  • 07:25 I think, in that order, those areas are beta version's of:

    Dodongo's Cavern, Lost Woods/Kokiri Forest,

Ganon's Castle (falling?), Death Mountain/Entrance to Goron City

  • When's part 2 coming out? Looking forward too it.

  • *suscribes* I'll wait for part 2, this was pretty good.

  • Can't wait for next part. Really informative. :)

  • Part 2 PLox?

  • 10:10 Banjo-Kazooie music lol

  • 1st person zelda is as bad as the stylus only DS games...

  • i want to see the part 2 and 3, please!!

  • @HappehLemons when is part 2 coming?

  • In the story of WITH THESE EYES, a young woman has to solve the puzzle of quantum energy to save the world from a power hungry industrialist.

  • this is a very awesome vid man!!! say, when is part 2 coming out?

  • @ 9:58 banjo kazooie FTW !!!

  • Love this video. You clearly have more knowledge than most about zelda 64. cant wait for the next part

  • 14:30 it is the minigame with the treasures and a 50:50 chance to open the right one on market place as a child!

  • Nice vid, but you could have cut out some of the replayed stuff. But overall really nice and lookin' forward to part 2 :)

  • I like the music from the first French commercial

  • 12:31

That's a beta SPIRIT Temple! Look at the walls!

Well.. It's just a hunch. It also looks fiery. What do you think? Maybe in the volcano? Or fire temple before they made it Arabic?

  • Link swings his sword while running in TP. Link does a downward thrust in TP. There is a sky temple in TP. Twilight princess seems to have included the things they took out of Ocarina of Time.

  • Very good video, I particularly like your introduction, it's rather classy :)

  • When is part 2 coming?

  • Why do people call games "app's"? It's not an app when its a finished game retard's!!!

  • @davidzel It's perfectly fine to call games apps. Applications or programs are the same thing. All games were programs to run on the 64's hardware. You are getting mad at nothing.

  • The "area that didn't make it to the final game" where link fights the slimes pretty much seems like Jabu Jabu's Belly to me, the slime would fir in too. Also, the other area with the jumping enemy (sorry, forgot the name) might be the mountain pass. Can't really be sure since these are much less detailed than any area in the final version - Or is there any evidence to support saying these are removed areas?

  • Overall well done, but I think you skipped one of the most important aspects in the game's development: Z-targeting. Originally, OoT was supposed to play almost like a hack-'n-slash game. Later, the Fairy Navigation System (afterwards dubbed NAVI) was created to provide provide player information and point at enemies. After camera control got taken out in favor of the 4-item scheme, Z-targeting was created and further developed over the course of the game.

  • @OrdonWolf he's probably gonna go over that in part 2 lol :p

  • Can't wait to see part 2 :)

  • how long do we need to wait for part 2????

  • great video, waiting for part II!

  • Well done! Very informative and you did great research, presenting it wonderfully without confusing anyone.I personally like the areas we got, lots of the beta areas are quite empty, big and very flat. I still would love it to explore them, though.

However, about the shadows, isn't there a simple gameshark code that turns the shadow of Link into a very detailed version? I definitely know that I used that code and it worked, but I can't find it anymore.

  • Wow, Miyamoto wanted the game to be shit.

  • Pretty interesting how much the game changed through developing, in these 15 minutes I haven't seen anything yet that is completely the same as we know now. Hopefully part 2 is done soon :D

  • Its kinda a shame that we may never know how zelda 64 was suposed to be on its complete version... thanks to the failure of the DD64 .....

  • Love this cant wait for more! The part with link getting the triforce was indeed made by nintendo. infact that was an experiment done by nintendo in which they recreated the first dungeon from the original LOZ. I dont recall the source but i remember reading an interview(i think it was with miyamoto)

  • Great video, very informative. I can't wait for the next.

  • Very informative video and more importantly you know what you're talking about, I really hate it when people upload stuff like this and seem unsure of the facts they are trying to convey.

    Great video!

  • They did use many of their old OOT ideas that never made it on the final version on Majoras Mask.

  • The animation looks better in the beta.

