Yesterday morning,i bought a Grey Cockatiel, she is sorta of hand tamed, and im sure she would do great if i worked with her,i am trying to,but im trying to gain her trust first,i reward her when she lets me pet her chest (and doesnt bite me),but she doesnt trust me! any tips?

I have a breeding pair of african blue masked lovebirds and they are really scared and nervous around me. When i come near their cage they fly around in their cage or drop down to the bottom of the cage trying to avoid me when i let them out of their cage i have to catch them with a net because they don't come to me or they don't go into their cage by themselves. I need help on how to tame my birds can u help? P.S i got them about 2 months ago.
Hey, I have a Parakeet and he can go on My Hand, but how does he stay ON my hand? I've tried to do this a couple of weeks already, but it's not working. I do treat him whenever he gets on my finger, but i can't seem to take him out of his cage, he always retreats to his perch, etc Help?
@iiDemonicDoll Parakeets can be tricky since they are very flighty little birds. Sometimes it comes down to the demeanor of the bird but otherwise it will just take repetition and continued positive reinforcement, such as the treats you mentioned. There is no magic answer with birds. Good luck!
Hello i have a cockatiel which is around 6 months old. My problem is that it refuses to eat vegetables. It only eats pellets and seeds. please help i really care for her health..
@sangam061289 You may want to try different versions of veggies. Maybe start with dried or dehydrated. Start him off slow and work him up to fresh. The key is to do it slow and be patient as bird need to feel comfortable before they will make the change.
An adult bird will be harder to bond with but with time and patients it can be achieved. Both male and female temperament will depend on how it is raised, boys will be a bit more nippy in the adolescent years, during the breeding season.
@kingofkingsbc It's just a matter of them getting used to you. I took him out every day and gave him treats so he'd associate me with positive things.
I got a question about the lovebirds? I only have one and I want to buy him or her a buddy does it matter if it's a guy or a girl or for that mater how do I know if it's a guy or a girl? By color???? Thx
You won’t be able to physically tell if you have a male or female lovebird or if you are purchasing a male/female, you would need to have them DNA sexed. There are no physical characteristics that show you the difference between a male and a female. Lovebirds can be territorial, especially of their habitat and especially females. Introducing a new friend for your lovebird can be a little tricky and there are no guarantee’s they’ll bond and enjoy being cage mates.
@joerock00 To make this introduction, I would suggest moving them into a neutral cage that neither lovebird is protective of. A female may bond with another female and a male may bond with another male, but there are no guarantee’s either way. Wish you the very best!
i think u should take some time to talk to ur bird, relationship dont happen over night.i recently got a girl cockatiel whos not hand tame and i'm trying to get her to step up and its working..now thats the first stage for bonding with ur bird........it take time....
@cindy600 How'd you do that? I have a cockatiel that won't let me TOUCH him. I've tried luring him with food, he'll take a bite, I barely move my hand and he runs away! I've had him for about 4 years now, but he still has the same attitude, he'll hiss at me and try to bite me if I try to touch him (even through the cage).
Hi,my bird is always running from me,I just got him today, how long does it take untill he will become use to me? He runs away unless i have millet, wich is frustrating me,help!!

Took me about two weeks to a month to finally bond with my 1 year old bird. Now every morning he waits for me to open up the cage so we can play.
