  • Possible to post tab or chords or standard notation for your guitar version of this song? Great work, btw!!

  • im trying to learn this song its so hard to remember for me and school in making it harder

  • hope thats not a body in the bag ...jesus....Dude....nice playing cheers

  • @zepfreakxx when I saw the picture of the guitar I wasn't expecting such a good sound. And a nice performance too. Thanks :-)

  • Great tune, awesome rendition. We have the same guitars at my school, they're all hooked up via one of Yamaha's piano lab systems. Apparently we're the only school in the country that has it!

  • i Luv this song :3

  • this is absolutely beautiful it just made my day :D thx

  • Actually there are plenty of guitar arrangements of this piece. It sounds great on Guitar. Try Guitar Solo in San Francisco they have all the classical guitar music available.

  • Where is sheet music available.

  • where can i find the tabs? :3

  • @vakiom Learn to read music and you shall learn this 5x faster than with tabs :D

  • @TheBeatlesCom, No. The only difference between sheet music and tabs is sheet music shows the timing. And you can learn that by listening to the song.

  • Not true at all sir, as many professers would tell you, learning the music helps reconize the ntoe connections of the circle of 5ths, getting a better understanding of whats going on, As jody fisher says in all his great theory books, tabs are good for starters but use them more then notation will strongly disable your compatibility with music and knowing the connections, also. if musics jsut a hobby, stick to tabs then, but if you want to go to a music collage you better learn to read music.

  • @TheBeatlesCom, Maybe more for classical. Musics more than just a hobby to me. I don't plan on going to college for something I learn on my own. Going to college for music won't give me any creative insight. It'll only teach me advanced musical theory. I believe more in ear training with basic musical theory than that though.

  • @vakiom dirk.meineke.free.fr/classical2.html

  • Awesome peice!!! do you have the sheet music for this?

  • I really like your interpretation of this, very well done, I don't think it's to fast.

  • This is so fucking lovely. Ugh. Time to try this on the guitar myself.

  • me gusta esta adaptación a guitarra! bonita interpretación!

  • Lovely...would you marry me?

  • thank you man!

  • Magnifico.

  • This is so so beautiful! Great job!!

  • could somebody give me the tabs D:? :DDD pleaseeeeeee!

  • @jexxiih im looking for it too.

  • @jexxiih just look at his fingers?

  • @InvisibleShoeLaces yeah, but i'm not pretty good with that! lol u_u

  • @jexxiih no, because it's not made for the guitar. if it's not on any popular guitar-tabs-website, then just look up the notes on synthesia clips here on youtube, or look up the original sheet music; you should know, it was made for the piano.

dont be scared though; it's a very short and easy sequence that gets repeated exactly. good luck.

  • This is beautiful :)

  • Love your sound. A bit more practices and a good tune up, and this could be fantastic. Also, try to think of the song as "breaths". It'll help.

  • need to tune

  • need to tune

  • beautiful song player needs to tune his instrument but other than that great job

  • tuning session is in order!!!!!!!!

  • Very nicely paced. Kudos!

  • Wonderfull.

  • what tuning is this please please please

  • @evanwilliamssourmash Its in normal guitar tuning, If you want to learn it, simply type in Satie on ultimate guitar, there is a perfect tab for it!

  • wery beautiful version!! have you transcribed this piece sir?

  • TABS TABS !!!! I want to play this song using guitar since i cant play piano lol

  • Love this piece.

Check this out too, quite similar yes?

Search "Marvel at the Stars - Art of Verse"

  • are you sight reading?

  • a beautiful peace done on a beautiful guitar well done glad you put it up

  • Very nice. I'm trying to learn the same piece. You make it look effortless. Nice choice.

  • Tablature is poop. Learn to read music.

  • @Egup1 hey you, learn to shut the fuck up about things you don't need to bitch about...if I want to play in tab, i'll play in tab, without heeding the words of fuckers like you

  • @illydinxaxen Sorry, you're right.

