@MsZeitgeist85 Well how do you answer his point that governments can dictate how people live under a system of government control? This is undeniable, to bring down costs they have to control peoples lives, it's undeniable.
The health risks of the smoker and obese come down on everyone else, same with the gang members fighting and shooting each other, skydivers, you name it really. It's a system designed to drag everyone down on the basis of the faults of everyone else.
@s0beit Except that doesn't happen in other countrys. Other countrys with non profit payer systems for their primary care spend less than us and have much better results.
@MsZeitgeist85 It absolutely does happen in other countries, lol, people already are beginning to dictate penalties for smokers and are trying to cut unhealthy food from people's diets to control costs, it only makes sense. No government program wants to spin out of control. Your name really says all I need to know about you in the form of economics, I won't even try to argue with you there. Waste of time.
@MsZeitgeist85 You didn't even reply to my argument, I never mentioned Germany, Japan or Singapore in here. I lost according to you because you're busy spewing your misspelled words at a straw man.
@s0beit Your first comment said Goverment System and a system Goverment Controll. The health care system in those 3 countrys is Pirvate Insurance and Private Doctors.
The diffrence is that their systen is non profit. Thats why it works.
@MsZeitgeist85 Private insurance is really not private if it has one purchaser being the government. I don't know why anyone thinks that's the case. I have the same disdain for people who say contracted government freelancers in war like "Black Water" are "private", no, they really aren't. When the government sets the prices they set the conditions not only for the company, but also indirectly through other legislation on the recipient. (cont)
@s0beit Thats not the way the Bizmark Model works. You ether buy non profit health insurance where you ether pay all or you split the balance with your employer.
@MsZeitgeist85 Well then it isn't single payer at all. Also might i add, minus regulation in the marketplace this would be absolutely possible in a free market. There's nothing stopping people from joining together and making their own non-profit pools of insurance _right now_ beside the horrible startup costs and burdens the government currently puts on the market in the first place.
@s0beit There are 3 models of health care. The Bismark Model, The Single Payer Model, and the Beverage model. Some countrys use a mix of these systems.
My point was that for profit insurance will never work and that is why no other country uses it.
THE GOP says let the Free Market work by allowing insurance companys to sell accrost state lines when that will make things worse because regulation is done at the state level.
@MsZeitgeist85 Limiting where companies can sell their products is not a good idea, I'm sure it'll help, I'm not a part of the "GOP" but it also, isn't the entire picture. It is one very small piece of a gigantic problem that both Democrats and Republicans fail to acknowledge.
The problem, if you're going to have a "free market", which by the way in medical care is the least free market in the entire country, is you can't much with it. There's far too much mucking, not too little.
@s0beit All you have to do is look at the states that have the most restrictions and least restrictions and see how this argument fails. States like New Jersey, Iowa, New York, and Minnesota have the best coverage while states like Oklahoma, and South Carolina have the worst.
If for profit HMOs worked other countrys would have used it and no other country does.
@MsZeitgeist85 Anti-smoking laws, anti-obesity laws, anti-drug laws become carved in stone because nobody wants to be known politically as the guy who let people fall to their vices to jack up the price of healthcare, they also most certainly don't want to be known as the guy who let the healthcare system crumble.
Smoking i can concur with that self-infliction because symptoms like lung cancer would be self deduced, but if you are born obese than that means you still might not be covered. Also if a person throws himself in front of a car the ambulance doesnt make a decision on whether to take him to the hospital because the injury is self-induced
That's a point, they are actually black, unlike Obama, and know a thing or two about how society works, for they're economists.
If you add that after the forward slash after the . c o m then you can see my humble criticism of the National Health Service as a Brit. Scroll to the bottom to read in order, I think my message needs to be spread: I will not watch America make this mistake without warning them.
Dr. Thomas Sowell and Dr. Walter E. Williams: the real dynamic duo! You neednt look any further for the cold hard truth, as there isn't a Leftist alive or display in Red Square that could go head-to-head with either of these two fine gentlemen in the realm of ideas.
This is for all the sorry and bilious Leftists who have left comments below. You'll likely get your wish granted this Saturday, but it will be followed by your comeuppance. If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it's free! You can ponder upon the meaning of that as you're waiting in line at the DMV to register for health insurance. You'll have even more time to think it over as you're waiting in line at a government-run clinic, waiting to be denied treatment!
This already happening here in th US with the private insurance Corps. This is video is corporate/wall Street propaganda. We will not see any health care reform in the US as long as both Republicans and Democrats are owned by the Wall Street Oligarchs like Goldman-Sachs
Better to have some health care then none at all. The NHS is too important to Britain and the British people. Not even the Conservatives want to get rid of it.
Britain has government health care. It's called the NHS. It's because of the NHS that my Grandma has been provided with treatment for her terminal cancer. If it was private like in America we wouldn't be able to afford it and she 'd be more than likely dead now. The Government don't control the doctors- they provide doctors.
Great and where did the treatment for her cancer get developed? Wasn't the UK or the NHS, more then likely it was the USA. Why couldn't she afford it..no job high tax bills. Also subsidizing health care costs makes the costs go up. No incentive for providers to be more efficient if they know what ever they charge will be covered.
It is because of Canadian health care my grandfather was put on endless waiting lists and eventually died of his cancer.
EasyEs- sorry about your grandfather. But my grandmother cant work because she's 73 and disabled. I come from a northern working class family. We cant affford to pay for it either. There's always been incentive to work- now more than ever, particularly for my family. And so what if the treatment is developed in the US. Whats the point of it if the people who actually need it then cant afford it. And in fact there is developments in treatment for cancer in Britain: eg CancerReserach UK.
I think some of you are missing the point. What if somebody was a drinker/smoker 25 yrs ago but stopped. Then at 60 yrs old they develop a lung or liver problem. Do they get overlooked ? A relative of mine had lung cancer and never smoked a cigarette in her life. The point is.... Who is the almighty gatekeeper on who gets the treatment? Govt beauracrats... GREAT! People like Acorn workers deciding who lives or dies. We are screwed if this passes.
antoconoo - that's the fundamental delusion. People know that junk food and smoking aren't the best things for them and yet they still consume them. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily - it's their bodies and lives.
Who is the government or anyone else to control people's lives? That's the deluded root of totalitarianism.
I believe that a person should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies too. Be it, fast food, smoking, alcohol, cannabis, heroin whatever. But they shouldnt expect tax payers money to pull them out of the hole they dug for themselves. I think governments have too much power in any case.
Pf. Money is already pumped into "education" already.
Not more then a few years ago was I in a "government sponsored" school (public school). There was heavy amounts of A.Sex B. Violence. C. Drugs. Now I'm home schooled, I've literally learned 10x more then in public.
Now, even when the department of education spends thousands per student, we think only if they spent more, the problem will be fixed?
Why is it, that when government creates a problem, the solution is more government?

No one advocates that the old and disabled must be with out care. However the 100% monopoly in Health care has been disastrous in both our countries.
There is research all over the world. But the majority come from the USA
Granted I don't think the insurance for everything is the solution. People need to start making their own choices with health care money.
