@pegburke13 What qualifies one to be called "scholar", in your estimation? Is it that you've got your facts right or that the Establishment is funding your efforts to damage an ancient community?
You think it is difficult to give a presentation that can fool your average Bible-illiterate Christian?
There are lots of "scholars" pushing the myth of the Historical Jesus, even though he is an ahistorical personality. Doesn't mean they're smart, honorable, or honest.
@IWannabeJew Your whole "Silent Holocaust" agenda proves how much of a hypocrite you are because if you even believed in the God of the Jews in the first place you would believe Him when He promised to guard a remnant and return the Jews to the land. If God can bring Israel back to the land after having been lost since the assyrian invasion, long before the diaspora and before the Mishnah existed then He can protect the Jews during the diaspora without the help of your man-made religion.
"you would believe Him when He promised to guard a remnant and return the Jews to the land. If God can bring Israel back to the land after having been lost since the assyrian invasion, long before the diaspora and before the Mishnah existed then He can protect the Jews during the diaspora without the help of your man-made religion."
Except for "man-made religion" (what religion?), I completely agree with these words.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein...
Joshua 23:6
Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left...
Now....please explain why Joshua is ONLY commanded to observe the WRITTEN torah and not the oral???
@varoshah The oral exposition of the written Torah wasn't in "book" (scroll, maybeeeee?) form, was it?
If you think observance of the written commands of the Torah didn't involve ORAL instruction on how to observe them you either don't observe the written Torah or you are hypocritically BLIND to your own Karaite oral traditions.
Only a dullard or a Jew-hater would be a Karaite. The very fundamentals of the Karaite position are self-contradictory.
I don't agree with Nehemiah Gordon's although this by itself doesn't prove or disprove the idea's presented by Karaites. In fact many religious Jews have made alliances with various Christian groups rightly or wrongly. The idea though that God gave us an "oral torah" is the most absurd idea as how can you prove something oral. It is no different then "believing" certain things about Jesus that happened although believing in an Oral Torah may be an even higher absurdity if you think about.
@Adam6275 This video's aim wasn't to refute Karaite arguments, which can be and has been done easily enough in other videos, especially if your arguments are an example of what we would be up against.
Oral tradition ALWAYS accompanies written law.
The Jewish people observing the Oral Torah generation after generation is "the proof"! And who do they need to prove it to? Heretics, Jew-haters and antinomians who can't even read the Torah in Hebrew?
@Adam6275 No, sorry, I apparently don't have the faulty thinking processes you do.
What is absurd is thinking that the commandments of the Written Torah were observed without ANY Oral tradition on HOW they were to be observed.
You OBVIOUSLY are not even moderately-read in either the Mishnah or the Talmud. Furthermore, I seriously question your knowledge of the Written Torah, given what you've said already.
@IWannabeJew In addition you are aware when Jews finish a tractate in Talmud which I have been at Siym's they say we are learning and gong to the world to come while other are learning and going to Gehenim. Is that part of the "oral tradtion". But worse this idea of a Shabbos Goy contradicts the written torah that say are servants should observe the Shabbos with us. So this idea is clearly Rabbi's pandering to their constituents by letting them have "Shabbos Goys".
What of the Jews living in the Diaspora and their non-Jewish neighbors who don't live in their household? Are you one of the simpletons who thinks the whole human race is supposed to observe the entire Torah?
I've got the blessing right here. The word "Geyhinnom" is not used.
I do agree somewhat with your objections regarding Nehemiah Gordon and his connection to Messianics. We who don't necessarily follow Jewish oral tradition, shouldn't ally ourselves religiously with Christians / Messianics. We should stand by the Jewish people and their rabbis, not those trying to convert them to Christianity.
Our Israelite community in Costa Rica, doesn't "proselytize" Jews, we refer them to an orthodox shul or rabbi here in town ( there are many Israeli tourists here ).
I wish you'd done this video years ago. For years, I honestly didn't know where you were coming from and what direction you were going in, despite your explanatory videos on your background. So, what group within Judaism would you like to convert to, if you could? What group do you lean toward - Modern Orthodox, Hasidic, Haredi...? Is there any particular Rabbi or community that you find appealing and/or inviting...?
@smadeintheshade Almost any Judaism derived from adherence to the Talmud I would be willing to learn from. I am not yet all that interested in Kabbalah, but many would agree that I'm not ready for it, anyway.
@IWannabeJew Got any favorite teachers? There seems to be an explosion of sites carrying various shiurim (lectures) in mp3 and/or video format. I probably listen to five or so hours each day. At the moment, I'm re-working my way through Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro's shiurim on Derech HaShem over at teachittome (d-t) com (slash) shapiro. I also like Rabbis Akiva Tatz and David Aaron's shiurim over at simpletoremember (d-t) com and Rabbi Ben-Tzion Krasnianski's vids at lessonsintanya (d-t) com.
@IWannabeJew - I lean toward Breslover Hasidism & continue to wrestle with the joy & emunah message taught by Rabbi Shalom Arush, shlita. If only I had the means and wherewithal to relocate and get my foot in the door without becoming a burden to Klal Yisrael. Man, I'm sick to death of hearing, "You were born a Gentile, remain one and just be a good Noachide." Yet, I'm not as militant(?) as geoasher023 seems to be on the subject of Gentiles converting, because it's not for everyone. Still....
lol!!! banana republic vest. love it. nehemia gordon is a 'sadducee' and the x-tians who hate pharisees are buddying up with him? he's selling books. its a business. you are spot on with the enemy of my enemy is my friend statement. i've said this myself in reference to the n.g./x-tian relationship.
Even I know that if Jesus existed, the idea that he was a Karaite is incorrect. The gospel of Matthew has Jesus referring to teachings found in rabbinic literature.
The Karaites would also have affinity for Messianics because they both employ Sola Scriptura.
I think the Karites just like the Messys/Xtians and other false teachers are ment to be a test to make sure we know our Tanakh.

You're posting this to counter Karaites? If not, you're a silly Karaite to be countering with quotes from Jewish oral tradition.
