I wanna know why Rare still puts games on Nintendo's handhelds, such as Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (GBA), Banjo Pilot (GBA), and Diddy Kong Racing DS (Do I even have to say which system that was for?). I guess it could be because of Microsoft's lack of a handheld system, but still, if I could choose to have either crappy handheld games or awesome console games AND the crappy handheld games, I'd probably go with the latter.

2. rare put on viva pinata shortly after this game was in production, so i assume donkey kong racing evolved into sabreman and as it was changed elements of sabreman were introduced into viva pinata....just a guess

You would think with another group redoing the Donkey Kong Country series for Wii that someone would attempt to make a Donkey Kong Racing game or even rehash Diddy Kong Racing. Something other than Mario Kart would be a fun change of pace!

I remember I had a VHS promo video for the Gamecube just before it was released from a magazine. The games I remember on there were never to be released on the system; Kameo, Raven Blade & Donkey Kong Racing. I was gutted that these never came out on GC. Although it's also worth mentioning that rumour saying a lot of the racing design went into Donkey Kong Barrel Blast... and we all know how that turned out.

I just noticed this... but a lot of gaming mysteries seem to revolve around Rare... and for good reason. A lot of their games were never released and just seem to disappear into obscurity. I miss when Rare released their games fairly frequently and each game turned out to be a masterpiece. When Rare was bought by Microsoft... well... Microsoft just seems to hinder everything Rare tries to make... and if anything Rare makes looks like it has promise, it just gets fucking cancelled. *sigh*

There actually was a "Donkey Kong Racing" game released for the Wii back around when it first came out called "Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast." I never got the chance to play it, but from what I saw, it sucked. Retro did a fantastic job bringing DKC back in DKC Returns, but they're still no Rare pre-2002. Sigh...
