  • Wow, I did not know you could change the lens around like that and make it a macro lens.

Totally going to try it if I ever get a window seat sometime.

    Thanks!

  • Thumbs up if u did same thing after watching this video

  • cooool

  • To be fair, if you can afford to purchase a high end camera, it is likely that you are also able to afford a macro lens, but this is pretty damn awesome.

  • @CrunchyBrush Not all DSLR's are high end, and some of the macro lenses cost more than the lower-end DSLR's. For example my camera body cost about $420 but if I wanted a macro lens it would be $500 XDD

  • oh.. but the title doesn't say you need one of those kind of cameras. lol not "on the cheap" unless you already have one of those.

  • @drasco61084 A DIY lens tutorial would imply its used on an SLR, so the title does say you need "one of those kind of cameras".

  • thats only on cheap planes

  • @Justin5645 3 seconds is a bit arbitrary, that's more than enough time to get dust in there, just exercise common sense - if you don't do anything dumb like try this at a building site or anything that dusty, you'll be fine. If you really care about your camera, you'll have a lens brush and huffer anyway and a speck or two of dust will be easily removed without scratching the glass...saying 'don't do this' is a knee-jerk reaction which is unhelpful in the extreme.

  • That is SOOOOO cooool

  • @Justin5645 Not if you know how to maintain a dSLR lmao. Don't be so dramatic. Dust won't scratch your sensor if the mirror is down and the shutter closed.

  • Man, I have the same stupid beard. I feel for you.

  • @malow87

    *Fist bump*

  • @Justin5645 lol ever heard of sensor cleaning,

  • my camera doesn't allow me to trip the shutter unless the lens is attached. Any suggestions?

  • Should you wish to post those sweet pics in 1900x1080 - that would look even better as wallpaper. No worries if not- just a bit fuzzy when stretched. (beggers can't be choosers, right?! lol ;)

  • mijn camera does not allow making photos without a lens on it -,-"

  • @Justin5645

Unless you want to take cool photos in the field without a macro lens

  • when I try to do this I can only see black Canon 500D with 18-55mm Lens. PLease Help!!

  • @FIFATerminator

    Same here....with extension tube...

  • On the cheap!?! This isn't cheap :p

  • If you need to set the aperture before doing this, you can often set the Av you want, then hold the DoP button while taking the lens off. That way the Av won't close down when you remove the lens and it'll keep your setting while off the camera.

  • My friend showed me this trick about a year ago and its awesome. Even my cheap crappy dslr gets nice macropictures now ;D

  • Congratulations, you took photos of frost on a window

  • How do you get the camera to take pictures without a lens attached?

  • for the next 2 months, this is all im going to see on my newsfeed on fb...

  • handy tip, thanks.

  • Sweet - a beard! Extra manliness points.

  • sweet!

  • Um, nice :)

  • Great way to allow dust particles on your sensor. Never take your lenses off with the camera on..

I know, I know modern DSLRs have automatic sensor cleaning, but still...

I guess you went to Africa to bring some help. Props to you, keep it up!

  • @TheHiddenPart Or maybe learn how to clean them yourself? A sensor isn't nitroglycerin, it wont explode if you touch it.

  • @abraxsis Why look for trouble? I can and usually clean my sensor myself, but the odds of scatching the filter in front of it increase with the frequency you do clean it. I'd rather keep it to a minimum, YMMV.

  • @TheHiddenPart Powered or not, the sensor is covered until a photo is taken. This is true at least on any Canon DSLR I've seen.

  • @spacefaget Covered, yes. Dustproof, not. Let alone Live View models.

  • If you have a heavy weight paper you can make a tube, and push the lens forward to create a macro lens.

  • When was this taken and where were you going??? Sounds french to me?

  • @1959Southernman Maybe he was going to Canada

  • @1959Southernman

I spent 3 weeks in Africa. 1 1/2 weeks in the smallest nation in Africa (The Gambia), and 1 1/2 weeks in the war-torn nation of Sierra Leone. I'm flying back to the USA from Senegal, hence the French announcements in the plane.

  • Nice beard Destin!

  • @jsd23

My sarcasm detector is in the red

  • @destinws2 in all seriousness I can't tell the difference between a good beard and a bad beard. But you didn't have a beard before and now you do, so presumably you grew it deliberately and know what you're doing therefore I conclude it's probably a nice beard.

You could reword my first comment as "Hey, Destin now has a beard, and I have noticed this" if you like!

  • @destinws2

    A sarcasm detector, how usefull!

  • cool man
