  • hate both communist and socialist. they are the same.

  • Chaves is more of a rich communist than a socialist

  • This is a very very very good report as opposed to other american news

  • Ok, I really cannot debate what happens in the country. ALl I get is what I hear on the news and my own research which is mainly papers agreeing or disagreeing with Chavez policies. I am aware that my info could be bias or lies. I do know that it takes time to unite everyone and provide for everyone in VZ. So what do you propose? THe current system not working. Is there hope for a better world?

  • By definition, governments should be there for the people, therefore making them socialist if they put the walefare of all people over the wealth of a few. IN the USA even government hospitals are just for profit. Insurance is just for profit. Tax breaks is just for profit. War is just for profit. Humanitarian aid is just for profit. TV and the news is just for profit. THE basic provided needs of humans are for pofit. What kind of people you think this will produce?

  • im glad he lost u imagine dat bastard ruling forevah? my dad would had lost his house as well

  • Is your dad's house more important than the people's poverty?

Is being rich a priority to ending poverty?

  • were da fuck are we gonna live? would you give me YOUR house to me and my family?... chavez doesnt cease poverty he, makes people poor so he can have moar ass kissers that he can control with miserable change... dont believe everything u hear.... and by the way im not rich

  • oh yeh and btw... dont worry bout the "poor" people who have their own cars, they already kiked us out of our home, who now its painted in red and full of chavism propaganda... were currently living with my grandparents, would you like to take some venezuelans homeless people? you should also try to help my aunt how even though shes a single mother ears the same as a cleaning lady despite being a doctor

  • It is impossible for Chavez to make everyone poor. Where would the money go to? USA hates him because he uped the price of oil. I'm American and I know the USA wants to use and exploit other nations. DOn't be a victum of the American Empire. For those who are against socialist reforms, what are you proposing to fight poverty in your country? or are you only concerned with your wealth? Don't just think about your aunt be 100 other women in her position, and how you can create a system of change

  • what? listen i dont know or care about what the usa, i talk from what i see, were will the money go? of cour for the goberment do be so innocent., when the hell did i talked about wealth? is it wrong even to bitch over ur home being taken by the goverment? hear my words WE DONT HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE ANYMORE, we cannot affor another house, WE ARE NOT RICH u dont even know what people here its going through u just buy everything that chavez sez because he mentions your dear socialism

  • chavez plan its quite simple... he kicks out the powerfil and the people with money, and makes sure to bring down the rest of the middle class that hasn't been brainwashed by his actions... so they will come begging for mercy at his feet and acknowledge him as their ruler, ant they will get the governments alms, thats the so called help they give the poor yet they will always remain poor, those who opose him will suffer... thats a quite simple plan, yet very obvious

  • Since Chavez, He allowed free media even when the capitalist make lies on him to protect their profits. A country should not put profits as their moral standard. He never kicked out the rich, they choose to leave cause they can no longer exploit the people. Open your eyes. Some benifit from capitalism both most suffer. Is that what you are fighting for? inequality. Chavez didn't cause poverty, it was there before him. MOst countries would dream to be lucky to have a president not a puppet of USA

  • free media? what are you talking about? remember RCTV? btw he IS kiking people out, by harassing them and taking over their goods using the national army. things that they had gained with their effort, of course they dont tell that to the international media. He doesnt really encourage education without socialist brainwashing.... what does stepping on the people has to do with the USA? the equality that you talk about its an equality were everybody is poor and live as the government's livestock.

  • Socialist brainwashing as opposed to capitalist doctrination. Pick your posion. When I say equality I mean all of the US-owned companies in Venezuela, and non in USA. They dont want your business in thier country but wish to rule in yours. You find that equal? Maybe Chavez is not perfect but he is not a puppet like many presidents. The greatest one is the one that serves the weakest and gives them hope but Chavez in not perfect just more accessible to the poor. Unlike past governments.

