemadman Who are you kidding buddy?

  • @JazReviews LOL. I think you need to know that I destroy "truthers", using nothing but logic. (Something that they generally lack).

    You have been warned.

  • @gamblemadman Oh do you now? Well the thing is you haven't applied one spec of logic since you've commented. I've provided "logical" reasons why I think that it is definitely possible Dianna could have been assassinated.

Tell me my friend, tell me of this research you have your end on the British Secret Service, enlighten us... preferably without scurrying off to Wikipedia.

  • @JazReviews And I agreed with you ... it is definately possible. Plausable? Absolutely not.

And no ... you havent supplied logic. You have supplied motive.

Regarding the secret service ... They take orders from the government. Who last time I checked, dont take orders form the Queen lol.

  • @RichardElden you've got that right :) i voted for him and the conservatives this last election

  • @RichardElden Agreed! ;D

  • @RichardElden 'Convention of 1839', look it up. We signed a treaty which said that we had 'to defend' Belgiums neutrality.

We didn't sign a treaty with Poland, we just declared war with Germany because it was the 'right' thing to do.

  • @RichardElden We were the only country in Europe with the power and might to match Hitlers armies, we were the shining light of democracy, Empire and freedom. We wouldn't let this tyrant take over Europe without us having anything to say about it.

...besides we had made an agreement with belgium that we would defend it.

As soon as the Wehrmacht set foot on Belgian soil, we would be thrust into war anyway.

I apologise for calling you stupid, It is after all your opinion.

  • @RichardElden How??? Should we just let Hitler conquer Europe? Don't be so stupid.

  • This is so inspiring...almost brings me to tears.

  • was this your own copy? or was this on loan from a library? where did you get it?

  • Sometimes great suffering is the primer for great world leaders. Franklin D. Roosevelt had Polio and was wheelchair bound. John F Kennedy's back was injured in WWII and he was in chronic pain. King Georges's suffering was his stammer. Awfully easy to feel for the suffering of others when you've endured it yourself. ... Loved the speech here- Loved the Movie as well. Godspeed King George VI

  • Way to go Bertie! You were a great man, and were desperately needed at that point in history. and your daughter has been a great woman who learned her sense of duty from her father. God save the Queen! Rule Britannia!

  • At that time, noone in Qc were forced to be French like it is today.

The soldiers from what it is Quebec today surely were more likely to be ENGLISH WHO SPOKE FRENCH as the original Normans were farmers.

  • @battycys Britain sent soldiers to Canada when she was attacked by the americans????LOL

the french-canadians fougth off the americans by themselves at Québec-City = 77 french-canadians and natives sent US general Benedict Arnold fleeing leaving his 800troops behind

At the battle of Chateauguay again french-canadian militia fought the americans as did Louis Riel in Manitoba--the british would have lost without the metis-the french-canadians or natives.

  • King George was a very brave and courageous man. He taught that anyone could overcome a disability for the love of God and his country!

  • @Matthewlee, are you a stutterer? If not keep your idiotic comments about a experience you know absolutely nothing about to yourself. I am sure 8 out of 10 stutterers will agree with me.

If you are, you are probably a extremely mild stutterer and have a very strong personality.

  • 16 people are Nazis.

  • King George VI stood for high principles -- for democracy, for justice, for liberty. History would more greatly appreciate The Good King except he was eclipsed by another great champion of democracy, justice and liberty, Winston Churchill. The Right Honorable Winston Churchill has a secure place in the history of our civilization. Perhaps, we should remind history of King George's claim upon us, by referring to him in the future as, King George, The Good.

  • @pt45g46 as an australian i cant agree, with all due respect winston churchill tried to sell australia out by demanding our troops remain in the middle east and not return to our front to defend againts the japanees.his phlilosphy was that australia could be taken back at a later date,by which time my country could very well have fallen to comunisum or worse.i do agree King George VI should very well be remembered as King George The Good..

  • @wiggyandtee Monarchs in the 1600's were very educated. I don't know where you got your information. Queen Elizabeth the 1st knew at least 5-6 different languages having understood them and spoke fluently in them.

  • This speech isn't as good without dramatic music in the background.

  • It doesn't sound nearly as dramatic without the 7th symphony playing behind.

  • @guilhugas does a war playing behind sounds dramatic enough?

  • @wiggyandtee If it was just poor reading skills he could have memorized the speech. There actually have been people who had to have their speeches read to them so they could memorize. No the awkward pauses were more from the treatment of his stutter than any lack of education, 1939 is a long time after the 1600s.

  • This speech was put on the Bonus Features of the "The King's Speech" DVD.

  • watch?v=KnYAC2_hnKg

''SAVING MY PRIVATES" (2011 - tom hanks)

a MUST see video. you need a good stomach - added yesterday

  • the king's speech

  • This movie made me proud being a stutterer :) I must admit the King had a very severe degree of stuttering. I stuttered like him, but the age makes it better. Long live the King!

  • @fucktown

    wad a username mate! LOL!

  • Australia will answer!

