I think you have been misunderstood, The first 3 generations are the best of generations because of the pious muslims eg. the Sahaba. I did not say all muslims were good and perfect, no. But the way of practice amongst those pious muslims were to what was according to Qur'an and Hadith. These days muslims are in sects and follow what they want or what their Scholar says, mind you that the scholars are giving their opinions.
The prophet did mention in his last sermon that he left the Qur'an and Hadith and one should follow that. So in other words to be close like the Prophet and the companions one should practice Islam on how it was practised in those generations.
If you want to follow Quran and Sunnah, then what about the countless hadith making it clear that the majority group are the saved sect (Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat), if you want to follow salaf, then follow Abu Hanifa, shafi, malik, ibn hanbal, not a heretic who is not a salaf, he live a few centuries ago at the most. His own teachers warned against him and the mufti of makkah and madina then refuted hin as did everyone except saud who has no legitimate claim to the throne.

Salafis do follow a madhhab. It's a misconception. Sheikh Ibn Baz for example was a Hanbali.

There is confusion amongst people who follows the way of the salaf and are called wahhabis. Muhammad abdul wahab was not a God or a prophet but a scholar, yet I am a Wahabi just for following the way of the salaf? He was just a scholar who preached that we should practice like the Prophet (saws) and Sahaba did especially in the first 3 generations according to Qur'an and sunnah. I think you have been misunderstood, The first 3 generations are the best of generations because of the pious muslims eg. the Sahaba. I did not say all muslims were good and perfect, no. But the way of practice amongst those pious muslims were to what was according to Qur'an and Hadith. If you want to follow Quran and Sunnah, then what about the countless hadith making it clear that the majority group are the saved sect (Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat), if you want to follow salaf, then follow Abu Hanifa, shafi, malik, ibn hanbal, not a heretic who is not a salaf, he live a few centuries ago at the most. His own teachers warned against him and the mufti of makkah and madina then refuted hin as did everyone except saud who has no legitimate claim to the throne.

For instance the most authentic hadith explains that one should pray with arms over each other on chest but hanafi believe you should have arms lowered on stomach......

Authentic hadith says that?? Where? Mahdabs weren't even existing during the time of the Prophet(saws) so how can he say to follow a mahdab? When we are talking about Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'aah, we are not talking about the fiqh or madhab of Imaam Abu Hanifah (rh), Imam Maalik (rh), Imam Shafi (rh) or Imam Ahmed (rh). Since a madhab is attributed to a particular scholars juristic understanding of a particular matter....

I am follower of the salaf. A true muslim must believe in the Qur'an and hadith and put it into practice. I want to be like the prophet(saws) and the companions therefore I follow what they did. Salafis do follow a madhhab. It's a misconception. Sheikh Ibn Baz for example was a Hanbali.
However as the scholars of the past said, the laymen has no madhhab, i.e he follows the madhhab of his sheikh.. So the salafi scholars do indeed follow madhahib.

Bro u read it wrong, im not disrespecting the prophets wife, with all due respect to her and the prophets companions. im talking about sahih and bukhari.. have uread this hadith, i didnt believe it until i read it myself. Another point im trying to make is to use sahih in arguement against someone who doesnt take it as complete lagitimacy doesnt make sense...its like trying to prove a point to a muslim using one of buddha's sayings.
