  • well all you have to do is put a leash on his collar and don't tie it on a bar, just let it sit on the bar so if the dog does end up falling the leash just comes with him instead of strangling him =)

  • lol whehn he starts hes like, WTF, WHY IS THE FLOOR MOVING?

  • LOOK AT HIS TAIL :) NAW<3

  • That'a not torture the dog not cowering or shows any fear or anything hes fine! I work with PETA I've seen torture give ur fuckn heads a shake!!!!!!!

Cops do that also other government places or maybe did u ever think hes giving his dog a bit more exercise for heath reasons such as swimming for arthritic reasons??? Get a life guys like really!

  • Treadmilling is a great way for dogs to get additional needed exercise in any weather, so long as they're allowed to get used to (and hopefully enjoy) it, set up to be comfortable and safe, and supervised.

  • okay people LISTEN UP. i have a husky too. they are EXTREMELY ENERGETIC and have an UNDYING DESIRE TO RUN. i make it a goal to run with mine an hour or two a day during dusk and dawn for the cooler temp. FOR THOSE OF YOU SAYING IT IS CRUEL...just because the treadmill wasnt "designed" for dogs, does not mean they are any less capable of using it as safely as we do. regardless of the species, intelligence prevails.

  • I run on the treadmill with my German shepherd on rainy/cold days he loves it. And when I'm busy with something and he brings me his leash to go on a walk I just put him on the treadmill and when I'm done he had a great exercise. We take a weekly trip to the dog park also, he's happy as can be. Also people underestimate how smart dogs actually are, my German shepherd jumps off the treadmill when he gets tired. He also opens gates and doors...-which is annoying, but I love mutt. -3

  • I don't like the idea of putting a dog on a treadmill. If you want him to get exersize, take him out yourself!!! He needs fresh air too...Plus!, what if he fell, tripped, or his leg got stuck on it, its dangerous and cruel!! Poor dog..

  • kudos for you excersizing your dog. huskys need to burn extra energy so a treadmill Is absolutely perfect. I think the owner understands that the treadmill doesn't replace walks, the point of this video was to show that dog enjoys it!

  • that dog loves that shit. needs a longer treadmill thou seems like its a litle short.

  • Sweet! How long did it take ur dog to get used to it? I've been tryin to train my dog, but she freaks out like crazy. please let me know each step on how u accomplished this !Thanks!!!!

  • Yea, that's terrible torture. *sarcasm explosion*

  • Poor husky...

  • After periodic running for about 15-17 years your dog may die.

    Be prepared.

  • lol how those idiots think this is animal abuse. The dogs clearly love it. If they didn't like it they would jump to the side to get off, no big deal.

It amazes me how stupid some people are. We seriously need natural selection, like in the ancient days.

  • its not toture. i just watched a vet video about it.

  • Its not torture, the dog fucking likes it, hes waggin his tail and shit.

  • I think you should remove the word "torture" on the caption of your video. Some people here would rather have dogs lead a short life for lack of exercise, just to voice out their misplaced and overzealous defense of animals ... to the point they have to interpret it as trouble even the slightest sign of stress animals experience. Exercise is stress that makes a dog strong. Treadmills are built for exercise. Hats off to your dog ... and to you for keeping your dog fit!

  • This dog could go away from t-mill anytime he wished. No torture observed.

I knew a airedale -terrier who only liked to go upstairs. He climbed any hill he could reach. Going downstairs was a real problem, he barked a lot.

  • @Clopodav rofl

  • Oh yea this is obviously torture for the dog, look how angry he is, he got rabies all around his mouth and is barking and looks sad. Shut up,

Look at his tail easiest way to tell if any animal is happy especially dogs, dogs express there feelings by wagging their tails or having it stick up constantly, this dog couldn't be happier, and dogs aren't stupid, if he didnt want to walk on the treadmill it would simply jump off.

  • i think its amazing how u get your dog to do that

i have a german shepard about 9 months old and hes bigger than that dog but he wont go anywhere near the treadmill. ive never seen him have as much energy to not do something as he does when he knows we have the treadmill out..

  • dude...

take him out for a walk

  • TraumaER how is this dog weird I think u are weird for saying that I think that dog is a goodlooking dog u are proully fat and ugly and u have to put dogs down because humans aren't even in the ballpark with u u fat fucking slut keep ur comments to ur sellf u fat bitch

  • I was on my treadmill doing my walk and my Jack Russel jumped up on it and like nobody's business!!!

