Fire Depts. around the globe will lower their flag for a fellow firemen whom they may have no connection to. However we are a brotherhood. May thoughs who have fallen rest in peace.
Firefighting is dangerous, but as a professional firefighter in Australia I don't believe it is a job that should claim lives. There is nothing that justifies firefighters taking un-necessary risks. Emphasis on un-necessary. If you get home and cant answer a simple "how was your day" because you are afraid to tell your family how close you come to death, your risk assessment skills need to be revisited. Sometimes shit just happens, but the number of coffins in this clip is an injustice.
Points well taken but you can't relate that kind of "common sense" justification to an incident like the FDNY faced on 9-11. It just doesn't work. This was the worst case scenario that every Department dreads, from SO many different angles in terms of what FDNY faced. I guess for them to survive that day they should have just not answered the call! Departments all over the USA will continue to honor the FDNY and this day because they all know the SAME THING could have happened to them!
Actually a HUGE part of the problem is that firefighters STILL do not have radios which allow them to communicate easily with police and other agencies. This continues dispite a federal mandate. This was a big part of the problem on 9/11. NYPD knew the buildings were beginning to look unstable. They tried but were unable to communicate this issue to FDNY inside the building. Australia knows. We will always remember our brothers and sisters. Knowledge is strength.
Yes radios were a big problem at the scene on 9/11, do you know why though....the main towers for all communications were placed on top of tower 2 of the WTC, thats why....
I agree, 911 was exceptional. But that was over 5 years ago, how many firefighters have died since? I dont intend to offend, but my point was made without september 11 in mind. That was a bad call, but one of thousands that have taken lives without cause. Look past it change what you can GET SAFE.
Do you know how many fireman died in 9/11, 343. 343 men that saved at least 10,000 of his fellow man and women. Can you recall that last time 343 firefighters laid down there lives at one time, the answer is no. You can't, thats why we always remember. I understand your point, but it is made in ignorance.
No, my point is not made in ignorance. In fact my point was carefully thought out because I knew that people would jump on the 9/11 bandwagon. This Vid has no direct reference to 9/11, my point was made without 9/11 in mind, I have already stated that I agree 9/11 was exceptional!!!! And yet FF's continue to die in the USA, this my friend clearly marks my point.
I understand what you are trying to say, no debate needed. I hope everyone will go home at every fire scene, and every fire dept. in this country will see to it that it happens as much as possible, but it is a dangerous profession, we die, it's that simple.
Good use of Shine Your Light with the pictures, I could not think of a more beautiful way to pay tribute to all firefighters lost in the line of duty.
PS: RIP to the 343 brothers of the FDNY lost five years agon today, we will never forget you.
As a firefigher i hope to never bury any of my brothers. My true brother is a Fire/medic. I can't imagine going through that. God bless our fallen brothers and sisters. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
aqui se ve, a grandeza dos bombeiros espalhados pelo mundo fora, herois outrora desaparecidos mas, nunca esquecidos, que as suas almas descansem em paz. o video esta espectacular.
I love this song. It makes me want to cry when I watch Ladder 49 because I realize that instead of Jack Morrison in that coffin, It could be my dad...My dad is a firefighter and I'm proud of him, as well as everyone else who risks thier lives to save others. Dad, thanks a lot, and I really appriciate what you do.
I just finished watching that movie... that's the reason I searched google and youtube for those funeral procession scenes. After that movies drama, I really noticed how serious that is. It was a powerful movie.
It sure was. I really appreciate those who put themselves in harms way to saves others. "People always ask me why firefighters run into a burning building while others run out." One of my favorite lines.
what is the song name??
