  • When i play this with my friend at his house, the second form doesn't shoot anything... It just makes the glass rotate and no bullets come out...

  • @blackeyedp7 If you're playing it with LBP 2, ah, theres some bugs with it that cause it not to function correctly at all; I havent taken the time to fix it yet.

If you're playing it on the FIRST game and it's doing that.... then I dunno what to say. I havent really made even one change to the thing since the point when I took the video, so it should still work in LBP 1.

  • @neonuma101 The floor is actually considered, by the game engine, to be part of the boss. It's attached to the rest of the boss by something or other, I forget what. So the brains all being popped destroys the floor as well.

This is, though, infinitely easier in the 2nd game (as everything is), since you can have the game specifically destroy anything very easily. Getting it to work in the 1st game is a bit of a pain.

  • Actually for myself, I'm working on a Danmaku too on LBP2. Right now I have testing Bosses and a working shooter thingy to kill the boss.

  • Try putting Mushihimesama Futari Ultra Mode into LBP2!

  • Hey Ive got a Request, Make a Danmaku like the real one, with jet packs?

  • @XyZxYz1293 I am indeed already working on a "real" danmaku; with a proper ship instead of Sackboy, scrolling levels, and all that fun stuff.

It's definitely for the 2nd game only though; the original LittleBigPlanet could never have managed this, but the new one certainly can!

There's alot of testing and such yet to be done though, so the new level is not ready yet. But I'll post a video here as soon as it is.

  • @Deihlanos Cool, yeah I forgot about how LBP2 has all these new controls and stuff haha

  • The apocalypse draws near.

...Oh wait. I forgot I saw the (watch?v=Uus-sm7sj-U)

    Gravity and bullets don't mix

  • This is more like Contra's control room bosses at the end of each hallway

  • the 4th level makes a smiley face :) and then a heart <3

  • More bullets = more thinking / Faster bullets = less thinking more reaction.

  • I suppose the people who ACE the level gets the boss as a gift? <:D

  • This = Touhou on Easy

  • @SADXhacker Feh, Touhou itself is easy, at least by my standards. Which is part of why i'm not much of a fan of it (it's ok though). I'm used to Cave's shmups, which are always harder. More bullets does not = difficulty. Anyone that's played enough danmaku shmups knows this.

And I couldnt use TOO many bullets in a danmaku thing in LBP; Sackboy's hitbox is just too big. LBP2 will be a different story though.

Also, the first game had nasty limitations with the thermo.

  • @Deihlanos lol. He probably doesn't play it much b/c he sucks at it.

  • @Deihlanos Really? To me, CAVE seemed like the one who went "moar bullet spamming" = impossibly hard.

  • @fevimaster Actually, no. Only Futari ever really did that. Look to Ketsui or DDP for attack patterns that actually dont have that many bullets, but are extremely difficult.

Futari was sort of a special case, because that one's difficulty is sort of a whole other level beyond what the genre usually is.

Even in Futari though, some of the nastiest attacks dont have that many bullets, particularly depending on the game mode. For example, the third boss in Original...

  • @Deihlanos Ah, that explains it. I've only seen Futari Xp Touhou's difficulty also doesn't seem to depend on the number of bullets, but rather on the pattern or the mixing of different shapes and sizes.

  • Comment removed

  • @raymonnr1 Somehow I *really* doubt yours is any better, or any good. Particularly since, with LBP 1, the game is at it's limit as it is with this one. So.... yeah. Not to mention that all the other comments would appear to disagree with you.

How about, INSTEAD of being a useless, worthless, stupid troll, you go outside and get some excersize? Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot; trolls explode when exposed to sunlight.

At least trolls like you are worth a quick giggle.

  • @Deihlanos

I thought vampires exploded in the sunlight.

  • @Deihlanos I think they might also get a few laughs considering you replied back in 10 fold. Nice video btw.

  • @raymonnr1 an effort is an effort

  • If only there were bombs

  • @Claus939 I have, in fact, recently figured out how to create screen-clearing bombs; these will be included with the next boss I put out.

And this will all get better with the 2nd game; after spending some time with the beta, I'm finding it to be many times better than the first game. I'll be able to make alot of things that were impossible with the first LBP.

