@setsuna200 I heard they had to re-do some sound effects for this version that alterted from the original version, due to the new soundtrack. Another tell-tell sign is that this is hosted by Manga Entertainment, Manga in the UK only distributed the Re-Mastered version of Robotech on DVD, they used to at least. Now A&T Entertainment has released a new complete boxset in the UK, based on a new US boxset.

Alright, so when a Zentradi and a Battloid are next to each other they are about the same size. Why is it then that when Max and Mirya are fighting their fighters are about the same size too? Shouldn't the Zentradi machines be super huge compared to a Veritech? Just sayin'.

I kinda sympathize with Kyle. The crew of the SDF1 fight because they have to--the Zentraedi want the ship. But at the same time the brass up in Alaska refuse to acknowledge being at war with an alien force and refuse to even attempt to negotiate. Of course the Zentraedi would never negotiate, but that's not the point. The high command may not know that a truce is impossible, but they don't even try. Meanwhile Kyle misdirects his resentment of this on the crew. It's annoying, but understandable.

Eps like this are why I love this series. Macross/Robotech never bullshit you; it showed people with flaws, people dying, serious consequences, and real struggles, both outside and inside. The omnidirectional barrier, a wonder of technology, seemed so promising until it overloaded and wiped out probably 20 thousand people on the ground, as well as dozens of fighters in the sky. Another character dies, and plans are smashed. Such is what makes this series great.

The answer lies in the books, The women piolet invid fighters. The walkers are the standard issue for general use. Azonia was in charge of the war with the invid until her fleet was called in to deal with the SDF1.

You know why this show is great? Most other animes would never kill off a main character even today, and if they did it would be some three episode long epic battle of epicness. Robotech is the only anime I have watched where someone dies from an equipment malfunction. No long drawn out battle, no elongated death scene, just a "oh crap I'm gonna die" and their they go.

Yes this is supposedly a lesser version than the original Macross series. But you never had shows like this in the U.S. when these episodes aired in 1985. Deaths of likable characters (two in a row too) was unheard of.

I don't see what makes it lesser. Alot of deaths are raw and unedited, and the acting is pretty top notch for an anime dub. On top of all that it deals with pretty mature themes, namely the series long romance with Rick, Minmei and Lisa.
