I first thought "Water, way to go Nintendo; Fuck another series up, why don't you?" but I couldn't have been more wrong. Although strange at first, I got used to this unique and fascinating idea. Who would have thought you could do so much with a backpack that shoots water? Nintendo has released a few mentally retarded innovations in the past few years that totally killed it's respective game series, but this idea was golden.
I'd rather have the piantas than the cold, empty, gray castle of Super Mario 64. That hub world was boring and depressing. I think it's great that they added some life to the setting of SMS with the piantas and nokis.
Why must EVERY game be in the Mushroom Kingdom? Do you have some obsession with boring, stale settings for games?

Using the device as opposed to Mario's punching and kicking abilities which were removed from this game made it lacklustre in comparison to Mario 64
I played this game and accumulated 110 stars before I called it quits and traded it in for another title so I gave it a sporting chance. Anybody who says the game was fantastic is such a Mario fanatic that they would never find any flaws in a game where Mario is featured. Mario Galaxy was truly the successor to Mario 64 and will be remembered as such just as Mario 64 was a bold move into the realm of 3D. Galaxy's graphics were upgraded, the control was reworked and Luigi was finally playable.

The voice acting in that game actually wasn't that bad. The plot includes mario princess peach and some toads going on a vacation. I can't really say why the koopalings were not there, but they needed a single villan I guess. bottom line, this game is the super mario bros 2: mario madness of the 3d games. It's pretty good and all but not quite as good as a mario game. at least the voice acting isn't as bad as sonic adventure (1 and 2) or next gen's
...let's just say that one was made by Hudson entertainment.... you know the logo with the bee... yeah... SMG2 was a little disappointing too... BUT MARIO SUNSHINE WAS AWESOME!!!

I agree. Super Mario Sunshine was one of the weakest in the series. After the groundbreaking and immensely enjoyable Mario 64 I was ready for something great and Sunshine just didn't deliver. It rehashed the tropes from the previous game but in an a less fun manner. However, I do feel Galaxy really did innovate and was fantastic. So cheers to Nintendo for picking up the ball.

The voice acting in that game actually wasn't that bad. The plot includes mario princess peach and some toads going on a vacation. I can't really say why the koopalings were not there, but they needed a single villan I guess. bottom line, this game is the super mario bros 2: mario madness of the 3d games. It's pretty good and all but not quite as good as a mario game. at least the voice acting isn't as bad as sonic adventure (1 and 2) or next gen's

The moral of the story is when buying a Wii game or Gamecube game, always make a Nintendo Game your first choice! If for some reason you think it still sucks then go play MW2 like all the no skilled losers...

I really enjoyed this game... It was a refreshing new concept for a mario game.

I agree. Super Mario Sunshine was one of the weakest in the series. After the groundbreaking and immensely enjoyable Mario 64 I was ready for something great and Sunshine just didn't deliver. It rehashed the tropes from the previous game but in an a less fun manner. However, I do feel Galaxy really did innovate and was fantastic. So cheers to Nintendo for picking up the ball.

Your 14 I was playing mario befor you were any thought of. And yes sunshine is by far the worste in the mario series! Bad controls and bad voice acting. And let's not talk about how bad the camra was.

It doesn't have to be in the Mushroom Kingdom! smb2 was in Subcon, Mario and Luigi Superstar saga was in the BeanBean Kingdom. It's boring to be in the same place every time.
