And as for the missing LEM, with a quick bit of research I know where it is (or where it should be). The image was viewed from Station 5 of EVA 2, where the main crater you see is known as Camelot Crater. In knowing the location of the astronaut and the LEM, on a map, the LEM should be in the direction of Sculptured Hills. However the raised rim of Camelot Crater is in that direct path, thus the LEM is situated behind a bit of high ground and out of sight.

Because of this, of course you will not get a perfectly matching edge to edge pasting of the image, and features will appear twice (because they were photographed twice).