  • "It is impossible for Chavez to make everyone poor"

so there were rich people in Castro's communism

For those who are against socialist reforms, what are you proposing to fight poverty in your country? or are you only concerned with your wealth?

so all those who don't think like you do are selfish ... biggot much?

just listen to yourself.. do you think that you are superior than tutti or something? I do agree with tutti.. Hugo Chavez is a hypocrite, and you apparently have no idea

  • Would you rather become a rich millionaire or would you rather see all the poor people have what you have today? It seems to me that Chavez, although not perfect, leans more to the second principle while the rich Venezuelians don't want to let go of their privilage or wealth. You can all have a decent life through UNITY. And the first thing to do to UNITE is get rid of CIA influence. And if you think I'm lying research the attempted coup. CIA is all up in your business but keep you from theirs.

  • chavez, is not helping the poor HE IS USING THEM, for votes, did you heard what he said after he lost the referendum on december, it was the people choise and he said it was "shit", the prices on food are super high, so all that u know is that he is not a USA puppet, and... how do you know? all he does is just a bit of insulting other countries... yet those planes that bomb irak run on venezuelan oil, the prises of the food go up. while chavez dresses in armani...

  • You make a good point and I see you are a smart man. He could be a fake. A few insults isn't quite a revolution is it? How militant is he really? Yes, he was hoping to win the referendum, and it is possible that his ego is involved and his way is not the best, but we can see also that the traditional way also doesn't work. Today's system allows to much economic inbalance and international injustice. SO maybe I just like Chavez because at least talks the dream. It is the idea I love perhaps.

  • well about the referendum, you know hes basically doing it again? .. hes doing anopther referendum to impart socialist program on primary and middle school? with 7 out of 10 teachers regected, and the other one is for reelecting himself undefinetly... both laws were rejected by the people on december.... of course Im glad that he unmask the US but, the disrespec he shows for his people is much worse. i know really poor people who are not willing to sell himself to the government though..

  • What do you mean 7 out of 10 teachers rejected? He is socializing elementry and middle school? You mean like the States or something else? You mean it will be government institutions? So do the poor in Venezuela prefer to count on the rich capitalist then a socialist government? Confusing to me. Most unbalanced societies are run by rich capitalist. Are the poor informed on these ideas and different concepts? Maybe I am failing to understand a key element of the venezualain mind.

  • I'll tell you what kind of society capitist produce. Millions with bad health, no health care, millions uninsured, indifferent to war, misinformed, victums to propoganda, afraid of the hidden powers, and millions uneducated. I see Chavez trying to unite south America like Europe united to be as strong as USA. I think a world with 5 big powers is better than having ONE dictatorship. A world where Africa and all countries have the same voice as One. That is equality.

  • listen i really dont care if we have a socialist or capitalist life, as long as venezuelans can be free, secure and of course equal... you are talikng about the realionships between venezuela and other countries and chavez views on capitalism. im talking about venezuelans life quality and stuff that happends inside the country... we are talking about completely diferent isues, what i say is that life quality in venezuela its way much worse than before, everything its more expencive

  • 93% of the crime cases get unsolved and the delinquents unpunished, and the new curiculun that was rejected by the people on december yet they isist... chavez may say its a lie but we venezuelans are not blind and we know the truth cuz we live the truth every single day. Of course he whants to make everyone equal, but that wont apply for the politic figures cuz they want to be the only rich and powerful .... while the people just drowns in a pool of political, economic and social caos

  • then again when he steps up and uses his legal presidential power to decline the renewal of a private news channel that is supporting his assassination and a national military and dictatorial military HE IS SHIT ON AND THE MEDIA GOES CRAZY...

IT will be IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE VENEZUELAN PEOPLE OUT OF POVERTY WITH THIS FUCKED UP MEDIA THAT CONTINUES TAKING AN EXTREMIST AND BIASED PERSPECTIVE WHILE MISINFORMING THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

  • Man just shut up... What the hell are you doing here?? this is a North American Forum.. You'r not even from Venezuela... Maybe you'r with chavez you crazy.. Just let the North American ppl talk...

