@weezyheezy No, the programme says of 'Gunsmoke' of which Leo Strauss particularly enthused, that it presented a simple black and white view, a 'Good' vs 'Evil' kind of distinction, and thus was one such means of the kind of myth-making (even if not really true, he seems to have thought) he considered necessary. Note how different is what the documentary says, compared with the way you try reduce it to something else entirely. Play it back and you'll hear for yourself what is actually said.

@waypasthadenough That's the general assumption that the founders were interested in liberty, but I have to disagree,most weren't.The Constitution has too many flaws like the General Welfare Clause that underminds all liberty. Constitution does not protect self ownership or property rights, instead it sets up a system of taxes, and you really don't own your resources that you produce. The resources are owned by the state, and you get to keep a portion of it at their priviledge, or their behest.
