One of the biggest things I listen for in the pianist...is the clarity in the sound. I want to hear all those wonderful notes...like Kissin, Argerich, Volodos etc. It's not the same as just having excellent dynamics...or articulation. It's the ability to keep the feeling of the piece and still offer all those notes to be heard. I enjoy Valentina's playing mostly for it's natural feel and fluidity. I consider her very good among concert pianists...but clarity is what I listen for the most.
Know all the 4 concerts by Rachmaninoff from several recordings. But for me a version by V. Lisistsa is a definitive one. I admire a succinct clear touch, amazing technique, fantasy and all. Tempo cannot be better, balance between 3 parts is excellent, parts at around 7:20 and 10 in the second movement are electrifying indeed. And, besides all this, freshness of the performance exceeds largely what I have heard until now. I consider V. Lisitsa a very great artist, like V. Horowitz. Bravo!!!
I am going to see her in January. No advertisement, no notice. The serious music community does a pretty bad job tailoring its advertising where I live. I suggest multiple diligent google searches to find a show near you!
I dont know much about this young lady, but she sure can play. Much better performance than whatever was on an old record I used to listen to 35 years ago.
A lot of us would, monobrow. Valentina is an avid performer, who shares with us who don't have the gift. So many prodigies are reclusive and dislike performing.
Amazing, I'd prefer that she played it faster in the beginning though, also the violins sound way too rough, still those are minor problems, as this sounds amazing.
There is a bell-like clarity to this woman's interpretation. I truly enjoyed this. I want to hear more of her...

Valentina has to be without any doubt one of the greatest virtuoso pianists of this century

I'm sure her, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan would all tell you it's easier to just practice all day, just like they did.

What's she doing in Korea? Is she affiliated with an orchestra in Seoul?