  • Boy I AM from Venezuela.... What are you talking about? Who told you people here love Chavez? Ah.... maybe it was the Chavez controlled media.... Yes, now I agree with you. Media convinces stupid people.

  • The rightwing (controlling) media has influenced Venezuela so much that people cant seem to see the benefits Chavez has and will continue bringing them BECAUSE ALL THE TIME IS SPENT ON DENYING THIS FALSE INFORMATION INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY WRITING ABOUT THE TRUTH....

  • U GUYS ARE FORGETTING THAT 60% OF THEIR NATION VOTED FOR CHAVEZ IN THE obligatory ELECTIONS, so the poor could miss work and vote (instead of the new YES/NO constituional referendum where they couldnt)AND YET ONLY 10% OF VENEZUELANS HAVE INTERNET ACCESS...that is y the false assumption that Venezuela hates Chavez is created and even supported.

  • This ignorant opposition is lied to on a daily basis by the media that creates any negative rumor known to man towards Chavez.

These people have been lied to so much that they actually believe he is a dictator and compare him to Pinochet or Fujimori.

  • Rock on! Chavez rules!

And yes I am from Venezuela....

  • FUCK USA

  • Interesting to see the Weisbrot fella sees the Clinton guy Mark Penn , Hillary Clinton's Chief strategist, as the opposition? How bizarre? Really-Really? Clinton is the opposition for Chavez, does fact bear no reality any longer?

  • It's funny to see the opposition and a McDonalds on the background :D hahaha.I bet alot of them went to eat a good BigMac after the event mnnnn mnnnn...environment friendly, healthy food mnnnn mnnnn...

  • Venezuela's election went off more democratic than our last 2 presidential elections.

That says alot for Chavez compared to Bush

    and his collective thugs!!!!

  • Video is educational, objective. Indispensable to today's FOX mierda, or CNN's contrived analysis. We must educate ourselves in spite of our controlled media.

  • chavez is an ass ok

  • I'll take this ass anytime! And give you the rest of our murderers and torturers in our government right now! Big Time!

  • im sure u dont know what is lives without freedom, is for that you say that u will take chavez law, do you know that chavez is a killer too? he try on 1992 to take out the democracy ang kill a lot of ppl. and now try to still our freedom.

  • You shall know them by their fruits. So Chavez has made his people responsible parts of their democracy. He's tried to give soc. sec. for the poorest, reign in Central Banks, shared wealth with peoples in crisis, given the poor hope. Pres, Cheney and Bush? Killed 500,000 in Afghanistan, killed some 10,000 of our troops, killed over one million in Iraq, now wants to kill more in Iran while being pushed by Israel Zionists.

Give me Chavez. I'll give you 1,000 Bushes and Cheneys.

  • Why are people so bloody extremist? how the hell is this a "Bush or Chavez" choice?.

True, Chavez's has made things a wee bit better for the lower classes but at what cost? political doctrine, sacrifice of the national economy, shunning of the middle class, political discrimination (google Tascon's list), further loss in educational standards, further centralization of power and i'm not even halfway there.

  • That and Social security's a myth really because while he's built "hospitals" (about 95% of them are a brick hut, as suited to medicine as a barn with pigs and goats) his government hasn't been able to keep supplies in hospitals, doctors flee from public service and he doesn't help unemployed.

And making his people responsible parts of their democracy is good of him...until he started (2007) to cut back on it

  • Our brainwashing by our government and media is amazing. Besides that, people are evaluating these constructions by u.s. standars, gloated, expensive buildings with pricetags that normal people can't afford. I'll take a brick simple building with dedicated doctors to our system of greed and corruption.