  • @RichardElden

I guess the IRA was died for shits and giggles then. What nonsense.

  • @RichardElden There is some merit in this argument as Soviet Russia under Stalin was also a truly evil regime and probably resulted in more deaths than Hitler's Final Solution. But let's face it, both regimes were fundamentally horrendous, unless of course you agree with the slaughter of millions of people for a political cause.

  • @RichardElden

    Sir, I stand corrected.

  • @RichardElden you could argue that all wars are mistakes, and usually achieve very little. However, the Second World War was one of the few wars in which right overcame wrong, and fascism and its evils were defeated - its a pity that Soviet communism fared so well after the conflict. The war mortally wounded the British Empire and finished her as a world power.

  • @2853lner Fascism is never defeated, it continually migrates around the world. I wonder who the United States is gonna pass the Fascism torch to, after they get blasted into the 18th century.

  • @RichardElden The Republic of Ireland was never part of the Empire. Northern Ireland was and still is part of the United Kingdom.

  • 0:21 thanks to king's speech i now know that's not where he read it!

  • @DongerZ1 Yeah, a thanks from me too! :D

It was pretty funny though, when I saw it in the movie I was thinking "what?". Didn't know it was actually done for real! It seems kinda deceiving to only take a photo suggesting he recorded it in a luxurious (echoing) room. I wonder!

  • Thank you for posting the real King's speech. I have now seen the film 10 times! It is great to hear the actual speech.

  • Thanks for this. I just watched the THE KING's SPEECH. /Wasn't he (George VI) marvelous?.

  • In the film you get this chilling feeling for just a few moments....

  • Listening to this makes you proud to be British. We fought oppression once, and if push came to shove, we'd do it again. Rule Britannia!

  • @TheStarchild73

The Irish have fought oppression for years.

  • @TheStarchild73 Please The British should be ashamed of what they did to the Africans and then every year people parade is shirts saying sorry, what good is that going to do them now. The so called British slaughtered millions of Africans and for what sugar to put in your tea.

  • Like most people I'm here because I just watched the oustanding film 'The King's Speech' - an amazing piece of art.

But hearing the actual speech after seeing that film is even better, I can hear the real man dealing with his real problem, overcoming a very real issue and standing up for his country. Most people just hear a man with a stutter. But I hear an incredibly brave man who is facing his fear to fulfill his duty to his country.

    Inspiring.

  • @FireflyFanatic3 Well said. It's such a pity that the word 'duty' has become a somewhat old-fashioned word in these times of ours.

  • @ogukuo72 thank you. Yeah, it's a shame. Call me old fashioned but I like the world we used to live in, I don't think I belong here now ... the world is changing too fast for anyone to keep up, society has been completely reformed in a matter of decades and it scares me to death. I'll just die one of those really old ladies who wallows in the past :P lool

  • history was written by the winner so you never know who's the good guy, or who's planning to do the greater good.

  • @RichardElden True enough but it was Great Britain proper that had to deal with "The Battle of Britain" and the subsequent Blitz; most of the help the Empire gave was in North Africa against the Italians and eventually, Rommel.

Britain was essentially alone until The USSR was forced to join the war in June of 1941.

  • @MrBanksyman Umm...where did that list even come from?

  • @RichardElden and a lesson most have forgotten

  • For a man with a stutter, he was quite eloquent here; this was all a terrible burden.

Indeed, after the fall of France, I've always felt that the United States should erect a monument to the British people for that terrible, terrible year when they held off Germany single-handedly.

  • @whatsgoingonthen You are a load of tripe. Surely, you would know this speech? If you did, and you find it monotonous then why are you listening to it? I don't listen to things that I find boring, and nor do I waste my time clicking on a video that I have no interest in. You are obviously English, but I would think that you are in the minority with regards to this. I would suggest, that a game of Grand Theft Auto might keep you away from the aspirin bottle.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrBanksyman No, Hitler was better at shouting, screaming about everything and nothing. King George VI was a much better speaker, especially as he went on.

  • Such an historic moment in so many ways.

  • kings speech was incredible!!

btw im a 13 year old boy

  • @mrpbj001 wow you're 13 and you wrote a comment for a youtube video . . . i'm sure we're all impressed.

  • @tdpackerfan I don't think many of us are.

  • @tdpackerfan Actually the fact that a 13 year old boy would listen to this and appreciate it in its historical context is extremely impressive.

  • @RichardElden because looking and sounding the part is what matters and the acting doesnt matter -_- not

  • @MrBanksyman lol, very clever.

  • As a fan of dumb comedies, I watched the kings speech after the green hornet. I was extremely moved by the film and its one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen... I almost forgot it was a movie... I believe, for some odd reason, that if it wasnt for his speech impediment this speech wouldn't have been nearly as powerful because of solemn tone it conveyed...

  • @thedumbnicname i also watched it and i found it truly inspiring, but if you want to see a more powerful movie and a more powerful final speech i kindly suggest the great dictator (1940). i hope you like it and after maybe you could tell me what do you think about it...