  • Hes sooooooo beautiful whats his name. When I get a husky I will teach it many tricks

  • @Arcanineluvr good luck with that

  • @buddy39914 thxs

  • why dont u like just run outside with the dog, instead of biend a treadmill, its more effective if you go outside and let the dog run after the car when you have it leased to it:D

  • Only problem with this is how do you know when the dog's tired and wants to stop? He/she could get hurt.

  • How? There is nothing preventing the dog from getting off when he's done with it.

  • Maybe we should put your fat ass on the treadmill then. This is animal cruelty!!!

  • My "fat" ass hiked, with equipment, several miles thru woods and terrain yesterday. And yeah, I still use the treadmill when I can't get out because of weather. Why do you *really* think this is cruelty? Is it cruel for me to put myself on the treadmill? No. Was it cruel for me to bring the dogs with me on the hike yesterday? No. Is it really cruel that my dog begs me to start the treadmill for her, and then when she's done she steps off and comes in and licks my face? No. You moron.

  • Next time ask your dogs if they like being on the treadmill. I'm pretty sure if you told them to run in the street they would too. Dogs listen to their owners. Doesn't mean they like doing what their owners say. Get serious.

  • Completely serious. Did you not read the part where I said she begs me to put her on the treadmill? Search through videos for "dog on treadmill" and you will see several where the jumps up and down on the treadmill begging for it to be turned on. She gets on, I go over and turn it on for her, and turn it up to the pace she wants it to be, and leave her to it. When she's done, she jumps off and I go shut it off. Nobody's forcing her to do something she dislikes, thus it's not cruelty.

  • Well I've seen some videos on here that have the dog put on and then they speed the treadmill up trying to see how fast the dog can run or something. Maybe in your case it isn't cruelty. :)

  • True, that's just plain mean. Dogs are like humans, they can "jog" for long times, but "sprint" for short times. Pushing the speed to the maximum they can tolerate is plain mean. When I lived in the country, my dog used to run along side of my Jeep when I'd leave the house (over a mile before the nearest road off our property) and she could sprint up to about 25 mph, but just for a few seconds. The dog-specific treadmills are best because they aren't powered, the dog sets its own pace.

  • Agreed. Those old school treadmills that had a little pulley were where its at. I'd also put some padding around it so the dog doesn't snap their legs.

But yeah the ones that try to increase the speed are cruel. The dog will let its heart explode before stopping because that is all it knows.

  • my dog loves it! she does it for fun, and I'll find her sitting on the tredmill begging for it, and my yard is big and I take her for walks every day. It's something new and she adores it.

  • your dog is weird

  • If you read a treadmill's manual you're supposed to stop it and then get off to prevent slipping and falling.

  • Yes, I'm sure the treadmill's manual was written with spry, agile canines in mind. No, of course it wasn't. It is written with the safety of some elderly person in mind, who might just happen to slip and break a hip if they tried to step off the treadmill going 1 mph.

  • What a smart dog!

How'd you get him to do this? Could you make a video about how to do it? I can't walk my schnauzer twice a day cause I've got a lot to do and need to cut it down to once I walk her.

  • No, No you all got it all wrong. See it's crew to make your dog exercise because they burn fat cells/calories. Also it causes them to build muscle and expand their cardiovascular system, very unhealthy for animals. Lastly and most importantly is friggin politically incorrect and Peta will get you!!!

  • Are you trying to be ironic or just stupid?

Please explain why burning FAT which CLOGS arteries and BUILDING muscle is BAD.

  • who's being stupid now?

  • I think we can all see who's being stupid here.

  • if the dog doesn't like it he will refuse to go on it in the first place.

  • If your dog is fit, then he wouldnt mind walking. If your dog is fat than he needs walking. So either way it doesnt matter.

  • so cutee =] i dont see how its torture

    the dog looks perfectly pleased

  • i think dogs like exercise and enjoy it...

  • jesus man, there dogs. what do you mean "i think"

  • idk, my dog likes going on the treadmill. :]

  • They *absolutely* do. They cannot be happy without it. What is cruel are all the people who buy an active breed dog and then force the dog to remain indoors, or in a small yard where they can't get any exercise, and then allow the dog to become obese. That... that is cruelty. Letting a dog do what it loves... that is not cruelty. If I could figure out what makes dogs LOVE to exercise, and adapt it to humans, I would be a billionaire overnight.