  • Au Contrair. I guess anything besides our present government (Bush is not an issue; his intellectual capacity is comparable to a donut)is extreme. I, my son, my friends have been to Venezuela and the elitists were extravagant, arrogant gloats. They live, (ed) in their own secluded enclaves, separated from society and drink and gamble.

  • "The voice of the people has made the Chavez supporters silent." Is someone worried about oil supplies? Don't worry the US has a firm ally and oil supplies in that beacon of democracy and liberty,Saudi Arabia. GWB always listens to the voice of his people; the arms manufacturers, the oil companies, torturers and so on.

  • The voice of the people has made the Chavez supporters silent.

  • According to the heritage foundation, Norway is ranked as "mostry free" economy. The welfare state doesn't mean that a country is socialist, you dumb! Futhermore, the private property always exist in Norway... So, go back to scholl, you lazy french!

  • Learn "engrish"

  • According to the heritage foundation, Norway is ranked as "mostly free" economy. The welfare state doesn't mean that a country is socialist, you dumb. Futhermore, the private property always exist in Norway. So go back to school, you lazy french!

  • Mostly free? Then why is everybody taxed 60%?

  • You must live in America. Many countries in the world have very high taxes--compared to the U.S. of course. Maybe not as high as 60%, but taxes are not really a good indicator of the amount of freedom a nation has.

  • glad that didn't happen

  • If the "yes" proposals were the winner, the leftists would say the it was the people's choice,blah,blah,blah...

This is an example of the "revolutionary mentality". They just cannot accept the fact that there are people that thinks different from them.

  • The Constitution will stay as it is...WE WON!!!

I was in those demonstrations (April 11th 1982) and those gunman, certainly were not conducting "faked" attacks.

PAUL JAY, be responsible and send journalists over here if you are going to "cover" Venezuela.

  • GANAMOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS haber q van hacerrrrrrrrrrrr

  • i wonder how much money was sent by the usa to influence the out come.

  • There's the answer on internet Oilmen said the price they paid, it was just about media. People said that Chavez was going to close all media except gov. but that was just fake and 80% still in the opposition, certainly not like in any 'democratic' country

  • This is the dumbest video I've ever seen... Acoording to this stupid video, Venezuela is a very rich democacry, they even compare presidentialism with parlamentarism... Which is a stupid thing.

This inversion, the meaning change, is tipical of the revolutionay mentality. Second, we never seen on History a socialism regime which were not a dictatorship. Socialism is tyranny!

  • Lol, if you have never seen a solar eclips then it probably doesnt exist right ? Oh by the way Norway is considered as one of the most socialist country, please name the dictator i cannot find him, he's hidden probably ? Paradox: i've never seen a dictator that set up referendum. You're full of pre-concepted ideas in my opinion.

  • Gano el NO viva Venezuela

    Viva la Democracia

    God Bless Venezuela

  • Democracy Won Today! Thats how it should be and Democracy around the world should always be a socialist and a capatilist running thats fucking Democracy Point Blank!

  • Reminder that everything in barrels don't always shoot blanks. Those are the paper reactionaries..Bush just like Hitler! They and the next candidates are not involved in Democracy A socialist and Capatilist running is Democracy! All the candidates are Puppets Point Blank!

  • viva la libertad gano el no despues que perdio hablo y hablo chavez es un cantinflas habla mucho y no dice nada ya queria que llegara el rey a callarlo jajajaja

  • I smell yet another corrupt dictatorship.

  • Spanish King, made difference between YES & NO.

  • Gracias al Rey de España, ha perdido Chávez! Viva Venezuela!

  • You lost motherfucka!

  • He wouldn't have had the referendum if he didn't have the machinery in place to fake the result and give himself dictatorial powers.

The idiot that said this happens in the US, is somewhat right. Ballot boxes from predominately Republican precints have been found floating in San Francisco Bay; Democrat precincts in the San Joaquin Valley have had illegals voting there for over 16 years...how do you think the Dems were able to take the state over from the citizens that live there?