  • Please make a tab for this.......PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Is there any way to get the sheet music of this arrangement? If possible I'd prefer the score above the tabs... I love this piece, and I tried it on piano, but since I'm not a pianist, but a guitar player, I think a guitar arrangement will suit me better...

  • just brilliant! fantastic song.

  • thanks for this beatiful acoustic version of Gymnopedie.. love it. And gonna learn it ! =)

  • Pas facile de jouer avec un alliance main gauche....

    Mais bien joué. Belle sonorité.

  • John Williams did a good rendition of this as I recall

  • this music is really good when your tense and you just want to relax

  • This is beautiful, I had been trying to find gymnopedie in guitar for a long time :)

  • This is great! I had been trying to find gympnopedie in guitar for a long time =) I love it

  • Hi zepfreak!

Thanks so much for posting this! I got some tab off the net (there's a good one from ultimateguitar for those of you looking), but I watched this and made changes where I thought your version sounded better. I particularly like that you finish with the harmonics. thanks again :)

  • PPPPLEASE DO YOU HaVE A TAB??

  • is this with the normal tuning eadgbe?

  • @blueingreentrain Indeed it is!

  • wow!!! cool!!!

  • I really liked it I usually hear this on a piano but I think it sounds really nice on a guitar too :)

Thanks for taking your time to do this I really do enjoy it :)

  • im wrong or you´re seeling tabs that they aren´t even yours?

    Shame.

  • beautifull mate

  • man, really thanks you for that! awsome!

  • This is very mellow classical piece.

  • hey where can i get this version of the notes/tabs?

  • Wonderful! Nice job!

  • One of my favourite pieces excecuted pefectly my friend!!!!! 5****** congrat6s greetings and respect from Bram D., Holland ( the tempo is spot on, though it could be played slower, but not neccissarily!!)

  • que chanta seño!!! vendiendo tablaturas que nisiquiera son suyas!!! you s--k!!!

  • you´re terribly disrespectful!

  • It looks like you're reading the tabs for the first time! Even I play that song with more sensitivity than you do :P

Ease up. Learn it by heart, and stop having those amateur flaws, I know you can clean those up in a heart beat. Also the whole point of this song is the unstoppable force with which these notes come along. They must be accurate! Apart from that the guitar had a very nice sound. Hope to see a proper video from this sometime. In fact. I'm countin on it! So i'll follow you from here.

  • well i dont really use tab when i play...

  • @jewbrew couldn't agree more.

  • It is so fast. But very good job!

  • I agree with the last comment. A bit too fast for my tastes but that is your interpretation and it is gorgeous. Thank you for posting this.

  • your going too fast!!!!!!!!!!!

  • work on the the tempo

  • I mean Old Friends, oops.

  • The first few seconds sounds like Bookends.

  • wow that was really nice. very ghud job

  • Nice one. I'd love to check out your transcription, but I want to finish my own first.

  • i applaud you. very nicely done :D. i play these songs on piano, and while not complicated they're more difficult than they seem. keep up the good work :}.

  • Very nice :)

I made a version too could you check it out?

    greetings from Jens

  • Parkening and the guitar, you can find the score there.

  • wow, man. fantastic job. i learned to play piano specifically so i could play this song. but i've never heard it on guitar before. it's beautiful. where can i find tabs for it? do you know any place good for these tabs? keep up the good work.

  • great playing maan, seriously. does anyone have the tabs to this song?

  • you can go to ultimate guitar. or just go on google and search for the tabs/

  • wow, this song is amazing. good show man, good show.

  • i think its too fast i play at 55bpm but just my opinion.

  • 80 - are you on valium???

  • for me, it's a little too fast

  • A great song. I can play it with my eyes closed. Whenever i feel depressed, I just sit before my piano and play this, makes me forget everything else.

  • Good job!

  • Thanks for making my day a little bit better :)

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • Silent Guitar

  • How many classical guitar grades would be appropriate for this kind of song? I've been playing jazz before and now have problems with reading sheets and playing classical music. How long 'till I can master it?

  • Technically, this song isn't too difficult to play (obviously not the easiest, but not exceptionally tricky), but mastering it is another matter... perfecting that languid, soulful playing style is a rather tougher challenge! I think you could be playing it in a month, but to master it may take much longer, good luck!

