  • Wow...yes...that's what it's all about...Got to see her at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle...Etta James passed away today...RIP....and I started reminicing about music and artists and how they make you feel when you hear them do what they do...And how it brings you back to certain times in your life...happy and sad...you realize you are still alive....

  • Love the guy @ 4:13 - that's what it's all about. So joyous!

  • io la vidi a Cagliari fu un bellissimo concerto!

  • Deedles!

  • DIVINA!

  • Sing It , Deedles !! xo

  • THIS ... is Jazz

  • Awesome

  • still a joy to hear and see her belt it out!

    thx for posting!

  • Superb track....lovely voice up there with Ella

  • For this song, the conductor was unnecessary.

Diane was conducting it from the mic 2:46

  • i listen to this when i'm really missing home. thanks for posting

  • Literally...I listen to this every Sunday afternoon. Song reminds me of springtime in DC. Great vibes!!

  • Wow!!!, Luv at 1st hear... ear-gasism

  • No one can kick it like Ms. Schuur.. :)

  • Diane S is my cousin! Ive been to her house in California! She has a great voice and is an amazing woman

  • What artistry! I just keep coming back to her even after watching all these great kids on American Idol. Diane is just so special.

  • Is that Bill Prince on sax? What a monster....

  • Is that Bill Prince on sax? What a monster....

  • the very best of the best!!!!!!!!

  • Never fails to make me feel good !, Such a jazzy sexy song , Thumbs up D Schuur!!!

  • The very very very very BEST!!!! ONE LOVE!

  • She's a historic figure in her genre. This woman can siiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggg.

    YOu go now girl!!!!

  • WHICHEVER OF YOU MADE THAT REMARK, I HAVE ONE QUESTION: "DID YOU RIDE THE SHORT-BUS TO SCHOOL?"

  • ‹(•¿•)› Deedles ‹(•¿•)›

  • Awesome!

  • if this voice doesn't give you chills then you may not have a pulse

  • this just superb !

  • I think that even if she yelled at me it would sound so harmonic and beautiful...

  • "I can't wait to SEE my baby soon!" Really??

  • @mulusonic Jackass.

  • @am4516 No need to call names. I just think the choice of words is interesting. She refers to "seeing" in a few of her songs I've heard. Maybe she becomes different characters though her music. Or maybe she doesn't "see" with her eyes, so to speak. My intentions were not to offend. I just thought it was an interesting observation. Love the song, though.

  • @mulusonic JUST when i think that no one could be dumber than my brother you come along. Using the phrase "I see..." is an "expression."

When someone explains something to you do you sometimes say, "I see."

Do you really "see" the idea they're explaining?

Get an education. Read a book.

  • @discos1 APOLOGIES TO MULUSONIC!

REMARKS ABOUT "SEEING" WERE MEANT FOR AM4516

  • What a nice song, it's just amazing!!

  • I've been playing this clip over and over for about 3 days now. I figured it's about time that I comment on it. This tune is so infectiously swinging that you start to tap you feet without even realizing it. Great band and an equally great singer in "Deedles" Schuur. That's all I have to say. Now, I'll resume the toe-tapping.

  • this is a groove for lovers!

  • Deedles, You are fabulous! I was looking through videos of the Mighty Joe Williams with the Count and remembered "I caught a touch of your love" and searched you. I had ALMOST forgotten you. Baby, you are unforgettable. I am going to play you for my honey, Ashley, so she can hear a great vocalist like you.

  • I so love this woman, she has so much emotion and passion when she sings, I saw her once live, incredible !!!! thx for the video =D

  • If there's a better female jazz vocal---and I mean BETTER---someone please let me know.

  • YES. LORD. I wish Deedles recorded Gospel because she takes me to church.

  • DIANE! DEEDLES! BABY, YOU'VE STAYED AWAY FROM CHICAGO TOO LONG!!!!!!!!!

    PLEASE COME BACK!!!!

  • Listen carefully and tell me if you wouldn't marry her just the way she is right there.

What a lovely human being. All with an ear I'm sure would agree. I'm not religious but I hope she's in good shape.

  • Boricuajazz... And I love this part of your Jazz singer Life... Diane allways will an adorable Singer... With GRP, too.... Thank You, My Friend... xoxo

  • great song! amazing singer!!

