Look fo a carters countr in your area I picked up a box of 20 rem. .41 silvertip hollows for around 20 bucks or look around on the internet...wat can't u find on there
@Ricklawrence Thanks man. Sounds like a cool job. I am a good fan of guns and I have also fired 9mm luger and .308. My mom says i am a good "pistol shot" haha. thanks
Hey guys I have a question. I am 12 years old and I have shot a .41 magnum with no problem. I am preparing to fire the 44 mag. I am a little worried though. How is the recoil compared to the 44 mag? Thanks.
@BugattiVeyronBoy I've never fired a .44 mag, I could not speculate. Please check with check with some one who knows more than me. They won't be hard to find. Though I was an M60 Machine Gunner in the Marines. That think would kick - and jam. Wow 12 years old and firing weapons like this. What do you want to be when you join the Corps?
Awesome muzzle control. I have a .44 mag anniversary Blackhawk and it kicks hard. I use my left thumb to cock it faster. This way also keeps my sights on target and my grip constant.
Can you fire anything else through a .41 mag the way you can with a .38spec and a .357mag, like .41 long colt or .41 short? I just bought a S&W 657 in .41 magnum.
I don't know. The .41 rounds are kind of hard to get so I'm thinking I might have heard of something else. I just checked out the S&W 657. I like that a real lot. Last week at a range I fired a few rounds through a Springfield XD M 9mm. Real smooth hardly any kick. The 657 looks like a nice cannon to fire. That's the kind of artillery you want between you and some wack job with a gun and a grudge.
@Ricklawrence you know smothing, I saw a 41 magnum yesterday at my local gunstore and they told me the same thing, that the ammo is hard to get, this seem like a nice weapon to have which I want, but don't know if it's worth buying or not, what are your thoughts.
@Mr291229 I'd buy another .41. Yes the ammo is tough to find, but that's for target practice. You should see what I carry in that thing. You do not need a lot of ammo. I carry an extra 12 rounds with me. My wife has a 9mm S&W with a 4 1/2" barrel I do not trust it if I had to shoot fast over 15 - 20 feet. The 41, I know I'm going to hit him with a 61/2" barrel. You won't be sorry if you get it. Really the hardest thing about the gun is concealing it.
Just bought a ruger 41 mag with 4 3/4 barrel......Says made in 200th year of american liberty....absoultely mint in the box........What is it worth ???.......
Thank you for your kind words. It sounds like you got yourself a real nice weapon. If you bought the 41 to collect or resale I have no idea what a value it would have. I got a double barrel 12ga Parker bought by my great great grandfather in the 1870's. I still fire it and keep it loaded and handy. Me, personally, I'd pay 400 to a 900 for it.
If I was in a shopping center and some nut started to open up on customers, I think the value of a solid, reliable smoke wagon would go way up. A .41 mag is not going to take out a bear, no way. Any punch a 9mm has will drops off real fast. Me I don't trust a pistol over 20 - 30 feet. .41 mag sounds like a cannon going off. Are you planning on firing you .41 mag? That would be a tough call with it being mint. You could always just keep it in case. And pray you never need it.
With all due respect Mr. Lawrence, I believe (depending on the size of course) that a bear could be stopped by a .41 with the right load. It wouldn't be my first choice however! I just got a Taurus M415 and while it may not take down a bear, it sure will take down the poor SOB who may want to kill me. Semper Fi
@Ricklawrence Many of the "Heavy Magnum Loads" in .357, .44 .41 and even the .22 magnum in a revolver will Reach out very far and take game with "well placed shots" and precluded followups. The .41 take out a bear LOL surely ANY Bear, ANY DAY, There are only hundreds of an inch difference between the 41 and 44. Also The .41 , the .357 and the 44 magnum ALL are very effective for Large predators and Hunting with Correct AMMO, MARKSMANSHIP and SKILL
I took the 41 out and shot it about 2 weeks ago. What a pistol! It can really reach out there. I was shooting clay pigeons from 15 to 20 yards. We set them up on some tree stumps and fallen logs. Lot's of fun! No videos yet but I am hoping to post one this spring.
Hey Rick! I just got my reloading dies and some never fired brass from a private party. It's wet and cold where I live in Oregon and we don't have an indoor range in our area. So, I am going to do some reloading so I can shoot my 41 as soon as the weather warms up. I also put some rubber Hogue grips on my pistol. It looks slick! Have a Happy New Year!
My grandfather use to say to me that if the day ever came in America where only the police the military and the criminal have firearms. The Law abiding America citizen will be in deep shit! America as we know it will no longer exsist
You got it brother, My granddad served with Patton. I joined the Corps so I would now how to defend my Country from my front porch if I had to. Funny thing, I'm not a wealthy man, I'm have a tough time these day like a lot of folks. But my baby loves me because she know I can take care of a bad situation, should it ever enter our lives. That's what this country needs now, people who are willing to fight and stand up for what they believe in.
Rick.........If more people had your outlook this country would be a better place......Strong Dads make strong familys.........make a strong America......God Bless.............
I just obtained a Ruger Blackhawk 41 Mag. I love it! It's awesome! I found some expensive yet affordable 20 round boxes of defensive ammo at Sportsmans Warehouse. I have 3 boxes of 50 and they are expensive! Almost 50 dollars a box! I think reloading for the beast is the way to go. Thanks for the video!
It is a great weapon, big enough to stop any threat and small enough to handle with one hand. It takes some practice to load and eject spent shells. I have a CCW permit and it took me a little while to get used to walking around with it. I like the two safeties - Your thumb on the hammer and your index on the trigger. Good luck to you my friend
What is the barrel length on yours? I have a 6and 1/2. I have a CCW myself and have considered it for concealed carry but it is a large weapon for my small frame. What type of holster do you have?
Mines a 6 1/2" barrel also. I use a simple and inexpensive Uncle Mike's Sidekick. You can slide it on and off any belt. I'm not very tall but I can still carry it on my right hip and wear a heavy coat or untucked button down shirt. People may see it, but I figure now a days when people see a cop they feel safe because somebody around them has the means to protect them if something happens. So nut starts shooting people in a mall at least you can shoot back.
Look at that girl at the Church in Colorado. Or the woman who all died in that store at that mall. I guess my point is this. You could carry a .22 or .25cal pistol and conceal it any wear buy you might have trouble getting it out and what will you really do with it once drawn. The old smoke wagons you and I have might not carry a lot of rounds but they've got a longer range and one hell of a punch. Oh, Size 8 on the SIDEKICK.
