The virus was either the result of either A. intercontinental movement of life pigs, or B. a laboratory error in handling the virus. This COULD have resulted naturally. It is unlikely, but possible. Moreover, it's a far stretch to go from lab error to intentional introduction of the virus by big pharma.

@Audiocrazed There's one thing I think we can say for sure. The virus was absolutely not an intentional release. Humans do not yet understand virus morphology and structural function sufficiently to make a virus "from scratch" with the goal of releasing it as a pandemic strain. I think it's unlikely that it was a lab strain for two reasons: 1) there are no pharma labs in the area that the first case took place. 2) Usually hybrids of 3 or more viruses aren't made in labs. There would be no need.