  • nice work :D i wish i could make bosses period ._. i suck at making machinery in this game lol im much btr with costumes :P cant wait for lbp2 to coem out :D

  • Your danmaku fails.

  • @TwoToner22 Deeply fascinating. However, something tells me you couldnt A: do better, B: do even close to as well, or C: produce a working machine in the game whatsoever. Just a hunch. Particularly since this particular boss pushed the game to it's absolute limit as it is.

Ah, trolls. Always looking to get a rise outta people. Sad how your type actually seems to believe it to be "funny". Never realizing how damn stupid you look.

This did provide me with a laugh, though.

  • @TwoToner22 lol your stupid comment got raped

  • I played this today, it's so hard! I couldn't even finish xD

  • awesome video!

can you please heart me as an author

    Search "kminatz"

i will heart you too if you send me a message

  • That was a sweet boss. I've made a co-op boss, 2 people have to work together to beat it, it's pretty sweet aswell lol :P

  • when i saw the 2 two first stages i through this is getting boring...

BUT when i saw the 3-4 i was just like: "WOW!"

  • very nice bossfight, indeed.

  • Awwww, no graze for you. ;P

  • Cant wait to play this level when I get the game. What is the name?

  • Not enough bullets for a boss o.o, Or maybe i just Play too many Touhou games >.>

  • Touhou 1 remade XD

  • how to you make those rapid fire plasma balls

  • @yoheath66 Huh? I'm not sure what you mean. What section of the video are you referring to?

  • @Deihlanos I see the plasma balls shooting super fast Im not sure how to make them shoot that fast

  • @yoheath66

plasma balls are in the metal gear solid pack

  • what bolt do u have to make it spin

  • it needs more bullets!

  • Man, that's a very cool boss in terms of gameplay, though he/she/it could prehaps look a bit better with some visual touch ups :) Is this published? I'd love a go.

  • can anyone upload how to make a boss?

  • how do you do that you should totally make a tutorial and where and how do you get all this stuff?

  • yeah make a tutorial on how to make this crazy stuff i love it!

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What was your graze at the end

  • Hah! I remember this. I stayed up for a few days playing this nonstop before finally beating it. Hell of a run with this, it was great. Only downside was continually falling into the background if you are near the platforms when they are descending.

  • Nevermind I think I fixed it :D. But please check put my levels! Psn: Hawkeye11794 thanks :)

  • Hey, I started to make a boss sorta like this...but it messes up after the 2nd side is defeated. The motor bolt just starts having a mind of it's own and breaks past the key switch. Think you can help me out here? Psn is Hawkeye11794 btw, I added you :)

  • man, this video is good, but i just wonder what ganon's up to.

  • Can I add you? I need help making a boss like that, but I dont know how to do those things where you destroy the brain and then it changes, can you show me or make a tutorial

  • @TuyaEben Yeah, you can add me if you want, but I'm no good at teaching anyone stuff, lol. For the brain thing, it's done with a switch trick; you put a switch key directly on the bubble part of the brain, so that when the brain pops, it vanishes and a nearby switch changes.

For anything other than that.... it's all very complicated logic, and mine is more... warped... than most. There's a set of tutorial levels, the Logic Pack, put out by LittleBigPlanet Central, look for those to help.

  • how did you get those lazer balls? and how did you do that when you picked up those things the side changed? is it a ``time thing´´ or something? :D i allways wanted to create a awesome boss like that and i dont know...

  • @spiderduck29 The plasma bullets come from the Metal Gear Solid DLC pack, as does the paintinator. And I'm not sure what you mean by things I picked up.

  • @Deihlanos i mean that when you had destroyed those creature brans and straight after that that changed... how did you do it?

  • @spiderduck29 Oh, that. You can glue either a switch or a magnet key directly onto the bubble part of the brain; so that when the brain is popped, the switch or key vanishes, thus causing something to change.

It's something the game doesnt make very obvious. Particularly since the Collector can do this without any switches (they cheated when they made that boss, they did!)

  • @Deihlanos oh :D thanks man... what do you mean collector? :O

  • @Deihlanos props

  • This is cool. When I get my copy in a few days I'm going to play this.

