HI jimbo80982, It's not just bikes mate. In Jan 2012, the annual MoT (ministry safety test) is changing for cars, vans & 4x4's. Any mods, Xenon headlight bulbs, bare wiring to any additional lights, exposed battery terminals, non standard suspension, exhausts, cracked lamp lenses, dashboard warning lights on, unoriginal seat belts, unadjustable drivers seats, rally seats & a load of other stuff will result in test failure. They are trying to make it so motors are as factory standard only!

For cars, vans & 4x4's it comes into "FORCE", on 1st Jan 2012. As for bike, as I understand it the MoT will require stricter noise level testing. Not sure about anything else for bikes. I should also have mentioned, towing hitches & electrics will be part of the new test. It's to prepare for a 2 year MoT. How on earth it is safer to leave something for 2 years rather than 1 on a vehicle I don't know? Only royalty, celebrity or an MP are free! Slave public MUST KEEP them in GOLD, WINE & VENISON!

Also , more time = more money for the garages that do the mot. Fuck , i can barely afford to drive as it is! This is going to leave alot of people out of pocket if it comes into effect.

I would say anyone that has done any level of personalisation to a motor whether it just xenon bulbs instead of halogen will loose money on the bulbs & own a vehicle with a failed MoT! Yes, more money for garages returning a motor to original spec or upgrading the mods to pass the MoT. Add in the affect of lost trade to accessory shops could = jobs? Did I mention tyres will need to be 3mm & not 1.6mm? another waste of resources & more ££££'s!

But personnally i dont like it. The dimensions are wrong.

The neck is too high and the rake is far too much. Witch in turn make the fork unneccessary long. Don't get me wrong, i like the "long-lean" bike style.

But somehow, it's just not 100% on this bike.

Hope u don't crusify me now, but thats just my opinion.

It was a bucket of bolts. 1974 XL1000 on a pacho rigid frame, springer front end (slightly bowed), 2.75" ground clearance, no front brakes, one rear drum brake, kick-start only, no electrics or instruments other than the headlight and brakelight. It was a rough ride. I bought it off of one of the banditos. It was fun, but not the best ride. It turned heads though.