  • faster

    fasteR

    fastER

    fasTER

    faSTER

    fASTER

    FASTER FASTER!

  • Good job! I love to see people doing good for their dog, more people need to realize it.

  • FFUCKCKKKKK UUUU IT NOT TORTURE U DFFASG,dfmABV DFV\

  • torture? I didn't see any.

    nice dog.

  • om u rasist idiotic boobatron that is mean so what hes black it aint his fault and whats wrong wid bein black and his dog is adorable

  • If Cesar Milan can do it, why can't this owner.. In fact, Cesar (The Dog Whisperer) put a smaller dog on a treadmill at a faster clip... If you're complaining at this pace, you ought see The Dog Whisperer.. In you're opinion, he's much harsher.

  • i actually started doing this with my dog because of ceaser millan, i have a pit and even after i walk him for 45 min he needs more excercize people that think this is cruel know nothing about dogs. whats worse a pit with so much pent up energy he is likley to snap on someone or a well excercised calm submissive dogs, read a book if you think this is in anyway bad or cruel to the dog

  • You cruel bastard. How could you do this to this poor animal. Seriously. He's in so much pain. If that was MY dog... Okay, I can't keep this up any longer. People that think this is mean, or some sort of cruelty to animals need to lighten up and quit being so damned stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • i think its only cruel if thats the only execise a dog gets but yours looks very happy :)

  • Amazing.

  • nice doggy i love dogs :D

  • It's a HUSKY! They love to walk all damn day long. It might be torture for him if you walked him any less! :)

  • @kevjohn2006 Acually, Its not only that, Its dangerous the dog could get hurt, caught, strangled, or he could fall

  • Great work! Many people do not realise how much exercise high-energy dogs need. now leaving a dog on one tied to it, not a good idea, but watching and training, perfect, especially on rainy days or dogs with more stamina than you.

  • If you would read harrischrysler's comments, you would see that he DOES walk his dog, 3-6 miles a day, and then puts the dog on the treadmill AFTERWARD, for half an hour. Pretty responsible dog owner, IMO.

  • it can get off you retarded retard

  • You need to build his leg muscles and I think its no torture

  • how is this dog being tortured?

3 to 6 miles a day is really nothing compared to how much they usually walk a day on their own.

  • at the first when he whent on i thought he or her sorry was about to go off

  • I tried this and my dogs just won't walk on it and fly off the end, even though I have it on slow and really praise them.

Your dog looks like they are enjoying it

  • Try putting a treat in front of them to keep them on it. Dogs love treats!

  • lol, 1 time i put a treat at the front, and my dog jumped off the treadmill wlaked around 2 the front and then just grabbed it out of my hand, (she was kinda fat)

  • At first do what he did and put a treat in your hand to get it walking...then it realises It's meant to be walking and carries on..although i don't know how you would get it off..=]

  • lol the dog looks like he's having fun :)

  • how is this cruel? i think its cruel if the dog is left there for hours...with a short leash unlike this dog which doesnt have a leash at all!

  • very obediant dog, good demo, but maybe you need excersise too haha

  • what a good husky!!

  • how did you train your dog to od that...my dog wotn ive been trying with treats and everything!

  • First I just walked him up onto it several times. While he was standing there I would give him some praise, no treats. Then did that with it barely moving. It took about 15-20 times in a row to get him just running right up on it. I always start slow then ease in some speed. Never used a leash, had to convince him without force that it was a good thing.

  • @harrischrysler

Great technique, you're right, it's rubbish to say it's wrong to let your dog run on a treadmill, I can't see any way it could harm a dog, though I would say it might be a little lonely for the dog. (Walking in a pack is everything in the dog world).

The leash can be reassuring for a dog, so don't fear using a leash to coax him on... Just try a few things and take your time, you'll find what works for you and your dog...

  • @Doubledee90

Try better treats, though if he won't take food, you need to take it slower and more gently, just get your dog used to being near the treadmill when it's off, then when it's running, etc until he makes the leap onto it... Take your time and be patient and it will come eventually... Let the dog take it at his own pace or you will lose his trust (especially if he refuses treats (that's bad)).

