  • like you, anger is very hard for me to control. I come from a military family with 5 older brothers and no sisters, so in my house anger was always resolved through violence. Now that i am an adult i have learned that i can not use violence to channel all my anger, its difficault but i now have 100% control of it. However, when i take the meds they gave me, i simply lose control and almost always end up hurting someone else. Do you notice a difference in your anger management with/without meds?

  • I'm Bipolar and I'd turn around and knock that little shit out!

  • i am stephanie live in usa 33 years old have 2 kids and huband. just got ouy of jail after ten days over christmas. was put on zyprexa and flipped out with hallusonations. have been diagnosed since i was 19 . time released depakote works for me and ativan' i have an anger issue and love to put people in their place. bi polor can sometimes can be used as an atvantage. just have hope. The world is not out to get me.

  • @MontySprings yea lol? well at least my face doesn't look like an old shoe.

  • @MontySprings really??? I don't think ignorant judgemental people should have kids either.

  • have the meds helped with the angerrrrrr? i mean how can they help?? really? how can meds help you control yourself. the only thing to help you control yourself is yourself. have some willpower, I'm bipolar too and I don't take meds and I control the whole disease, I'm schizophrenic and I control that too. it just seems kinda silly. if your mad at the principal from your kids school it might be because they are assholes. theres nothing wrong with being mad and not taking shit off of people.

  • your kid's vice principle probably reacted that way because vice principles are usually kind of uptight! please don't feel bad about what you did! i've done some pretty crazy stuff too like break my boyfriend's laptop and kick his car door in :( i don't know why i let it out on the people i love the most, but it feels really good when you inform people about your condition so they understand. even if they still don't get it, don't worry; it's not your fault. :)

  • thanks for making this video and having the confidence to post this. your sons funny :) i have regular violent outbursts and was recently diagnosed bipolar. if you see some of my comments on youtube they go from "you are so awesome!" to "i hate you go die" it's really ridiculous to be honest and i don't know how to control it. for some reason when i drink is when it gets the worst so i'm going to stop completely i actually threw all my alcohol away. i wish more people would understand what it is

  • i have been trying to tell my g.p for ages i need help i think am going nuts some days .last week i chased a guy with an axe and if i had cought him i would of chopped his fucking head off the doctor just gave me a phone number and they r going to ring me next week luckily am on a manic this week, but i cannot say what will happen in an hour from now.why do thwy just leave people that maybe at risk.

  • HELLO,newly gat 52.Antidepressants since 1988 ...but...that was really Bipolar.Knew I was getting really sick for the last 5 years but I tried to hide it.Could NOT hide my violent or anger outbursts.MUst learn to put the breaks on that behavior.

  • gurl, the bi makes u angry, it controls u

  • u need to turn around, smack the PISS out ur kid, then smoke sum budz

  • @deezlesteezle no. her kid is fine. he's happy! what the hell is wrong with you?

  • did you ever consider taking cyanide as a med ? believe me its an ultimate cure.

  • @aslkdjfalasdfasfsads what the hell.... :(

  • @aslkdjfalasdfasfsads what the fuck is wrong with you? stop talking to people with mental illnesses like that you are a horrible person >:(

  • Your kid in the background is pissing me off. This video didn't help me at all!!! *Breaks stuff around my apartment*

  • I have a friend whos bipolar 1. I actually found out that he was suffering from that condition and he eventually seeked professional help and medications. Nothing seems to be working though. the last few months he is either on a manic or a mixed episode and this is getting me very tired. I want to be there for him as a friend to support him, but right now I feel i need someone to support me. He tends to get violent and and emotionaly abusive. Should I stay or go?

  • I suggest you try smoking some pot and learning to meditate, good luck calming down

  • @sennnnsi I'm on the track you suggest! You are very intuitive. I'm very glad you watched and commented. :-)

  • @sennnnsi

I agree with you. I im bipolar and was pumped full of meds for years which didnt help me one bit. I still had outbrusts of rage, and regular mood swings and felt like a zombie. A friend of a friend introduce me to mediation and pot and it has completely changed my life for the better. I no longer take prescription meds instead i meditate daily along with smoking one spliff per day and i now love my life and have been stable for almost 4 yrs THANK GOD FOR CANNABIS AND MEDITATION :)

  • @sennnnsi No, that's fun, but it's WRONG. The grass can cause psychotic reactions in bipolars.

