this only applies to people living outside of punjab (for example Canada, America, England). in 5 generations punjabi is forgotten. I was one of the lucky few who attended punjabi private school, but i doubt 4 generations of my kids after me will still know this language.

Thats why you should 'teach' your kids punjabi, reading & writing when they are young so they dont forget it, and take them to India every few years, so that Punjabi DOES NOT BECOME extinct..... thats the only way to preserve it outside of India, we can only try.