  • Wow, it's so cruel that that completely unteathered dog is having fun and getting excersize. lol

  • fuck PETA gosh they swear like if hes torturing the dog on the treadmill...

  • Fuck PETA. But anyways, a lot of people think treadmills are only part of dog fighting rings and are torture devices, but it's actually a sport, although the best way is to get a non motorized treadmill for the dog to go as fast or as slow as they want, you should check it out. AAPBA extreme treadmill sprint.

  • Wrong.

The Peta people said tieing your dog up with a leash on a treadmill is torture because some dumbass kept his dog on a short thing and it collapsed and started strangling itself and rubbing on the fast moving treadmill.

They basically said dont chain your dog up to the treadmill to make it run.

  • I think if PETA told me smoking was bad, I'd have to go somewhere else and verify that... Just sayin... What got me started was some Israeli woman on a morning t.v. show saying "never put a dog on a treadmill, with or without a leash, they are designed for people not dogs. And I would call that torture." Then I went and made this video.

  • Generally Peta is right about animals. Just, only listen to what they say about hurting animals, not anything else they say.

  • If the dogs dont want to be on the treadmill, then they simpally get off.Its not torture

  • No, I mean, the guy kept it on a short leash so IT COULDNT get off.

  • thats no torture you moron, hes not making the dog do shit, the dog looks like its having fun too.

  • Well, 1.He isnt trapped 2.Dogs really need exercise!

  • I think the only "cruel" thing is when people tie their dogs leash onto the treadmill so they can't get off without pulling their collar tight against their neck. I also think it's a lot better when there are no rails blocking the sides of the treadmill like the ones made especially for dogs have because I'm pretty sure a dog's instinct would be to jump off the side when they are done instead of letting themselves be pulled backwards.

  • There are guide dog programs that use normal people treadmills to teach the dogs to pull in harness and it's been a great addition to these programs! The dogs are happy, there is less stress on the instructors joints, and they can work inside when the weather is bad.

  • Nice video! You obviously did a good job positively associating your dog with the treadmill. Dogs need so much exercise!

  • Bullcrap. If the dog doesnt like it, they would get off. I am buying a treadmill for exercise and I plan on teaching my dogs to use it. Nothing wrong with it at all. A husky takes serious walking and to help me out and to wear her out more, I am going to get her on a tread. Esp my springer. No matter how long you take them for a walk they are still mad.

  • oh yeah, my springer is always full of energy, and we live in chicago. last night we got a foot of snow, and i cant walk him for an hour like in the spring. theres no other choice but to use our treadmill. we just need to get him used to it.

  • Dogs enjoy it. If they didnt then they wouldnt use it. Tying them on is not a good idea due to strangulation. But if the dog likes it, then why not!?

  • exactly! i wish mine didnt bark when i turned it on, but his trainer is coming tomorrow to get him used to it.

  • thats so cool i could never get my dogs to do that they'd get 2 scared

  • First I got scared scared cuase it was like, (tortue) but then I found out the dog was doing it 4 fun. :p

  • HAHA my dogs can do that but only on 0.7 because she is only 2 months

  • i love huskeys so much :D

and i know im going to get alot of replys to this saying "you spelt it wrong" or "its not a huskey its a whatever blah blah blah!"

but i dont care and ill swear at you ^^

  • The guide dog school I went to uses treadmill training for the dogs. It's not bad at all if you go about it the right way! If you tie your dog to the treadmill and leave them there, then it's not good, but if they can jump off when they want to and you keep an eye on them so you know when they want to stop then it's fine, and a lot healthier than an obese dog!

  • There are some little jackoffss going around and flagging videos of dogs running on treadmills. YouTube removed mine and said it was a violation. I pulled all my videos off here after that. People can be so ridiculous.

  • i think it is great, provided you introduce it in the right way!! your dog obviously completely trusts the tredmill and you!! they shouldnt't be tied, just as I wouldnt ant to be tied, but i think what you have trained your dog to do is wicked!! good on you!!

  • Yeah. Torture. Gosh. If the dog didn't want to do it, it would get off. It's not like s/he's being forced! The dog looked really happy and relaxed with it. I love treadmills. But I'm crazy.... *0_0*

  • that looks like the dog WANTS to be on the treadmill

  • That is a good looking dog. And a fit looking one as well.

  • Dog looks like he's having a great time!

  • Handsome breed. He doesn't look tortured to me. ;)