  • lol at ur son :)

  • I was having problems with irritablity & volatile outbursts. My psych dr changed my Seroquel from the regular to the extended release (XR). It has helped a lot. Apparently, they discovered the XR has this effect, kind of calming, but not like you get from something like Xanax or Ativan. I am better able to stop myself before I do something damaging or embarrassing. It has helped, not gotten rid of it completely. I can let little things go easier. Did I already tell you this? Good advice. Thanks.

  • I'm going to ask my psychiatrist about XR for Seroquel. I think you mentioned XR for Lithium as well. I don't see my doc until the end of the month so I'm going to do some Internet investigation and then call my pharmasist. I find I get violent with PMS. Both times I was locked in hospital I looked out the window, saw a full moon and on the spot started my period. I really keep track of my cycle and the moon as well now. Interesting huh!?!

Your symptoms are familiar to me. Thanks for commenting

  • I was unable to take regular lithium due to severe tremors before I could get anywhere near a therapeutic dose. I spent years on meds that didn't work - Tegretol, Trileptal, Lamictal, Topomax, Depakote, Neurontin, etc. Then Lithium extended release came out, called Lithobid here, and I was able to take it. For the first time I felt some kind of regulation with no side effects. I LOVE extended release! You only have to take it once a day.

  • @PennyAnn25 Hi, i'm also on seroquel, what dose of seroquel are you on? I'm 300mg XR and it's not doing anything for my anger issues...

  • @madbandicooot I take 600mg, mainly for controlling mania and psychotic symptoms, secondly to make sure I sleep every night and changed to the XR to help with irritability. It helped, didn't completely get rid of it.

  • @PennyAnn25 i see, Iv'e got schizophrenia, but I don't really want to raise the dose much higher, as I'm worried about side effects like tardive dyskinesia, It's great for sleep though I fall to sleep straight away sinc ebeing on this drug!

  • @madbandicooot I worry about that too. So far so good. But psychosis scared the crap out of me and Seroquel is way better than Zyprexa or Risperdol etc.

  • @TheLilithInMe That's true I stopped taking zyprexa two weeks after starting due to weight gain and diabetes it can cause, and Risperdal was causing me movement problems less than a year taking it.

  • Such great advice salty!! That book was recommended to me when I attended a smoking cessation class, but I think I threw it away because I started smoking again and got pissed off! Perhaps I need to buy another copy! Thanks for making this video!

  • I love to help. I wish I could just mail this book out to those who want it! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. : )

  • @saltyeggs71 I have a friend that is hypomanic bipolar. We can be sitting there just talking and then out of the clear blue he gets VERY loud and screams and usually cusses and just goes off shouting at me..the doc has but him on Seroquel 10mg which seemed to make him a bit calmer but still with some outbursts. They then put him on 20mg and he did not care about anything but still had outbursts but with alot of arrogance.the doc's won't give him lithium. He seems to blame me when he gets mad?

  • I'm a good dancer

  • Yes you are! I love you.

  • Thanks Salty!! I wrote down the name of the book and the authors' name. I also took notes on what you said the book is about because I'm going to go to the library to see if they have it. If they don't, I'm going to go buy it. AWSOME video! Thank you very much. LOL...your son is funny...lol.

  • I really wanted to be able to help you. You don't even have to read the whole book to grasp what he says. Life skills/self care can do wonders for gaining control of ones' mood states. I sometimes think my medications are the bricks and self help is the cement!

  • Very good way to look at it. When I see others being positive about something like this, it makes me want to jump on it. Oh I'm definately getting the book..

  • It is a very good book. It changed my life the same way my meds did. I'm still working on myself but I don't feel hopeless.

  • yes, cordless phones are being dangerous when they are flying through the air; Pansonic makes some strong phones; think all us BP folks will always have to deal with anger but changing our lifestyle (diet, stress, sleep and ORGANIZATION!!)

can be a big help.. thanks for your video.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth!

  • Thanks Foxy! The book changed my skills toward mood control. It has helped me beyond measure.

  • lol...your son's going crazy in the back...excellent video...i have the problem with anger..thing that usualy no problem one day is a peoblem the next day...i can soo relate to this video ! have to get that book