  • Right, it's the Democrats stuffing the ballot boxes. Not the companies that produce digital poll stations that have a stated conservative bent, or companies that pull names of Africans out of a hat and use them to disenfranchise thousands of voters. It's all of the Dixiecrats that left for the Republican party over their racist ideals that have a long history of gerrymandering and disenfranchisement.

  • Democrats rely on fraudulent voter registrations and bribes.

  • So says Bill-O? It seems to be the only time we have complete violations of statistical exit poll results are when the elections fall in favor of Republican candidates.

  • If Chavez relied on fake voting results, then why did he lose?

  • Chavez didn't think he had the slightest chance of losing. His erstwhile muchachos in Brasil and Bolivia didn't lose, and he was arrogant enough to think the Venezuelan voters wanted a dictator.

Next time he WILL win, and it won't be because of letting the populace free with their ideas and votes.

  • well i would not consider this "real" news...its pretty dumb to say he is not trying to become a dictator

  • Viva the new Jesuschrist! Viva Chavez!

  • Ok, you can say that fucking chavez was choosen by majority decision by my people and that he's doing a great job. but the truth is that HE ISN'T, he's doing the completley opposite. but why all you foreign people difer from my opinion, it's becouse you don't get the complete information about it, you just get what this goverment want you to hear. That fucking fuck bag is degrading venezuela internationaly like no one else (like he was ment for it).

  • Actually, our media predominantly portrays Hugo Chavez as a two bit third world dictator. Apparently there are several people who don't entirely agree with you in Venezuela: a majority of them- Democracy is a funny thing isn't it? I think the moment the U.S. tries to kill your leader, you know they're doing at least something right for your country: the U.S. only seems to have ever supported two bit dictators in your region of the world.

  • mark weisbrot can suck my dick, come and live with us in venezuela... right now the sugar, rice, flour, toillette paper and black beans is scarce in the country thx to the bad politics with all the neighboring countries of venezuela!!

  • i live in venezuela, this chavez is a dictator, the referendum for the new constitution is one of the major steps to legalize his atrocities against venezuelan people... i've personally have been attacked with tear gas and rubber bullets shooted by the national guard...

  • This kind of shit happen in the USA also and they don't call Bush a Dictator. Bush passed tje patriot act with asking the people to vote on it. In the USA anyone can be consider a terrorist. Now, they can hear your phone converstions, see your e-mail and bank transactions without you knowing about it. Who is the dictator? Don't let the corporations tell you what to think. Knowledge is power...

  • There are many things to say about the Patriot Act, about two good things and the rest bad. Bush acts like an arrogant dictator about some things, but not others. He isn't someone I admire or would have wanted in power these last three years, but...

  • this is one dictator that needs to be taken down, NOW!!! No matter what Ortega or Castro said, it'd be better for everyone in the Western Hemisphere if this idiot were 'Stalinized.'

  • Retard...Faked attacks? what the hell? a friend of mine is neighbors with the SoB shooting in the video and it's clear he did shoot!

  • you fail. The Venezuelan media made it out the guy was shooting at unarmed opposition protesters below. But they didn't show the other camera angle where the streets were empty below, and he was firing at a sniper who had everybody on the bridge in front of the shooter on the tape crawling to avoid sniper fire.

  • Great theory...they were firing at the dumbest sniper ever seen by mankind (shooting from below, come on!) from a bridge in the march's route a couple of blocks from where the march was headed. two hours before the then vicepresident had called the chavez supporters to attack the march

  • AND at that very second that was not what was being shown on TV...Chavez took that precise moment to intervene all media channels and speak to the nation about defending the revolution (television channels half-ignored law and broadcast split screen)

  • Paul, speak quicker. Lower the echo and noise of the phone sound.

  • If Mark Weisbrot lived in West-Caracas for 1 week without tourist or forigner privileges, he wouldnt say so much shit. He'll be back in the USA licking asses. MARK you're Chavez whore already!