  • Wanna try a challenging sh'em up

    PLay dodonpachi dai-fukkatsu Black label

  • nice but make the stuff invisible.

friend EDOD if u want some help making this a full scale jetpack danmaku / Touhou level!

    i'd love to work witcha

  • nahh im not into loli factor, i am into game factor and personallity / fanbase factor.,

  • in touhou, according ot other games, you actually have to move around IN THE WHOLE FIELD to survive, like in other casual /hard shooter games.

but yeah touhou will always be my fave. shooter games. and on one can stop me from it, or the other millions of fans out there.

  • I have no problems with Touhou, I just cant get into them very much; not after playing shmups by Cave and others.

My main problem with it is just that the bullet patterns are often designed more for looks than functionality; just cause a pattern is pretty to look at doesnt make it interesting/challenging to dodge.

Doesnt mean they're not decent games though.

That and I get tired of the sort of fan that loves the games just cause of loli girls in them.

  • I just love the characters in touhou cuz they are well, good characters. which are rare nowadays. being lolis has little/nothing to do with it.

True, being pretty doesnt make it fun. it does make it pretty tho :)

Also, I honestly got attached to the masochistic difficulty, despite ironically being one of the EASIER Shmups/bullet hells out there. As in, easier than games like Ikaruga, etc.

This section looks pretty cool tho, i didnt know LBP could do such a thing, pretty neat.

  • This is amazing

  • What a creative boss!

    5 stars from me.

  • Touhou is way easier than Dodonpachi or mushihime...well in my opinion of course.

And how can i find those levels Bridget_ ? Do i have to add your PSN?

  • If you want to find all levels made by a specific creator, you just go into the "search" option in the community thing, and type in the PSN name you're looking for, with a "@" in front of it.

So for mine, you'd want to type in "@Bridget_", note the underscore at the end there.

That should bring up all of my stuff.

Also, I most certainly agree of course, Touhou IS easier than DDP or Mushi.

Definitely doesnt hold my attention as well as those games do, heh.

  • Well, Touhou is a lot more focused on slower, but more bullets, and pretty colors/patterns.

It really depends on the preference of the player.

  • Needs more MASTER SPARK!

  • lol LBP shmup, how awesome is that !

  • Looks more like DoDonPachi than Touhou though.

  • Yes.

My bosses are all influenced by Cave's games, not by the Touhou series.

  • @Deihlanos that's strange, you mentioned Danmaku, which is related to touhou... and its usually involved with crazy-ass attack patterns. i've only seen gameplay of touhou, so i dunno what im getting into.

  • Danmaku or Bullet Hell is a type of shmup. Check out Mushihime-sama and DoDonPachi for examples other than Touhou.

  • Danmaku is Japanese for "bullet curtain" (弾幕).

All bullet hell games are technically danmaku games.

  • Marisa would be proud.

  • well that and Im not that good at making levels yet

  • All I have is the psp version. I would love to make a level like this but can't find out how to make flying projectiles slow whithout stopping

  • Cant be done in the PSP version.

That version lacks the stuff from the MGS pack..... and wont be getting it. The PSP does not have a 2nd analog stick, and thus cannot use the Paintinator.

Not to mention that that version is TERRIBLY buggy. It's SO buggy that I've no desire to make anything in it just yet.

But yeah, this can only be done on the PS3 version. And even then, it's very difficult to do correctly.

  • @Deihlanos well I was planning on using a jetpack to fly and having super bombs drop after a given period of time (which are items with proximity switches which activate and emitter which shoots a line in the background which pushes up the bullets which are wide enough to be in the background and foreground which would also be hooked up to disolvable material on the boss or something like that) but its all for nothing if I can't make slow flying hazzards

  • @Deihlanos i could however to a fast shmup like thing with that basic Idea I could even have a level before the boss where enemies are attached to invisible pistons and you fly to the top of a vertical hallway where a chamber closes off at the boss

LBP is about using your imagination so finding a way around obsticles is key

I will agree though the PSP is glitchy my first (and only as of now) level is glitched to the point that it crashes when played

this does make me wish I had a PS3

  • @GenTobias read comment bellow this one first I used to many char so I split it into two comments

  • Well, I've seen shmup levels before on the PS3 that were made before the MGS pack, but... they all suffered the same problems.

