  • Is it funtional scoliosis caused by the hypermobility or structural?

  • i was just diagnosed with scholiosis

  • MY SCOLIOSlS ON THORACIC SPINE IS 30 DEGREEES TO THE LEFT

  • that looks so painful! i'm not gonna lie to you, i CAN'T possibly immagine how painful it's gotta be. i wish her good luck with this. (i'm having trouble finding words here...)

  • I wish your daughter all the best and send her and your family lots of love <3

  • I was born with scoliosis and was told it would never progress. I was also told it was due to poor posture. Now this was quite a while ago but the results of these statements by various doctors really affected my whole life. By age 50 I had a double curve of 48 degree thoracic curve, 78 lumbar curve with a 20 degree rotation and 10 degree kyphosis. I finally had to have surgery on a solid spine. Add EDS and my surgery was a nightmare. But a very good ortho surgeon made all the difference.

  • I was diagnosed with EDS type 3 but I have "S" shaped scoliosis. My back is continuously hurting me and makes walking and standing straight without my cane, very painful. I use a heating pad at the end of the day in order to help me with the rush of pain I feel when I lay down. Have you discovered any other things that helps decrease the pain?

  • Me and my kids have EDS,at times I can walk,at times I can't because of the pain.My son was diagnosed with scoliosis 4 years ago with an upper thoracic curve and rotation. He wore a brace for a year..it made things worse because the spine started curving at the bottom. He was in so much pain for a long, long time before the ops.He has just gone through two major ops for his scoliosis. The first to remove a rib, then after a week,he had two rods inserted. His spine had been at 90.4 degrees

  • I'm 15, Nearly 16 years old and i got this when i was around 13-14, I've been to the doctors and they took some Xrays but i have to wait for the results.. I just want it to go away.. It Doesn't hurt.. i can feel its there though.. and i feel like a freak when i take my shirt off in public... :/

  • my mother has this condition at about the same severity and has had it since birth. Her vertabrae are so unstable that when they rodded and fused her they placed special cages around her spine, they also had to remove one of her ribs. Ironically she was never diagnosed with EDS until my 6 year old son and I were both diagnosed. Even in the states I had to fight the medical community. They labeled me a munchhauser mom....

end the end who was right that there was something wrong with my son...me

  • I have hypermobility and scoliosis too mines not as bad though Give my love to your daughter she is so brave - Charlie x

  • Im srry about your daughter i have scoliosis i have 3 cures a 45 degree a 6 degree and a 2 degree i have to wear a brace and i have to have surgrey this summer

  • I have now undergone three separate fusions to my spine - I too had the twist, but curves present in all 3 sections. We have had to pay for these out of pocket, but being poor is better than being unable to walk and on strong narcotics. I do wish there was more awareness among orthopedists. I was extremely fortunate to find a surgeon who has experience with scoliosis in EDS patients hence the reason for paying for the surgeries eventhough our insurance would not.

  • I had two metal rods put into my back on account of my scoliosis. Thanks to the Shriners hospital in Spokane (US) it was free.

  • My spine is hypermobile too:(

  • I hope your daughter is doing well Elfins.

  • Now how did I know this would be in the UK? no examination despite seeing doctors over the years? missed obvious spine problems, no appointments unless phoning and phoning - you must chase and chase up things - don't leave it - I know I am an expert now - this is England remember. Hope your daughter is coping ok and gets the help she is entitled to and needs. Please keep on phoning and putting your concerns in writing. Good luck. xxxx

  • i had 1 of my left rib bumped out but then 1 day when i was jumping on the trampoline i fell nd i landed on the rim on the rib that had the bump nd it fixed it

  • i have huge lumb on the back of my neck where it meets the spine i'll have to go visit the chiropractor

  • This video is really touching and my heart aches for all who suffer with scoliosis. I've had back pain my whole entire life. Ever since I was a child...yet nothing was wrong with me. I'm now 42 yrs. of age and have been diagnosed with this disease. All these years and finally I get answers however even though my spine and muscles are inflammed and I live with intense pain, no doc. wants to touch me. I was told to live with it and expect to someday walk bent over. God Bless all who suffer...

  • thanx for the video i have scoiliosis myne is at 58 degrees at the moment and will continue to get worse im waiting on spinal surgery to correct this

  • belive in God and paray to him! you'll see - all will be ok!

  • My girlfriend has scoliosis as well, looks like lotsa people in youtube suffer scoliosis and sharing their pains here.

Hope your daughter get's the best surgery or treatment. May God bless her.

    Thanks for the share miss.

  • im 11 and i have something like that. Ive hurt my back twice allready and it had to be taked to the cyrapractor. Yoga raley helps because its just hurts my back even more. I really wanted to become a cheerleader but i guess its too late....

  • god bless.

  • ouch! i must say i am hypermobile and have alot of trouble with my spine but this is so much more severe.

god i hope she gets an appointment with the scoliosis surgeon soon. my thoughts are with you and your daughter xx

  • feel better. good luck

  • may god bless you

  • I believe I have a similar problem as well. May I ask, did your daughter's slipping rib syndrome occur because of the scoliosis or were they all related to the EDS? God Bless

  • Thanks for the pictures, this is very similar to a problem I have -- noticed it in the shower a few months ago. It worried me, and I even quit smoking (day later / dollar short) as I assumed it was some kind of cancer. The hump on my left, lower ribcage does feel a bit irritated, from time-to-time. But, I wouldn't classify it as "pain" quite yet, merely a slight discomfort.

  • I believe this is what I have. I was operated on 4 times now. The last was because the curve increaed and pulled my L-3 vertabrae into a v on it's side. I have a fusion from L-4 to S-1 and rods from L-4 to T-12. I am in constant pain and I also awoke partially blind. I can't see out of right eye and left eye has the optic nerve damaged as well. Mine is still twisted and more discs are bulging.I have compression fracture at L-1 and changes in screws now. 2 discs out in neck. I have neurosurgeon.

  • chiropractic helps too, i have rotary scoliosis which has a double curve along with twisting of the spine and i see a chiropractor. It has done wonders for me

  • my chiropractor helps my back 2.

  • on Google

there is a site that says. Yoga may help

  • if i am too late with my comment

    i apologize :(

  • dreyfussfury she has EDS and is hypermobile, it is a debilitating illness that is agonising and I totally sympathise with her. It's not allowing to get that bad, she had no choice in the matter, docs don't operate unless they really have to as we don't heal as well as normal people with scoliosis.

nikki I am going to message you as your back looks the same as my daughters so wonder if you can advise hun. jackie x

  • Hello I have Kyphoscoliosis and Lordosis. Basically that means I have three conditions: Scoliosis, Kyphosis and Lordosis. My scoliosis, like your daughters, is double (has two curves) and has an extreme amount of rotation (the twist). My sister also has scoliosis but not bad. Mine was severe and I had surgery and am still recovering. I am not allowed to bend lift or twist my spine or lift anything above 1kg. If you would like to talk you can message me. Thanks, Nikki x x x

  • Thanks for your comments, I have been watching your videos which have been really informative. Will email you on your page :)

    Thanks once again.x

  • i have scoliosis..

why did u allow it to reach to a stage to where it has to be operated?

  • I forgot to add I'm hypermobile too. And there was nothing I could do to prevent it from needing to be operated on.

  • What is hpermobile scoliosis?

    is it inevitable?

  • it was overlooked and denied earlier on. I pray for all who suffer from this.
