okay. so im a freshmen in high school and i play jv and varsity and the pitching is a little faster than im used too and my bat speed isnt as fast as the other people so i just feed off of getting fastballs where i want them. but would a long kick really only do good if you have good bat speed?
It's not really a high kick it's more of a long kick it actually helps with the timing cuz if they so happen to throw off speed u can time it better and never be out front. Great video.
@LongGone141 i don't think he's necessarily trying to preach a high leg kick, but the hands being kept back, weight transfer, good rotational swing, good vid, good points
you are losing a ton of power by lifting your back foot up at the end...the only one that ever had enough strength to do that was frank thomas....and hes a monster
@ieattoys actually i have seen everyone from pujols to hank aaron lift their back foot off of the ground on high pitches. So what happens with the back foot depends on the location of the pitch. Hitters won't lift their back foot off the ground on low pitches
This is a good swing for the most part. As for the comments below the back foot should come off the ground or at least continue to drive towards the ball all way through the swing, forcing your weight onto you front leg, which you lean back against.
If you were chopping down a tree you could swing the axe very hard because the tree does not move and you are sure to hit it. As the axe comes into contact with the tree all of your weight is on your front leg, with your body leaning back against
It does happen a little when they hit to the opposite field home runs. But the long stride is not correct. They kick up and down but not really out 2-3 feet. Albert has a very wide stance and takes literally no stride or a very very small one and A Rod kicks up and down with a stride if I had to guess 3-4 inches.
i cant hear it

It's a great swing -- 100% weight on front foot at contact.

@ieattoys there are quite a few players who lift their leg like Albert Pujols and he has one of the best batting avgs.

@RPG11568 the stride is only a few inches. look where his foot starts and where it ends.