Anyting shmup-like needs proper bullets in order to work right. If you have to make bullets out of materials, it just doesnt work. They bounce off each other, get stuck on things, and cant really be fired in straight lines due to gravity.

The Plasma balls are important because they have none of these problems

  • bah, stupid text limit.

Anyway, yeah, without bullets that have the right properties, it's impossible to make complex patterns like this.

The PSP version of the game is OK I guess, but... yeah, it doesnt measure up to the PS3 one at all. I'd honestly expected more from the PSP one, and was surprised at just how messed up it was.

The PS3 one is worth it though. I bought the console originally just for this game, and I certainly dont regret it.

    And now they're adding water...

  • can u get the plasma and the paintinator all at once in GOTY? someone answer meh question! (please) :P

  • LBP is the most little bit awsome game

i have a LBP game of the year edition

  • After playing a literal crapload of Touhou recently I something like this was added to my list of levels to try and create in LBP but unfortunately, like every idea I've had, I haven't actually tried any of them yet <_<. Good to see someone has actually made one, proves it's possible at least ^.^

  • beautiful. i tried for many hours to come up with some kind of decent bullet pattern. this blows me away, my favorite LBP video so far.

  • The description says 3 weeks, so my best guess is 3 weeks. =P

  • How do you get the Erngy beam type things shooting out of it. And in case I have it where in the inventory is it?

  • You need to buy the Metal Gear Solid Pack, from the PSN store, in order to get the Plasma balls or the Paintinator (a paint gun that Sackboy can wield to shoot at things.... very fun.).

It should be in the section for LBP download content.... I forget how much it is, but it's very worth it.

If you've already bought it, the Plasma is going to be in the Tools bag, with the hazards.

  • The one time I acually get an answer to this question I get the answer 5 minutes after I figure it out?!

  • Ok so how do you get the Neon Material thing. I've done all of the metal gear solid things and didnt get it.

  • Can you tell me how you got that BG? plz

  • It's actually 2 wheels of gas nailed to some dark matter with a motor bolt to spin them.

The game has a really odd way of rendering the gas though, so to produce that waving effect is very difficult. Try spinning or moving gas in some way and get the camera close to it, you'll see what I mean.

But yeah, apparantly you can bolt the gas to stuff. Despite that making no sense.

  • this boss is ok. not great though. I like the epic background though!

  • This video is lacking adequate armpits

  • lol, seeing a comment relating to this on such a video is great ;p Thumbs up for this.

  • This video is lacking adequate women, too.

    Oh well!

  • I hope by women you mean very underaged girls with strange headresses

  • It's a boy, not a girl. Bridget, that is. If that's who you meant.

  • @Deihlanos

I beg to differ, Danmaku -> Touhou -> massive cast of underaged girls with strange hats

  • Oh, lol.

Sorry, not familiar with Touhou whatsoever. Im one of the rare shmup fans that just doesnt care for that series too much.

So stuff related to it is gonna go right over my head.

  • LittleBigTouhou

  • Why so serious? XD

  • Dude, I had no idea you could make a boss this amazing in Little Big Planet. The fact it's a giant shmup tribute in and of itself is awesome.

Five stars for the vid, this was an EPIC watch. How would I go about playing this level online? I've never really known how you search for levels/level authors, and I REALLY want to play this.

  • There's a search function down in the community levels option, for that menu on the main planet. Just hit right to go to "search", and then you want to "search text".

Type in a level name there to search that way. If you want author search, you put a @ symbol in front of the author's PSN name. For me, mine is bridget_, so you'd put in @bridget_ like that.

Any questions at all, feel free to message me, happy to help when I can :)

Glad you liked the level, too :)

  • Hey, the "castle of doctor insano" is that a reference to Spoony Experiment's Dr. Insano?

  • No, though I know what you're referring to.

Just happened to have the same name, is all.

  • Alright, cool. By the way I just wanted to let you know that this level design actually inspired me to buy Little Big Planet... I wasn't going to get it but now I want to because your level was so cool and I want to make one of my own.

