  • lesnar never should have got rid Of Paulson the mans a breeding MMA encylpedia!!

  • A good concept is to use kicks like these to fill the gap when separation opens up between opponents.

  • Pugilist, aka. ass kicker.

    XD

  • That kick took me by surprise. I didn't even see it coming.

  • Erik Paulson is the truth!

  • Somehow I get the feeling that Paulson was really annoyed.

  • And the sixth way I like to do is I like to feign with my left and then pull out my knife and stab them in the temple. Yep, right in the temple, and when they bend over both in agony and to catch the falling blood thats when I do my turning side right to the testes. I call that one the Paulson ball hook, yes sir.

  • When I parry a jab I usually go towards my opponent. Making the turn back kick completely useless.

  • @Anandfulness obviously there are many variations in combat and ofcourse you could parry the jab and drive forward.. however he was using the most common reactions.

  • Bret Michael does not like it

  • haha he tricks brandon into the first and second kicks

  • Why not back kick with the left leg when hes gonna throw the cross after throwing your right kick? Why would you lose so much power with a side kick

  • @dss103 Side kicks can hit quite hard, actually, and you can even slide-step into them. That's a pretty decent set-up that I've been trying to pull off at TKD sparring lately. It's hard for me being a muay thai guy, standing square and catching kicks to the body and being evaded, so you gotta work out quick ways of advancing on someone with light feet and catching them when they come in to pepper you.

  • @dss103 As the set-up involves him moving in after the right kick, I would think it's only successful if they think the motion has stopped and are attacking. It's like you are countering the cross with the side kick, as opposed to them evading the round kick, you keep spinning and they keep moving, evading your left turning back kick. Let's say, after the right round kick, you switch back to orthodox (eg, move your right foot back). Switching back could be what they expect you to do.

  • What does he mean by "Liver loves lemon'?

  • @GetDamage

he loves to eat liver with lemon on it lol

  • great vid very good tips

  • Is that Yamasaki I hear laughing his ass of in the background? :P

  • 'brandon's got good abs so it doesnt matter'

hey brandon thnx for donating your livr to the cause --- ouch catching ep's boot cannot be fun

im justa a utoob self defense student

who watches tries to learn a bit

    but

    paulson, yamasaki, and kiser ...

their stuff just seems better than most others'

    thnx 4 the 'tube

  • I believe using turning kicks as a counter will be more effective... Using it to attack looks awkward most of the time

  • Yep, those are the basic set ups for back kick(and the one side kick). Demonstrated well. Good to see this in MMA.

  • because erik is a black belt in takwondo

  • Erik didnt like that cunt! HAHA sucked in. Hey Player445363 its muay thai, not maui thai. Muay Thai is from Thailand and maui is in hawaii !! Good try though mate. HA HA

  • Damn, lol Thanks for correcting me.

  • hahah spot on!! :)

  • WOW, this is the best demonstration of how to Incorporate powerful and practical TKD kicks into mma. If there's any kick I would use from TKD, it would be the side kicks, and spinning back kicks/heel kicks. TKD's round house kicks are good for diversions or just testing your opponent, but the Maui Tai round house kick is where the power is. I think TKD can be a good core fighting style, as long as you incorporate other styles like Maui Tai and some ground game.

  • Gotta admit that was pretty badass =)

  • agree =)

  • Hehehe,this is a great video ! :D

  • lol i love how supportive your friends are Brandon 0:56

  • lol erik's shirt

  • ПРОСТО И ХОРОШО-ДЛЯ СПАРРИНГА! НО НЕ ДЛЯ МОСКОВСКИХ УЛИЦ...

  • very good tips!

  • lets forget about getting meals before training this.

  • lol yeah unless u fancy seeing the dinner twice

  • How long before training kickboxing/MMA do you eat? My training is at 6 pm, which normally is when I'm just finished with dinner (on my day off). So I need to eat something lighter, but it usually is just one hour before training, and getting kicked in the gut doesn't feel so good because of that. Just a banana is not enough at this hour either.

    Ideas?

  • Liver loves Lemon!!!!

  • first time he kicked him he was like uhhhahhuhhh proly thinking wtf was that

  • You guys are great.
