  • He played THE BEST little tramp. He should have won an oscar for it. Good he won a bafta tho. British recognize real talent.

  • Hahahahaha, I love the 0:24 to 0:27

  • AWESOME!! Can this man be any more talented?

  • best portrayal of Chaplin I have ever seen. EVER.

  • Downey is ridiculously good in this film... he had the accent, the Tramp's walk, everything down so well!

  • That was such a cute jump! Didnt know he could move like that.

  • I'm totally renting this. RDJ is so creative, I love it.

    And his booty

    yeehaw.

  • @PaniqBloosh He is creative but I don't get, "And his booty yeehaw."

  • His butt is nice.

  • Oh, ok. This might be weird but you have a very nice taste in butts.

  • yes! i can't believe no one else mentions it lol

  • @PaniqBloosh Yes it is lol

  • DAT ASS

  • I think it's worth it, just for him. :) (I noticed you posted ur comment like a month ago - have you seen it yet? )

  • @PaniqBloosh LOOOL But you're right...

  • @PaniqBloosh my friend, I couldn't agree more :)

  • not bad

  • He just did like...a bazillion changements!!! 0_0 what CAN'T this guy do?!

  • GENIUS actor, Downey.. and we almost lost him.

I hope he can hit the heights as a performer again! *****

  • Best performance %

  • It wasn't movie, it was real masterpiece. Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant as Charlie. I love also Diane Lane, Kevin Kline, very young and cute Milla Jovovich in this movie

  • i love the little leap and toe flutter thing. its so great.

  • this is my favorite scene of the movie

    I love him!!

Did Downey actually have ballet training? But I love this scene. Come to think of it, I've seen him do balletic stuff in movies before. "Less Than Zero" and the like. He shows that type of Baryshnikov charm and energy.

It illustrates the very nature of silent film. The Tramp never spoke. But he did sing in his last film. Though in "The Great Dictator," his Jewish barber character was a lot like that Little Tramp. Same soul, spirit and... dreams.

  • oh RDJ is a genius this was one of my favorite scenes from the movie!

  • Haha very funny and very cute :D

  • i love this. Chaplin AND RDJ. perfect.

  • My favourite scene is when he proposes to Hetty. It's sooo cute.

  • Just checking, that's in this movie, "Chaplin", right?

  • It's very fun, it's my favorite scene of Charlie Chaplin.

    Go RDJ

  • God I love RDJ. Those pants just make him jump sooo high. lol. Nah, seriously. He's great, that dance training comes in handy.

  • is that rdj actually doing the ballet stuff (sorry haven't seen the movie yet, i was just curious)

  • Yes, that is him.

  • he actually took classical ballet when he was 10

  • rdj has a vey nice tush!

  • Absolutely! Thank you! I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned in the imdb forums. He really does have a "rump roast" like he called it in one of his more recent interviews. xD

  • hottness hottness MAJOR hotTNESS

  • wow my goooood!

he is the best actor i have ever seen!!!

  • The thing is: Pacino got the Oscar that year, when he should have won for Serpico and Robert should have won that year for Chaplin. The Oscars SUCK and they hardly ever give it to the performer who deserves it for the performance they deserve it for!!! Pisses me off.

  • Ah...*fans face rapidly* is there nothing he can't do. So so so so so so so so hot!

  • -coughs- Love your username, by the way xD

-faints suddenly from the hotness of Robert-

    Ooops.

  • Ha ha wake up, you're missing the bit where he dances -sigh- !

  • mmmm he has a nice behind..

    ohhhhhh ahhh *faints too*

    *-*

  • haha, I noticed it too. Shame he seems to always cover it with an extra long jacket. :(

  • he says ballet dancer, idiot.

  • Shut up. I didn't know that.

  • Man, I need to get this movie at once!

  • he DEFINATLEY shouldve gotten the oscar hes just amazing.. i love him because of his achievments and everything ... pus it helps that he is pretty goodlooking... :)

  • I like him better with wavy hair xDDD

But he looks great whatever he does x3

  • amen to that

  • this movie is easy to rent in the drama section i believe at the video store.

as for RDJ - he is *so so* good in this, i agree he should've gotten the oscar that year, but... oh well :(

  • -high falsetto- "Hi folks! I'm Vaslav Nijinsky!' xD

RDJ is amazing in this film. I honestly never cry in movies, and this movie is one of the two that has made me cry :)

As much as I love Al Pacino, RDJ completely deserved to win the Oscar that year.

  • wow im a huge fan of Charlie Chaplin i have nearly all of his movies (as well as Buster Keaton)

RDJ did an amazing job! he reeks of chaplin in this movie.

  • omg i cant even tell this is robert. He is excellent.

  • lmao i can so not imagine downey taking ballet lessons. This is my favourite scene in the whole movie. I love when he says 'ski-ski-skiddeedee' its hilarious!

  • That one move he does at 0:15 is actually pretty hard. My dad was a ballet dancer and he told me that that's not something you learn while working with a personal trainer for an afternoon. From what I understand, Downey does have some ballet training. And it certainly shows.

  • I've do ballet & agree that that beat change at 0:15 shows he's had some training. I'd be surprised if he hadn't.

  • Robert took ballet lessons. At the age of 10, while living in London, Robert attended the Perry House School in Chelsea and studied classical ballet. xDDD

Still can't imagine him doing so, though. Gahh, he's too perfect :3

  • I agree, and it had to be when he was young because some things, you just don't learn as well as when you are older. :( I regret not keeping ballet just because it would have helped me so much with my other dancing (I like lyrical and I've taken others, but if I were to go back it would probably just be lyrical because I don't have much time on my hands). I've done ballet later when I was 11 and there's just no way that beat change could be that precise without all that training.

  • Actually, if you've seen his interview with Jim Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio, they made a point of showing this clip because he never did have any ballet training. The guy's just a whiz.

  • can someone post this movie please!!!...i know someone did and it got taken off but i just need the whole movie for one day. Please if u have it i would realy appreciate it. i just need it up for one day and you can take it down. Please if your going to out it up let me know.

  • hey if someone does put it up please let me know because im am dying to watch it too.

    thanks.

  • I love RDJ.

He's awesome as Charlie, and a wonderful actor!

    BRAVO to him!! :)

  • Downey's British accent is so hot, it's distracting almost how hot it is.

I need to watch this again, this time on mute.

Anyways, it was a crime he didn't even get an academy award nod, WTF? VERY few actors could do what he did in this film. You could tell he worked his ass off to perfect Chaplin for this film.

  • he got nominated for an oscar but lost out to Al Pacino, who so overracts in my opinion, oh well here's hoping he gets one eventually

  • OF COURSE IT IS :]]]

  • I love this movie! i want to know what he's saying in Russian at 00:41. does anyone know?

  • 100 bucks hes talking about the movie the cure

  • He's talking about City Lights.

  • oh yeah your right but in the cure when hes changing he does somthin like that (thank god i had my fingers crossed)

  • ignore this comment

  • awesome movie indeed! robert downey is just AWESOME

  • Yes I second that, can u plse post the whole movie if u can but great clip thanks for posting

  • He had ballet training? But I love this scene. It illustrates the very nature of silent film.
