  • I used to manage the corner hotel in Richmond, Victoria, and by chance we booked Sonia dadda for three nights just before they released this song. By the time they hit Melbourne, the song had become a massive hit in Australia, and we had the three biggest nights at the corner hotel that we'd ever had. It was a huge sell-out, with the place packed to the rafters. We had so many people outside on the footpaths that we opened all the doors so everyone could still enjoy the show. It was pure magic.

  • Love this song, takes me back, shot the kuz Tony lol

  • Love this song, takes me back, shot the kuz Tony lol

  • These guys are originally from Chicago, they launched their australian tour from a night club in Schuamburg IL, I was there. They rock!

  • My mom used to put Sonia Dada's music on in the car when I was little...

I was sad, as I grew up, when I realized that almost nobody knew who they are.

There is the country version of this song. Sonia Dada owns this song hands down, the country version is good, cause I do love this song, but Sonia sings this song with soul. Jerrod Niemann sings the country version.

  • @vinnieIbz Yep. I like Jerrod Niemann's, but I LOVE this...Much better. Would love to see them, but don't know if they tour anymore.

  • I love this song with all my heart!!!! I found the Santa Monica version when I was searching for the "popular" version that I heard on the radio by some guy Jerrod. As a "blues singer" the Santa Monica version is more up my alley

  • Nice, I like this version. I'm sorry to say I never knew it existed until I heard Jerrod Neimann's cover of it. Both versions strike me as being real good.

  • Best song to sing at kareoke on Thursday Nights.. alsways the last song and everyone sings it loud and dances.

  • Awesome song, wen i found it on youtube was on replay for ages,LOUD,bet the neighbours got sick of it.Brings back neat memories

  • I totally forgot about this song until Jarrod Nieman covered it...I'm ashamed to say. Cuz what talent it took to actually write this and perform it even better than jarrod

  • This Song is AWESOME X 25!

  • this isnt a racial conferrence where your opinion is heard. listen to the song dumb cunts

  • yes every fight on the planet was caused by white people, you are an idiot. everybody has to take responsiblity. you can't blame one race for every fight, same as you can't blame one religion. every man, women, and child has their own mind and they choose what to do with it. also your grammar is terrible you fuckwit.

    vvvvvvvv

  • don't understand why whites persons are always stirring up successful black people? don't u f anything better to do? We don't go stirring u people up???? remember...... every fight on this planet was caused by greed whites, look at whats happening in the middle east, killing innocent people for their oil

  • this song and band is awesome love it

    !

  • this song came out the year i was born...1992

  • Let's stop playing the race card. The bottom line is Sonya Dada will never be topped! These guys have talant far beyond most singers out there.

  • there was a time o lady when you use to sake it for me

  • love it...

  • Holy Moses! This is bringing back my many early adolescent Saturday mornings watching music videos. Heart.

  • i love this song, always puts me in a good mood

  • Sonia Dada

    Sings the blues

    The music wins

    But the lovers lose.

  • Seriously, I remember this being in the top 5 songs back when I was a kid... guess Aussie & NZ are the only countries who gave these guys a fair run, lol

  • @zerosis True that! This song was my childhood :P

  • @zerosis i'm a kiwi and remember it being played heaps wen i was younger, just love it

  • @zerosis but after this song they kinda died

  • @zerosis

I have heard that, it was top hit in Australia and New Zealand, can't understand why it did not catch on in the US, I am from the US and it is hands down my favorite song of all time. Not all of us in the US are musically lacking! :)

  • @mystic16mom For some reason they didn't release it elsewhere - the catalogue number was on an Australian label called Festival Records, which was not part of an international chain. The album was released internationally, though. (This is the good version - for some reason, Rage had a version of this video with the same visual but some crappy "single remix" of the song.)

  • @zerosis I know! And it's not even on itunes!

  • @amongstllamas Really? o.o Ah well. Guess it's gonna have to be pirating? =p

  • Interesting version nice voice,xo

  • One of the greatest songs ever...hadn't heard it in ages, then heard the country remake last nite and had to find it! Come back, Sonia Dada!!!

  • I miss Sonia! Come back guys!

  • Does anyone know if Tracy Chapman ever recorded this song? When I heard the country version, I knew all the words and I know I had this cassette single back in the late 80's or early 90's, but I can't find any other recordings. Driving me crazy.

  • I love the guy with the deep voice

  • hearing this reminds me of singing (well yelling lol) along with my dad when i was about 6 and it still rocks!

  • Haha! I love this song and Sonia Dada are great, but each time I watch this video, I can't help but think of Cheech Marin in Born in East L.A.

  • Comment removed

  • When Jerrod's version came out, I said "I know this song, this is a remake"! Then I found this and I was like ahhh, yeahhhh here we go, this is it, the best!!!!!

  • 23 people walked out the door

  • A long time favorite, for sure! Love it!

  • This is my fav song of all time and only this version of it although others are good no one beats SD at doing it

  • @MissSammy06 agreed!!

  • I haven't heard this song in years. Forgot how much I love it. One of the most underrated songs ever. We don't hear about SD anymore in Australia. R they still together? The lead singer is an awesome singer.

  • Great song. I love Sonia Dada's music.

  • Sweet! Thanks for this!

  • Not better, just different, Jerrod did an outstanding, soulful job as well. Thank God we all have different tastes. Sonia Dada gonna make some money, and get recognition too, thanks to Jerrod and the Country music industry!

  • Not better, just different, Jerrod did an outstanding, soulful job as well. Thank God we all have different tastes. Aonia Dada gonna make some money, and get recognition too, thanks to Jerrod and the Country music industry!

