Interesting how I just talked to a cop who was encouraging me to get my handgun permit. He and several other policemen wanted MORE guns on the streets, in the hands of lawful citizens. He expressed regret that I might not easily get a concealed carry where I lived. It speaks volumes when the people dealing most with armed, violent offenders want more good people to have guns. Slowly Obama is getting to his dream of banning guns. By slowly raising our ammo prices to where people can't afford them. You can't shoot a gun without ammo. Obama wants to pass this because he thinks "it will make us safer", now if he was smart, and thought about the average criminals, they break the law. Self defence accounts for less than 0.01% of gun use. The USA has the highest gun crime rate in the western world. Self defence is a flawed reason to possess guns in urban areas.

Although I could go to the store and buy some meat, I can buy a box of rifle rounds to last me a coulpe deer seasons. It helps me and alot of my friends. And I live in Philadelphia so CCW is an essential. And the reason we have more firearms crimes is because most of it is due to illegal firearm trafficking to gangs or people with criminal records.

Have any of you slack jawed hicks actually traveled outside of your own fucked-up country? Just to point out a few facts:
1. The USA has the highest per capita rate of gun crime of any developed democracy.
2. Countries like Britain, France, Australia and Germany (where it is illegal to own a gun without a license) have much, much, much lower murder rates than the USA.
3. Nobody uses submachine guns or assault rifles to hunt animals. Their only purpose is for KILLING PEOPLE.

There are plenty of things I love about the US. The gun laws are not one of them. What you said about overseas college students is technically true, though it's worth noting that the US has far more universities than any other country...so it makes sense. And before you start on that fact, the US is the only western democracy where students are forced to pay such ridiculously high fees to attend college.
