chow yun fa has created Xu Wenqiang this character in a classic way which is very difficult for the latecomers to surpass. His subtle interpretation over the emotion in ChengCheng's house just before she left for France impressed me most. You can see all the sadness and attachment in his eye with tears. Nevertheless HXM has done a great job in this very challenging role. I do think the actor's lines are very weak, of course a long lines requires less emotional expression in term of acting.