  • really? the left hand is bloody difficult - if you think it is easy, post a video and show us all how it is done

  • when I said that this song wasn't too difficult to play I don't mean any disrespect to zepfreakxx, this is beautiful and well played.

What I meant was that compared to all other pieces in the guitar repertoire available, this isn't the most tricky. It is less difficult than, say, some hard bebop guitar lines or a Steve Vai lick, but that doesn't mean I think it's easy, so no need to get edgy. Relax and enjoy the music, and get rid of the childish user name

  • That kind of comment is trivial and ridiculous, but is offensive to people who come on here to listen to good music. Just because you're anonymous on here it doesn't mean you shouldn't act with respect.

  • don't mind him... registering off his name, he isn't to intellectual

  • So you're 20 years old and you're already an intellectual snob. You should smoke a bit of weed to round out your unbearable personality

  • intellectual snobbery at 20.

    you are the ultimate tool

  • Oh my fucking god. THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?. What did I do to offend you?

  • This is Gymnopedie 1, not 3, and there are some false notes, but great playing!

  • To those who say that Satie's music sounds awful in general:

That may be true in a lot of cases, but he was fighting against Wagnerism, which he so hated. This is why his pieces are very short etc. Also, though you might say, and i agree, that some of his music is dissonant, this was important and not many people had done it before. In this respect he paved the way for ravel and esspecially Debussy, both great admirers of him as a man and his work.

  • Quite honestly I've never heard a thing by Satie I didn't like. I also don't find any of it dissonant but then I like Jazz where a fair amount of dissonance is expected. His music is genius in it's simplicity.

  • well said :}

  • @phasmidman I love his music :)

  • @phasmidman also i think he wrote this piece in the mental hospital with no intstrument at all

  • @phasmidman hey wasn't debussy already coming up to fame and he helped shed the light on Satie? They were good friends after all, but correct me if i am wrong. Both great composer's nonetheless and it doesn't take a way from either of them.

  • i think this version is too fast..

maybe the guitar player could be more relaxed before playing this piece.

  • estas mal hijoooo

    checatebien la partitura

  • The guitar's tone is beautiful, as is your playing! What kind of amp did you use? This guitar is surprisingly affordable, and I'm tempted, but my hangup is having to be 'connected' in order to hear it.

  • On the behalf of Mr. Satie, I would just like to say "shut up asshole".

  • In case there is any confusion, my comment was directed at enkiitu.

  • What ease with words. You really have a flowery way of putting things.

What I said is right, whether you think so or not. And as for the cursing, well... I wont go dignifying an idiot like you

  • My point, in case you missed it, was to merely instruct you to refrain from expressing your, obviously inappropriate, snarky, conclusion regarding Mr. Satie's work. Flowery is not a word you under-educated schmuck.

  • I am fully entitled to express whatever opinion I might have.

You do not, however, have the right to insult me hiding behind the anonimity. You are a coward and an intolerant person. And I'm a well educated person. Flowery IS a word, as you might look it up, and proof that I'm educated is the fact that we are communicating in english which is neither my first nor second language.

    Please don't keep insulting me.

My original comment was respectful and I deserve to be treated respectfully too.

  • i really wouldnt say that.

because if he had 'fame' i would have already heard of him prior to listening to this peice.

  • if you haven't heard of satie by now, you don't know nothing

  • who ever said i knew anything? XD

  • In what way do you find this music awful? I'm not interested in arguing but I am curious! Is there a particular grievance with his style or is it a general dislike?

  • Played fast but the tabs sound right on.

What tuning is this? I know you're in drop D and I believe you tuned A to E for the bass tone. Is the rest standard?

  • it sounds very awful... u destroyed this fantastic song with ur wrong tempo

  • Very nicely done, but meant to be slower.

  • Finally some vibrato where it should be.

    Nice version.

  • Good song, well played!

  • i think my comment got deleted with the tab link, if you want the tabs message me :)

  • Very Nice indeed!

