Lolz, I saved the dog, then it was at the barn area and I kept shooting it. Then when it turned up in the El Gigante fight I was like, "So that dog holds no grudges... COOL!"

Yea this isnt the best video but not bad, you only need something like 60 bullets with the handgun (no upgrades) to kill it. Just make sure you get 8 slashes one time (it takes 15 total) so you should only have to take it down twice. Dont bother shooting it at the beggining the dog comes after like 20 seconds. Easy head shots when it picks up the trees and they are easy to dodge. Overall no need for the rocket and probbably the M case thats like 60k wasted. I had about 240 bullets at the start.

just save your money and get the RPG, i beat it the first time and used the shotgun and pistol and it took forever, then i just bought the RPG and it was a one hit kill, so much easier. and it saves ammo for your shot gun

This is the reason why I have so much respect for Leon over Chris Redfield. Leon single handledly killed El gigante (plus 2 more in the later chapter!) while Mr. Steroids had someone help him using a turret!! Don't get me wrong, Chris Redfield is Awsome but Leon is kick ass!

What you need to do is to avoid or dodge his attacks and use shotgun punisher or some powerful ammunition and press x repeatedly when got chance and healing urself from time to time...
