Very very cool. I like what you did there fella!! I've only just yesterday heard of these guys, and just started really digging what they do. I can't help but hear heaps of Led Zep in this piece, but WOW! And you do it sooooooooooooooo well!!!
I had no idea this song could sound so good on six strings. Your recording set up is great, I don't think I've heard a cover of this song recorded so clearly. Great job!
Hey Thanks ecfan33. It's great to hear a positive compliment like yours (rather than "Uh...you didn't play it note for note exactly the same as the Tea Party").
GREAT JOB!!! I noticed that your 314ce does not have the Taylor Expression System, is that an older model? I am thinking about buying that guitar and was wondering why some came with different pickups than others
Be this perfect or not, and as a person simply listening to this for what it is,not knowing any history on the piece or anything about it....its simply bloody brilliant, why knock someone for such talents...Top job mate.
Sorry remnany4J...I haven't checked comments here in a while. I did use a Studio Project C1 with VTB-1 preamp. I recorded it in stereo with the Fishman preamp as the other channel.
Excellent rendition! Even original artists change the presentation/performance of their own work. Keep playin' in your own style and let the nay sayers continue to be green with envy.
You know, I've had a lot of people criticize this video because it is not technically perfect. The version I do is something I learned on my own, 15 years ago from the indie Tea Party album (long before tabs were available on the internet). I've just always played it the same way. The last thing I ever want to do with any cover song I ever play is to try to sound exactly like the original. What's the point?
@bvanderpryt yeah man i agree, and that was well said. playing a lot of this stuff myself i feel that you never make a song as good as the original if you go for 100% copy. You definatly bring you own style and feel to this song which is awesome. great job man

This cover is not note for note as Tea Party originally performed it - and all the better for it, nice to see someone else's take on a song.
If anybody wants to see and hear exactly how it is performed by Tea Party I suggest they watch Tea Party - they do it really well.
Great job and excellent recording quality as well.

My 314 is about 8 years old....long before the Expression system existed. It has a Fishman preamp.
Buy the guitar. You won't be disappointed. I have many guitars, and the only one I can say with 100% confidence that I will never sell is my Taylor.

cheated on a few parts, but not bad.
totally neglecting the open low C at the part where it slows down, but again, pretty good.

hey, can u plz tell me if this is standard tuning or wutever tuning it is?
dudejummo 4 years ago
The tuning I use (from low to high) is CGCGCE. I believe The Tea Party use CGCGCD, but I prefer to have all the strings open be a C chord.
Cheers,
Brian

The Bagder is in DADGAD. Winter Solstice is CGCGCE.
