Hi there. ... . Tory from Austin Texas. Singer songwriter musician. Check out my originals and subscribe if you like. Please listen to my own original of The Little Tramp..a tribute to Charlie Chaplin. Namaste.
It wasn't movie, it was real masterpiece. Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant as Charlie. I love also Diane Lane, Kevin Kline, very young and cute Milla Jovovich in this movie
Did Downey actually have ballet training? But I love this scene. Come to think of it, I've seen him do balletic stuff in movies before. "Less Than Zero" and the like. He shows that type of Baryshnikov charm and energy.
It illustrates the very nature of silent film. The Tramp never spoke. But he did sing in his last film. Though in "The Great Dictator," his Jewish barber character was a lot like that Little Tramp. Same soul, spirit and... dreams.
Absolutely! Thank you! I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned in the imdb forums. He really does have a "rump roast" like he called it in one of his more recent interviews. xD
The thing is: Pacino got the Oscar that year, when he should have won for Serpico and Robert should have won that year for Chaplin. The Oscars SUCK and they hardly ever give it to the performer who deserves it for the performance they deserve it for!!! Pisses me off.
he DEFINATLEY shouldve gotten the oscar hes just amazing.. i love him because of his achievments and everything ... pus it helps that he is pretty goodlooking... :)
lmao i can so not imagine downey taking ballet lessons. This is my favourite scene in the whole movie. I love when he says 'ski-ski-skiddeedee' its hilarious!
That one move he does at 0:15 is actually pretty hard. My dad was a ballet dancer and he told me that that's not something you learn while working with a personal trainer for an afternoon. From what I understand, Downey does have some ballet training. And it certainly shows.
Robert took ballet lessons. At the age of 10, while living in London, Robert attended the Perry House School in Chelsea and studied classical ballet. xDDD
Still can't imagine him doing so, though. Gahh, he's too perfect :3
I agree, and it had to be when he was young because some things, you just don't learn as well as when you are older. :( I regret not keeping ballet just because it would have helped me so much with my other dancing (I like lyrical and I've taken others, but if I were to go back it would probably just be lyrical because I don't have much time on my hands). I've done ballet later when I was 11 and there's just no way that beat change could be that precise without all that training.
Actually, if you've seen his interview with Jim Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio, they made a point of showing this clip because he never did have any ballet training. The guy's just a whiz.
can someone post this movie please!!!...i know someone did and it got taken off but i just need the whole movie for one day. Please if u have it i would realy appreciate it. i just need it up for one day and you can take it down. Please if your going to out it up let me know.
Downey's British accent is so hot, it's distracting almost how hot it is.
I need to watch this again, this time on mute.
Anyways, it was a crime he didn't even get an academy award nod, WTF? VERY few actors could do what he did in this film. You could tell he worked his ass off to perfect Chaplin for this film.
He played THE BEST little tramp. He should have won an oscar for it. Good he won a bafta tho. British recognize real talent.

-high falsetto- "Hi folks! I'm Vaslav Nijinsky!' xD
RDJ is amazing in this film. I honestly never cry in movies, and this movie is one of the two that has made me cry :)
As much as I love Al Pacino, RDJ completely deserved to win the Oscar that year.
