Exactly Tmot, notice the guys who are arguing because they are the ones going after these young naive 'girls' and they want the rest of us to codone their way of thinking. You must not have any female relatives you are close to who are in their teens because any man with any gumption about himself would not make a statement like this, the only thing that matters is the law. Men who care about their daughters would not let the 'law' dictate to them how to raise their kids nor would they want their very young daughters, aunts, cousins and nieces to be preyed on by way older men regardless of what the law says, parents still need to use judgement and be wise.

What you are stating is just your opinions and you have the right to think the way you want to think. It still doesn't make it true. The fact of the matter is that a person is legal at the age of 18 years old. It doesn't matter what anybody has to say about it. They are safe based on Biblical and American law. That settles it!!!.
The Law says it is ok to abort a fetus, but i doubt Jesus would approve since He is the Author of Life according to the Bible which you just brought into this.
As an aunt and my sister will agree as the mother of tween and teen daughters, the 'law dosn't dictate what she does in her house. She does that. The law has nothing to do with someone's emotional and cognitive development and maturity. That 18 was made for reasons that had nothing to do with that so we can't use the 'law' as a yardstick to measure what our kids should and should not be doing. The law says a lot of things, but we still have to use common sense.
Maybe that 18 was made back when the average life expectancy was 55. People are living longer now, so perhaps it should be pushed back to 25 now that psychologist, socialogist, and pyschiatrist all agree that the mental development starts to set at age 25.
The law starts with the Male leadership of that house.
You see, back in the day, when a young man was interested in a young woman he would go to the father or the male covering. If the father said no, that young man would have to respect that. That is how its suppose to go. The problem with that is men are not properly covering their daughters and daughters are not respecting their male covering. The father determines the maturity of his daughter not you or anybody else.

I hate when older men flirt with me and ask me out on dates. I work at a community center where we provide technology classes, GED, and K-12 education support. The men are ridiculous. LOL, have you guys heard of the minimum age formula? Somebody came up with a formula for the minimum age a guy can date (how young can they go) (It can apply to women as well).
It is supposed to go something like this:
[Guy/Girl age] / 2 + 7 = [Girl's/Guy's Age] So a 36 year old guy shouldn't be dating a woman younger than 25. A 55 year old shuldn't date anyone younger than 34.5 I say go by emotional maturity in addition to not dating someone who is barely out of their teens years.

10% is a results of choices others make. (i.e. Drunken Pilot kills 234 passengers in plane crash.)
The remaining 10%, well *&%# Just happens sometimes. (i.e. Walking down the street and you get struck down by lightning and it was not even raining). It happens.

I see there is a lot of back and forth about a older man with a much much younger women. I have to agree with TMOT on this one. The bottom line is that this girl is looking for a man to meet her needs rather than God and the abilities that God has blessed her with. A man is not a plan. I agree, somewhat....Steve Mcnair is the Victim here no matter what. Yes he commited adultry and he let his kids down for the most part. I don't think he tried to hide his relationship with this woman to say the least I think she had other issues. So it's a possibility that his relationship with his wife was ending. Speaking from my experience (and I have a lot), people who espouse that view generally are the ones who like young women (children).
in days of old, true you got married younger, but you also died younger. The general populas were not as educated (although we have digressed) as we are today. Therefore, our kids are with us longer and we develop careers unlike before.

Secondly, in America, a young man or woman is considered legal for any one to date or marry. True, some old men date younger women with the wrong intentions. That being said, they do have older men who date younger women with the right intentions.
Last but not least, I've dated women older than me and younger than me. It's all about maturity.

Never the less, your age as listed 32 is indicative of the statement, when a person is of age, they are grown. Legal Age and Maturity are in most cases, (not all), mutually exclusive. Things change young man and I was was clear the first time.
When I was 15, a woman in her 30 tried to pick me up on the Greyhound bus. Of course I lied to her about my age. When my Aunt figured what was going on she cursed her from her to eternity. I know I was not grown, but the issue was she was a predator taking advantage of my immaturity to deal.
At 21, I was dating a 46 yr old, my Mother went ballistic.

I agree with you here reighsupreme and a person shouldn't be dismissed simply because of their age. One should take into account the maturity level. There are older women/younger men relationships that are genuine and mutually beneficial. This is happening more and more now as women are divorcing and out in the single world and older women take care of themselves and don't look like their parents did at that age. Why should an older woman not look at a younger man just because he is younger?

When people come together for all the wrong reasons it is doomed anyway. A person's cognitive development isn't even fully developed untiil after age 25. There is nothing wrong with a 35 year old woman dating a 28 year old man, or a 45 year old woman dating a 34 or 35 year old man. As an aunt and my sister will agree as the mother of tween and teen daughters, the 'law dosn't dictate what she does in her house. She does that. The law has nothing to do with someone's emotional and cognitive development and maturity. That 18 was made for reasons that had nothing to do with that so we can't use the 'law' as a yardstick to measure what our kids should and should not be doing. The law says a lot of things, but we still have to use common sense.

Maybe that 18 was made back when the average life expectancy was 55. People are living longer now, so perhaps it should be pushed back to 25 now that psychologist, socialogist, and pyschiatrist all agree that the mental development starts to set at age 25.

You see, back in the day, when a young man was interested in a young woman he would go to the father or the male covering. If the father said no, that young man would have to respect that.