  • brava ,bravissima . italy

  • WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great voice!!!!!!

  • Diane Schurr,,,damn she's an inspiration to all singers.

  • Brilliant! She gives me chills;)) Saw this on PBS YEARS ago....I think the Boston Pops was accompanying her. Always hummed this in my head but couldn't find it...til now!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • I followed them all Aretha, Whitney, Gladys Knight, Joss Stone, Yolanda Adams Patti Labelle, Anne Nesby(former lead singer with Sounds of Blackness) to name a few! but this lady is such a cool singer, and blows me away especially on this particular song. I f you like her check out another cool jazz singer , Barbara Morrison and her song ''Dont touch me" amongst other great songs she does!

  • Greet Song! Vieeln Dank!

  • My dream to sing with such a superb orchestra behind me. You go Diane! Thanks for posting Boricuajazzz8

  • Nice video!

  • this song killing me softly ~~~~~~~~~

  • The more I listen to this song, the more I love it.

  • Why does sunday afternoon always make me a little sad?

  • @tontonrhythm123 It's an interesting phenom. I've heard others express the same sentiment. I suspect it may have something to do with the work week ahead. or, perhaps the the end of the week.

  • je me régale !!!! :)

  • Loveliest thing I've seen in years. It makes me tear up it's so accurate and soulful.

  • HOT!!!!!!!!! Like Schelle70, I agree that she kicks most current "stars" out of the room!! And without all of that gymnastic vocal drivel that passes for ability. It's such a shame that today's music market places more value on writers singing their own stuff and not enough due is given to vocal interpreters!! So satisfying to hear a singer's singer!!!! Bravo!!

  • Lovely!

    R

  • I remember watching this on PBS

  • Excelente, excelente!!!

  • Good alto solo!!

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTISTS EVER!

  • The note Deedles hits at the end of this song is a perfect (no exageration) blend of head and chest voice. You can hear the "ring" of the head voice, intensely supported by the chest voice.

  • You know billygoyboy, That album of Sarah Vaughn's, Send In The Clowns , with the Count Basie Orchestra , is one of my FAVE albums ....SO SO good ... I like her also better than Ella ...She got better with age and her voice became richer ...But still...Diane is in that company for sure ..Period !! xo

  • NOBODY, NOBODY will ever be better than ella but diane is a top drawer singer. i have been a fan since her debut on the tonight show with johnny carson.

  • Perselljefferson1, Sorry but my whole life I 've heard Ella the Best but she Certainly isn't better than Sarah Vaughn..NEVER and Deedles is just AS great ...anything else is just just name cachet and Hype...that's the Truth !!!

  • @PeaceFan1 The Divne One's version of "Send in the Clowns", is in my humble opinion the best version I've ever heard.

  • Brilliant... her voice makes me feel so good.... a True Master of Jazz ...as great if not better than Ella or anyone in that Genre ..Period !!! xo

  • Better than Ella?! Maybe not, but certainly in the same class. Definitely the reigning queen of jazz!

  • she's "one" of the best, never Ella!

  • It seems to be a nice day. Since Xavier runns away. And big Dieter swept the Bohlen away.

  • This song is well over 20 years old and it's still the bomb. Other singers have sung their versions of this classic but Diane's is still the best. I absolutely love it! It picks me up when I'm down. May GOD continue to bless Diane Schuur!

  • picks me up too!

  • Love it, and Diane Schuur

  • BLESS YOU! THANK YOU!!!

  • I love this song! Thanks for posting!

  • Give me a low point during the day, and I go to Diane for Schuur help. "Louisiana Sunday Afternoon," "Southwind," and "When October Goes"--does it get any better or what?

Saw her at the Grove Park in Asheville three winters ago, and I've been in love ever since. Be sure to check out her site, too. Todd Williams

  • Que cancion, lindisima, nadie puede cantar como ella.

  • fabulous!

  • Saw her this week at the Blue Note in NYC - FANTASTIC"""

  • I love this song. Diane is such a briiliant vocalist and does it without all the melisma, screaming, and pure and utter BS that todays supposed "stars" cannot even hold a candle to. Well done,Ms. Schuur.

  • @Schelle70 Love this song, this woman and the band are just awesome.

  • wow

  • Oh my.............