  • what the hell? How is Venezuala more advanced then us? Howd that happen? They're stuck on sugar ethonol though, and thats got pitfalls.

  • mr and president chávez is the best president in the world,

  • I wish our dictator would allow recall votes and referendums.

  • Check out Presidential candidate Mike Gravel and his plan to create a National Initiative.

  • I've been supporting Gravel from the begining!

  • it isn't the president that can control votes. You've skipped your civics lessons and are just a tool of the Radical Left. Put on your Che t-shirt, the one with the big red bullseye on it, so you can be seen easily.

  • No- it's apparently your aggression, and your gun, that should control votes in your opinion.

  • FINALLY someone tells the REAL truth regarding US media's LIES about Chavez... THANKS.

  • Why would the US support and fund the coup in 2002 against a democratically elected official? Remember, our country preaches democracy and liberty. Why? He refuses to be the US's bitch, and let corporations take over that countries works! Viva Chavez!

  • Thank you REAL news for shedding light on the TRUTH concerning Venezuela. These d a m n U.S. news organs are spewing falsehoods concerning the political climate in Venezuela.

  • Chavez = corruption, poverty, killers, dictator, etc. Who lives abroad and supports Chavez should come to Venezuela and see if can SURVIVE one night in Caracas..., see how people REALLY life, what about the "TERROR" people feel cause Chavez and his people when they kill other people in the street!!!! VOTA NO EN EL REFERENDUM 2D!!! VOTE NO IN THE 2D REFERENDUM!!!!

  • Why would the US support and fund the coup in 2002 against a democratically elected official? Remember, our country preaches democracy and liberty. Why? He refuses to be the US's bitch, and let corporations take over that countries works! Viva Chavez!

  • I notice lot of people giving your comment a thumbs down without answering your questions.

  • as an american who now knows some true history of 1860-present day i say anyone that backs the Corprate ownership of oil, land, gold, shipping lanes, ect should be viewed as traitors.Hugo is a patriot who will continue to allow farmers and ranchers a chance in the world..do you see any of that in america? nope the irs,FED kill them throw them off the land for back taxes ect.

  • the US backed opposition will just claim fraud again and refuse to accept the election results like the last one they lost. even the western media is falsely reporting that polls show it will be a close call, using data from polling firms like Datanalisis, which have known links to the opposition.

  • i mean referendum results*, this is not an election lol

  • hey guess what?

  • Hugo is a hero. Hope the CIA doesn't assassinate him.

  • ... or try to destabilise Venezuela even further than they do,"'Advancing to the Last Phase of Operation Pincer'.

  • I REALLY hope the do!

  • So refreshing to see Real news. maybe there is hope for journalism.

  • Yes...maybe there's hope for journalism...but not in Venezuela...that hope is gone a long time ago! "Shoot a Journalist a win a Scooter" will be the 2008 Mision.

  • Long strory short my friend Y2ANJ: "Nationalsozialismus"...and what comes next? SA? SS?

  • It's sad that when the other side of the story is presented and it is not in line with what our media spews out, the brainwashed masses label those presenting the other side as 'liberals' or some other label with negative connotations. It just goes to show you how many of us are sheep and how many are free thinkers. This is the answer to the age old question "Why did the good people of Germany allow Hitler to do the things he did?" History will repeat itself over and over again.

  • so true! They have effectively managed to devide people through lables that what is right is now concidered "extream" or a "concpiracy" another famous word that has caught momentum. Amaizing how the masses have become sheep!

  • It is kind of arrogant to claim is it not that ordinary people are like sheep? They had real issues which previous regimes where unable or unwilling to address. That is why there is Chavez today. He is the product of their policies.

  • But free-thinking is scary and difficult. Won't someone else do it for me?

  • Hitler was Austrian.

  • I wish we had a president like Hugo Chavez.

I might be alone out there in this assessment.