    Thanks for being awesome! :D

  • reminds me of touhou

  • dude this looks like an awesome boss with lots of imagination. Well Done and i hope you continue making things like this!!!

  • 2:22 i noised that that stuff lookes like that stuff from jak 3

  • I thought of doing this exact same thing at one point but was far too lazy to go through with the whole plan...

Might I ask which danmaku made you want to do this?

  • I'm mostly inspired by Cave's games when making things like these in LBP and whatnot.

Like Mushihime-sama, or DoDonPachi, or ESPGaluda.

Definitely my favorite developer, so stuff I make is gonna take after them a bit.

  • you had a really cool idea man!

I wasn't sure what to make my boss like---but you gave me some inspiration---thnx :D

  • thats's what I call a holy fucking mother shit bitch fucking holy fucking mother shit

    awesome boss!

  • I wonder if I reply myself;

    i could get an e-mail!

  • BTW I played this level XD

  • very cool

  • This game, and this level, are both amazing. Great job. I'm blown away... I love the gas effects in the background.

I'm actually developing a shmup for the Xbox 360, Duality ZF, which has a Bullet Hell mode, you may like to check it out if you like these maniac shooters. I'm sure Duality ZF falls into that category... it can get pretty intense. Take a look at my profile for a trailer...

  • Pretty intense. Well done. Wish I had to time to make more LBP levels. I get so frustrated with the limitations of the stupid thermometer.

  • how did you make the red and blue backgrounds when fighting the boss???

  • Giant spinning gas wheels, actually. Stuck to bits of Dark Mater with motor bolts.

Getting them to actually produce that swirling effect is very difficult, though, due to the way the game wants to render the gas onscreen.

  • AWESOME

  • Dude...nice....

  • God, I have to get a PS3 and LBP

    The possibilities are endless.

  • I'm looking for more video on Bullet Maniac maps (Japanese arcade games that involves a TON of bullets and players having tiny hitboxes).

  • Yes, those types of games are some of my favorites; such as Mushihime, DDP, or others. That's where the inspiration for this one comes from. "Danmaku" translates to "curtain fire", basically.

I have other smaller bosses that are all using this same concept; I intend on putting up videos of them as well, one of which I'll try to do tonight, so look for those soon.

  • That was aweeesome!!!

How'd you get the material you used for the intro? The black and blue one.

    =)

  • The material at the beginning is one of the VR materials (there's also a green, and a red). It's from the Metal Gear Solid pack that you can buy online (it's about 5 bucks; totally worth it, and you also get the paint gun!). It's found in one of the levels in that pack, as a prize bubble.

The music that is used during the fight is also from that; it's a theme from MGS4. There are 4 music tracks from that game to be gotten in that pack too.

  • Holy crap, that is amazing.

  • Wow... How could I ignore LBPs awesome power until now?

  • The only thing that is missing is some kind of a "grande finale"; I don't know about the thermometer state in this level, but letting the 4 extensions drop down, the base platform moving upwards, and then having to face the "core" of the whole construction - you could simply emit it upon destruction, for example - would be some kind of a great highlight.

  • Unfortunately the game would explode if I tried that :p

That'd been my original intention, to have the 4 sections, and then a 5th bit after..... but the thermometer is completely maxed.

  • Nice bossfight, that's for sure. No visible save spots - I think creating complex bullet patterns that are challenging and don't leave any save spots, but are not that insane that they are just based on luck is a very difficult task.

  • Wow. You did a great job.

  • Wow, that's good stuff right there.

  • That was just... Wow

  • Omg, you created the best level on LittleBigPlanet. Congratulations man - that's just...jaw-droppingly awesome. I wish there were danmaku boss patterns in platform games...

    Nice gamer tag btw. ;)

  • Ya know, I keep hearing that from people: "Gee, there should be more bullet-hell sequences in platformers like this".

Gives me the idea to try and create an entire game based on the concept (using GM or something). Though working out the mechanics might be annoying, and I cant do art/sprites myself.

Still. Might be a good idea, maybe. I'll try and start on it in a couple days.

  • insane!!! that was really cool! you're a great creator!!
