The problem with VSQ doing bittersweet symphony is that it just sounds like an instrumental version... a very good instrumental version.

@yewhooman This is neither classical nor orchestra. It is still pop music, despite the instruments. Classical music is defined by the music theory behind the piece, and is usually much more complex than this. I'm not trying to insult it, both types of music are good, but listen to a classical string quartet and there is much more going on. It is not orchestral music because this is a string quartet and not an orchestra.

Regardless of the genre, it's still a nice arrangement.

Vivaldi's string quartets are not Classical because classical with a capital "C" generally refers to music written between 1750 and 1830. Vivaldi died in 1741, so he wrote in the Baroque period. So yes, Vivaldi's music for string quartets is not Classical.

No reputable articles I could find presented any information that even somewhat resembled your point. Like almost every other genre of music or literary criticism, you cannot place such arbitrary boundaries on classical music. It continues to be produced today, and this is a prime example.