But we have the same kind of government here-- it's just aimed towards the wealthy. Chavez aims his power to provide for the people, who may be poor, but now have a social wage.

  • They have the right to recall Chavez.

We are stuck for 4 years if we make a mistake.

  • the people have voted

  • As far as the right to recall we can empeach.

If the reform had gone through they would be stuck for much more than 4 years, which is my point.

In Cuba there has not been a change in 1/2 century and it would be nice if a new president would replace the dictator every 8 years, even if it remains communist.

  • "THIS REFORM IS AIMED AT ALLOWING GOVERNMENT MORE CONTROL". If it is a government that people can directly participate in, then that shouldnot be a problem. And history seems to indicate that Venezuelans tend to very violently evict Presidents who betray them.

  • In the reform, in a "state of exception" you still have a right to a lawyer, jury by peers, and due process. If Sec Gates or Bush declare you an enemy combatant, bye bye Due process, jury by peers, access to a lawyer, access to directly question accusers. Who's more democratic? Bush's America or Venezuela?

  • EXACTLY!

  • I wish you did too,"I wish we had a president like Hugo Chavez." No need for WMDs, no need for concentration camps, no need to invade and tyrannise poor villagers in foreign lands, and spending of money on social reforms; not on a military-industrial complex; wouldn't be nice if GWB was subjected to a right of recall?

  • GWB is one thing, but in Venezuela the people have voted

  • you haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about westie. When nothing is on the food shelves, when the president is like Sadam and has his gilt palaces and the people are miserable, tell me in your fat life that is what you want. If you want a president like him, go ahead and live there a few months with the 'normal people' and not the priviledged few.

Then tell me you still believe. Till then, you have no chops.

  • The truth is hard to swallow isn't it?

  • you just want to reinforce your own preconceived beliefs

  • More commonly known as facts and evidence. But keep glossing those pesky things over.

  • Who needs you anyway?

  • Everyone's aware of Media Deception, which leaves us with a quandrum of reading between the lines as well as watching as may medias from different countries. Good Luck Venezuelians!....Maybe an indepth piece on

media deception by TRN would spark up some lively debates!....Good work Paul Jay..

  • most of my venezeulan friends say chavez does more for neighbouring country's then he does for venezula.....they say he is a mad man

  • That's a common enough criticism but I think it's selfish and ultimately misguided. Chavez is trying to integrate the economies of Latin America, liberate them from the IMF/World Bank. The first step towards socialism is capital accumulation and economic independence. Venezuela cannot reform itself unless all of South America has greater control over its own economy.

  • why doesnt he integrates the country first and then he looks out 4 the rest of latin america he must be s2pid

  • Do you live in the US. Most Venezuelans who live in the US are in the rich and upper middle class, who are losing power under Chavez. Of course they will hate Chavez.

  • Right now, MANY people in Venezuela hate Chavez.

  • So vague. MANY in the majority or many in the minority? Many in the US or many in Venezuela? I do not know. But the referendum will show interesting results, whatever they turn out to be.

  • I am sorry, you already said many in Venezuela. In any case, let us wait for the referendum results.

  • NOT TRUE!!! I am Venezuelan and live in USA, I work very hard to provide to my family... I had to run away from mu country, because there was no job, no food and i did not want to SUCK Chavez balls as you are doing,.... and just for a food bonus...??? There is no liberty nor FREEDOM!!! I like democracy and I love my country Venezuela....not a comunist system...

  • Thanks for the info and I admire your devotion to your family. By the way Chavez lost the referendum by a narrow margin. Venezuela still remains a democracy, it may still have been if he had won, now we will never know . It will be interesting to see what happens. And I suck up to no one. I am a fan of reason not passion. My problem with the American style liberty and freedom is that I suspect that directly or indirectly, other nations are paying a high price to keep the US rich and free.

  • Interesting- democracy... Prevails? Wouldn't it have passed if everything they claim about Chavez was true? Apparently it's completely functional.