  • I enjoined watching this video a lot! Good Job!!!

  • What about the whole backstory as to how Navi came about? There's a lot there unsaid...

  • @DRBUCKL3Y This is only part 1.

  • @DRBUCKL3Y If I remember correctly, around the A+B HUD time, they began conception for a navigation companion. They tried multiple things, though all were mostly simple shapes, one being a triangle. Finally, they settled for a circular figure with wings, which became a fairy later on. When thinking for a name, they took Navigator and shortened it into: Navi.

  • It's amazing how a game can be changed, rearranged so many times and moved to a different system could still be so good and well made

  • Epic!! vid!!!

  • i recognize the music at 0:48, what is it from?

  • @Jaymesa I think the observatory from Majora's Mask.

  • @Jaymesa Yeah it's from the observatory in Majora's Mask as JuggernautSoda said.

  • Very good job!!!

  • Will you cover the Majoras mask? :D

  • Great job, you really know your stuff and I look forward to watching some more!

  • when will part 2 come out and very good video

  • Amazing job, thank you! <3

  • ZELDA IS AWESOME EVEN IN BETA

  • wow this is amazing now i want more i even didn't hear of some thing waiting for part 2

  • This was pretty amazing man! i enjoyed watching this a lot! thanks so much for putting this all together for us too watch! Please make a Part 2! I can't wait too watch it!

  • don't forget to mention ura zelda when you get to that point

  • Navi also turned red when hovering over an enemy instead of yellow, which you can see in many of the scenes.

  • I remember back then seeing those Zelda 64 screenshots in magazines and be all 9-year-old amazed and wondering how cool a game could get.

    then they released OoT.

    and I got it!

  • well done, man! thank you for taking such great footage and putting them together in a compelling doc!

    Can't wait until part 2!!

  • I actually want to play the beta version for oot pretty awesome

  • Is it wrong that I'm cringing at the first Zelda 64 screens?

  • I never heard of Nintendo wanting to make Super FX Zelda game, where are your source son that?

  • @EnigmaXtreme iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/zelda-ocarina-of-time/1/1

"Koizumi: Yeah. You might say that, but before Super Mario 64, I had actually been making Zelda II: The Adventure of Link in polygons with Miyamoto-san."

  • on of the best N64 videos ive seen. most people just skip over the N64 for everything :(

  • Plenty of things I hadn't seen before more than I thought I would see. Awesome thank you!

  • this is quite possible one of the best video game videos that isn't made by a big name. I'm not joking i can't wait until part 2... this is amazing.

  • 9:54 Banjo-Kazooie anyone?

  • @weirdproq1 haha EPIC WIN xD

  • Good stuff

  • Great video, looking forward to part 2.

  • It's kind of nice to see a lot of this information compiled like this. I do have one pointer and one nit-pick. I would suggest that you review your script for the next clip, some of your dialog comes off as very repetitious and this can be kind of a turn-off for viewers. At the eight minute mark, you have the word "shield" on the screen three times but two are misspelled. Otherwise, keep up the good work and I look forward to more of these.

  • Pretty interesting!

  • awesome video! Keep up the amazing work!

  • I have appreciated your video! but I have an response!

On the 07:27 The first picture looks like Dodongo's Cavern.

  • @gabrielwojcikiewicz Thanks! but check 7:45 :)

  • @HappehLemons Yea, I have watch this right about I commented XD.

Ah, can I ask you something? What is the program to open the Zelda 64 files?

  • Very well made video dude, Massive props :)

  • Nice work!

  • dang, now I want to play Ocarina of Time!

  • dude!

  • This is a great collection of both footage and analysis! Thanks for putting this up for us. I love this stuff, and you've done a very thorough job.

  • Great video man..I look forward to part 2!

  • Excellent video man, very informative and well put together! Great to see a new video from you and hope to see more in the future again :).

The video does seem to suffer from some de-interlacing issues.

  • Great video, favorited.

  • very good vid :D

  • I really loved this, but why it is under the comedy category?

  • Spectacular video.

  • This is great, absolutely awesome! Good work!

  • This is pretty damn impressive.