  • love this song!

  • Pity you don't get this type of quality music these days, LOVE Sonia Dada! It's impossible to listen to this song without singing along!

  • so true.

  • I hear parts of this song that are better than Jerrod Nieman's version -- and vice versa. Maybe they need to record a duet together!

  • These guys rock...would love to hear more from them. Great singer and those back-up vocals are awesome. Love the music too, great rythm. An all around favorite.

  • Loooove this song.

    One of my top ten.

    Great video too, SD.

Thanks for making my world brighter.

  • this is way better than that stupid country music version. freaking crazy that that guy THOUGHT he could do it justice..............just sayin'

  • @LasVegasVerde um...this is country. I agree this one is better than Jerrod Niemann's cover... just sayin'

  • I first heard of these guys on a Western Mass. radio station, when the DJ played "Anna Lee" from "A Day at the Beach". There's a very good reason why they never became major stars - they were a tremendous band that you couldn't just conveniently stick into one category (sort of like Little Feat in that way). They were all over the place in their style, and while I loved them, radio isn't too keen on anything that doesn't sound like everything else on the radio. They were too good for radio.

  • Flipped by the new country version on the radio - thought "Nooooo". Went back. Threw up a little in my mouth.

  • beautiful song

  • I gotta say I like both versions of this song, this one being more soulful while the other one is a bit more upbeat but both versions are great

  • It is a complete and utter and shame that this song is these guy's zenith

  • @Leebo13 Couldn't agree with you more. These guys were/are just tremendous. One thing that didn't help was their label (Capricorn) went under a couple years after this album was released. Also: a black lead singer who . . . doesn't sound like Usher? Or who doesn't rap? That was a big reason why The BusBoys didn't make it past "The Boys are Back in Town" from "48 Hours" - they were a black blues/rock band. You won't be successful if you can't be lumped into a convenient category.

  • love the original.

  • 20 people don't treat Dada No Good No Mo

  • Is this great band still together??

  • I love this song!

  • I am a Mississippian, white, Baptist, Republican, descendant of slave owners.......but I have to say, this version of this song is the greatest of all of them...............................how's that for affermative action for you, huh?!?!?!?!?!

  • @er20092009 you know that fact that you think that you should get some recognition just for liking a song sung by a black person....

is probably evidence that you're still racist.

  • excellent version, especially towards the end where they just sing a capella while clapping

  • @evangelina1507 It's not a "version" it's the original. If you like this then you will likemany more songs Sonia Dada has done.

  • @SSArt98 i am wondering why i havent heard of them before

  • @talonescalante If I remember right Sonia Dada never really wanted play on the radio.A buddy turned me on to them around 1994-96,they also came to our City Festival (Bears Of Blue River) in the late 90's.

Check out these albums by them: 'A Day at the Beach' 'Sonia Dada" and 'My Secret Life'

    I'm sure you will like.

    Truth~Peace~Love2U

  • so this has only 800k views and the cover has 2.5million? wheres the logic there?

  • i remember when this first came out they played this version, when it went number one they played a remix which was a better version to this, i have been forever trying to track it but can't find it because i don't know the name of the remix, I think it was on the 'you ain't thinkin' about me' single by memory, but a search after search leads me nowhere, can anyone help me out?

  • @MickInOz82 mate ive been trynna find it 2 but bugga me i cant .

cn sum 1 help us out here

  • @RBTCLD I found out the it is the Ebersold Paige Remix and was on the 3-track single of 'You Don't Treat Me No Good' 01-Edited Album Version, 02 Album Version, 03 Ebersold Paige Remix. NOt only that it was also ont he 'You Ain't Thinking About Me Single' as well along with another version, 01 YATAM, 02 YATAM (Album Version), 03 I Live Alone, 04 YDTMNG (Ebersold/Paige Remix), 05 YDTMNG (Krampf Remix), so that is a start, just have to find it now.

  • one of the best one hit wonder songs ever written...the talent was there...just dont know waht happened to the group Lol

  • Why don't they ever give credit on the radio to these great music artists every time the new versions are played. PS Sonia is way better.. my opinion.

  • <3 this song

  • good song ... reminds me of when i was little and dad played it

  • looks like cheech, love it

  • I like both.

  • Sorry, Jerrod Niemann - you can't hold a candle to Sonia Dada.

  • I just about yelled at the radio when I heard the new version of this. I'd only head this rendition until a while ago. If you like this, try "You ain't thinkin bout me" too.

  • ahaha now that i've heard this i've got to say love the soul. mmhm. :D

  • Hats off to Jerrod Niemann for a great cover, but this one is the bomb

  • My friend showed me this. Untill then I had only heard the shit cover thats on the radio...why the hell do they play the shitty version? This is so much better.

  • I love this version, I heard the other version before this but I like this way more.

  • not only is this the original but it's the best

  • Gotta love this song,, just takes the words right outta my mouth

  • love this song but i'm wondering why it came up when i searched for rob mills...

  • @TheOnlyMissLaurey cause im sure he wrote this song??..... but then again i could be wrong!

  • hey adam pac-man jones

  • BrokenButterfly...I also love Kevin Sharp's version of "Nobody Knows."

  • i fucking agree this version is way better

  • I knew it!! I heard this on the radio and swore I heard it before. LOVE this song!!! I think both versions are great. Two different voices. Sonia is a little more soulful and smooth while Jerrod is a little more aggressive and grainy. I love them both, I will put both on my iPod.

  • NEW ZEALAND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
