on the new Microsoft boxes (office, vista, win7) there is a circular piece of tape wrapped around the flat right side of the case (looking from the front). when that is removed there is a red tab on the top left corner that you pull and the whole cd + inner case slides out.

Some of those packages require power tools to open. I have traveled internationally and I wouldn't say that people in other countries have higher IQs. In places like South America, there are large populations who can't read, and in Europe they tax gasoline so much that the taxes exceed the price of the fuel so it ends up costing more than double the cost of fuel in the US.. Just a couple of examples as to some weaknesses of other nations.

Where our gasoline at $2 per gallon is about $1.50 for gasoline and $0.50 for tax, in Europe it is $1.50 for a gallon of gas divide by 3.8 to get liters) and then $3.50 for tax, totaling $5. This shows that the people aren't too bright for repeatedly voting for politicians who support such outrageous taxes. Basically what we have here is a typical jealous foreigner, jealous of our quality of life.

Our government doesn't give "free" healthcare because as of now we are still capitalist, not socialist. There is no such thing as free. Also, many countries where health care is "free", like Canada and UK, it is rationed. Meaning beyond certain ages, you will be denied a procedure, because the government considers you too old to be worth the cost of repairing. this is just wrong. Also, we have Medicaid, which is free health insurance for the poor.

Actually there are some items that come in plastic packages and are completely secured, if you go to home depot and buy a product (knife, meter, etc)they are in a plastic that needs a knife to get it open, I always use a knife or something sharp which puts on risk the contents of the package, pretty sad if you damage a new product, mostly if they are expensive materials such as memories or flash drives...