  • I had the opportunity to watch and listen to one most amazing Ms Schuur at Casino del Sul--in Tucson, Arizona--Holy mackerel...I was in tears.

GOD is really good to me!!!

  • Totally AWESOME!

  • Wonderful singer I think she's underated she should be up there with STREISAND ELLA,

  • Absolutely LOVE it.

  • Diane è brava ma tu , "boricuajazzz8" che hai disattivato il codice lo sei meno, molte meno. Se inserirò dei video il codice,io,lo lascerò libero proprio per condividere il tutto. peccato!

  • brilliant and beautiful

  • boricuajazzz8 My fear is that Diane Schuur is the last of the great siren song singers. Do you agree or are there torch singers out there that I don't know?

  • OMG! Thank you for post it! This song is one of the favorites of my life. When I used to have sing class this was my favorite to pratice and always a success when I presented. Love it!

  • I just saw her yesterday, June 6 09. She's still great!

  • How was the experience?

  • I hope this finds you well...you're a Monster...

    Keith

  • Thank you for the comment.

  • Musica che lascia il segno... musica che ti prende l'anima...

Bellissima canzone: anche in Italia ascoltiamo "Diane Schuur"... Grande...

  • Grande cantante -chao-

  • Diane your the best. I love you.

  • Yes no thought.

  • Groovin !

  • She's the best.

  • I saw her in 97 with the Basie Orchestra. She's amazing.

  • Thanks for the visit.

  • She is very white. She has the most beautiful porcelain skin I have ever seen. I was very fortunate to have been to a couple of her performances and she is soooo amazing! I read that she was very much influenced by Dinah Washington. This is one of very favs of Diane. I especially love it because, I , too was born and raised in New Orleans and remember a lot of Sunday afternoons. Thanks so much for posting this. I have it on her album, but to see her "live" is extra special !

  • It really doesn't matter to me what color her skin is or her race. She is a great performer. But for your informacion she is of African descent.

  • ladies and gentlemen, lighten up, she has a wonderful voice great jazz singer who cares what race what colour.

  • Hey! Don't get your panties in a knot, it was just a question from somebody. I don't care what race she is, white, black, green or pink... She is a great singer.

  • oh what the hell, if Africa is the place where man first walked this earth then we all have a little rythmn hiding in there somewhere, just like this song and band is great

  • Funny!

  • She certainly "sounds" as if she is African American---you know, that certain "something" in her voice and in her inflection. I heard the same thing in Mariah Carey's voice when people weren't even speculating about her ancestral roots.

I love "Louisiana Sunday Afternoon" because I was born in New Orleans & I know what it means to "...feel desire burning in the street..."

    Thanks, again!

  • Great observation, "jolvare". But in relation to Mariah Carey's roots, her ancestrals roots are African-American/Venezuelan & Irish-American. Great mix... I personally love every race. I'm a people person... - bye-

  • "NNDB" website describes her race as "white"

  • I know but she really is African American.

  • legendary,a true stylist, the greatest white female jazz singer since anita oday

  • For your information Ms. Schuur is not white, she may have light skin but she's African American.

  • No, get outta town! How do you know...?

  • Are you pulling my leg or asking a real question, sure she is half black.

  • Top, or bottom half?

  • Wow, I have GOT to get me a pair of good looking glasses like she has. Do you think her personal assistant bought her those as a joke? "Here Diane, you will look FAB in these. Trust me."

  • Don't be stupid man, those glasses are for blind poeple. Damn!

  • So then her assistant was playing a very wicked trick on her, I think.

  • Maybe...

  • I've listened to several versions of this tune lately.

No one, and I mean no one, can top this lady.

    Feeling, passion, and soul.

    Exquisite.

    Dig it, daddy-o ~

  • She is a great singer i'm glad you liked it.

  • My greatest Hits CD of her is worn at this song, one of my fav's too. Thanks for posting!

  • She great.

  • This is my favorite Diane Schurr tune... thanks for posting

  • I'm glad you like it. It's also my favorite Diane Schurr tune. Thanks for stopping by...

  • shes plain awesome, nice vid

  • Great video clip! Diane Schuur is a great treasure that many people do not know about. There are not many singers who sound better in person than theo do in the studio, but Deedles schuurly is one of them!

  • That's truth! Thanks for the comment...