    That guitar is Brilliant too!

  • Bravo. Excellent. Not perfect, maybe just a tad too fast (this could be YouTube's fault), but played with great feeling and that's what's count. Thanks for sharing.

  • god this is like the best song in the world and no tabssssss???????

  • You can get the "sheet music notation" at about any big music store or 'on-line'. If you can't read music notation you should be able to get some 'guitar teacher' to transcribe it..from the sheet for not too much money. The sheet is in D major.

  • Plenty of mistakes but still the best version I've heard here. Any word on the tab?

  • Let me have your email address, I dont have tab but can let you have the score.

  • @kaioxygen Mistakes? Satie would love it, then. He loved mistakes!

  • @brauliolaertes What makes you think Satie loved mistakes?

  • GOOOSEBUMPS!

  • I also wish I would of typed:" I wish more people were of that opinion." Thanks for response.

  • Indeed, it is I who thank you for your graciousness! I share your sentiments that more people exhibiting more open-mindedness would serve the arts well. (I also share your sentiments that an "edit" feature would be much appreciated here! :))

  • give us a link to tabs please

  • I appreciate this performance very much. Your approach is strong and confident, yet appropriately delicate. Your timing is solid, and your phrasing is very appealing. Try playing it more slowly, if that appeals to you. I'll find this video very helpful should I attempt to learn this piece...

  • WOW! What a classy comment! Such a delight to read, especially in light of so much negativity here on YouTube! And, I wholeheartedly agree. The performance is superbly executed. I, too, shall use this as a reference to learn this!

  • yeah but I would hate to hear him in a bad mood. sheesh! I'd love to see a comment like that applied to some of the amazing punk bands like The Clash or Gang of Four. I wonder what he would say about their phrasing.

  • Well, alejandro, all things considered, a well-executed performance is something to be appreciated, whether it's Romantic, Classical, Baroque, Jazz, Country, Ragtime, Punk, Emo, Ska--whatever! As Duke Ellington once said, there are only two kinds of music: that which is good and that which could be. ;)

  • Now there's a classy comment. Well said. I wish were of the opinion

  • should this song go in D? This sounds like E standard.

  • good job, be careful with the arpegiato only.

and fix some notes but you're on the right track.

    good luck

  • there is wrong notes so little but its good..:)

  • Good Sound..

In this video you use an amplifier or computer Monitor ?

  • Liked it, sounds good. You have a clear sound. Nice technique. But... I think you abuse a little bit of the "arpeggiatto" (thinking of that the piece was made for piano, and pianists doesn't use this that often), and it's a little fast.

  • wait wat? arpeggiatto? pianists don't use it that often?

do you mean arpeggiator? there was none of that in this.

  • No, what I mean is that sometimes he plays the notes of a chord separately.

  • It's a technique to get more sound from the guitar. Pianos don't have this problem but for a song like this, playing just a straight chord from a guitar sounds lacking and does not sustain the song. The player made a good choice to roll on the chords to extend the feeling of resonance here.

  • Agree, and the tempo didn't bother me, but the faltering rhythm did. All in all, my impression was that this was a hurried performance.

  • that sounded really nice, wow. I've never heard it on guitar before

  • where I can find a tab for the song like you played?

  • sounds good!!

    verry beautifull song isn't?

    it's great!!

  • ah i love this song, my cousin first showed it to me and i instantly loved it.

thanks for the video! now i can learn to play it. :)

  • muy bueno, felicidades!,me encanta

  • WOW! Beautiful!

  • great

  • apparently you're one of the few true musicians on youtube... thanks for this one, really nice.

  • Thanks for getting back to me so quickly with an answer. The guitar had a really nice sound, especially over the internet.

  • Very nice playing of the piece. Is it possible to find out what type of guitar you are playing. Thanks for the music.

  • Hi

Its a Yamaha SLG100N also known as a silent guitar, has built in reverb & headphone socket.

    regards

    Tony

  • Hi is there any tabs ?

  • That's Handsome !! really ! congratulations !

Have you got any tab/score of it ?

I really love Sir Satie, and your version is great !
