i went to japan along with my brother, he was on a business trip but i tagged along to go site seeing and in my hotel there was a tall (about 6'5) japanese man who spoke good english he was smoking a joint so i introduced myself and the next day im at his dealers house and all i can say is japans weed blows U.S weed out of the water. I bought 3 ounces of some i think he called it kashigara or something and it had little orange hairs on it that shit was sooo dank and plus they have cool pipes

The problem of Japan is lack of freedom of speech by surroundings or authorities in real life(Not on the internet )even though it is a democratic country. If I had spoke Marijuana might be not so harmful in the public, some people would avoid contact with me and would gossip this guy was insane especially in conservative rural areas.

It has caused a lot of problems even it is related to the issue of school bullying.

It's sad to realise that Japan's laws are so widely considered to be harsh, but their maximum sentences are still much, much lower than the maximums in the US.

It may take time to undo the damage of negative campaigns against marijuana use. Even my pharmocology professor stated that there has never been an overdose of THC, but alcohol poisoning is very high. My dad grew up in the 70's and smoked pot, but still thinks that too much could kill you thanks to trippy anti-pot videos he watched in school. It should be legalized with the same restrictions that alcohol has (don't drive while high/drunk, no underage use, no showing up to work high/drunk).

Not exactly. Cannabis is very illegal in Japan. Possession of a single gram I believe is a minimum of 1 year in jail. However I saw a Japanese article where they said they were having a "marijuana epidemic". I'm sure a lot of people use it but it's very much against the social norm. If you were found out to be using marijuana you'd lose your job, be expelled from school and anything or anyone you were related to would have a black mark on their record.

It is beyond me why this miracle plant has remained to be tainted with this false idea of it being a 'bad' drug. I dont know why it's legal in ANY country in the first place! Cannabis is seen as vital to Shinto and it's outrageous that it's illegal not only to Americans but to us as Japanese too!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard marijuana was popular in Japan and it was grown everywhere in the wild, until the US imposed anti marijuana laws. I'm not really sure of this, so I need some clarification.

I think CA is the only state with dispensaries. So perhaps you could get some slip that would prevent prosecution in OR or WA, but you would have to buy in on the black market.

Cannabis is growing naturally in japan, so there is no point to make it illegal there.. It has been in japans history for thousand years! It grew in the mountains at the same spot as rice.

@Turboxantia well, law enforcement watching the plants around the clock. There's no way they'd let the general public near it. Park rangers watch closely. the penalties for disturbing the thousands of years old plants are very harsh.
