so when you guys fly into places like th cascade mountains is that just messing around or messing around but going to the target range. or why do you fly through there.
im 16 and i plan on enlisting to hopefully be a pilot and with any luck fly f-18s this video is great inspiration to me to keep on a good path and to go along with it
thank you for you service as well as for giving me inspiration
5 Stars. Awesome video especially since I grew up in the northwest and was stationed at NAS Whidbey for 11 years.. I prefer the sound of the jet as opposed to music but it was a good choice of music at least.
WOW! Totally awesome! That lake at 2:50 reminds me of a time I was at a retreat in the Wenatchee National Forest in Washington... looked up just as I heard a roar coming through the valley to see a gorgeous Hornet banking about 200 feet over the water... come and gone in a blink... totally awesome!
This is definitely one of the best videos on here, great footage. My service assignment packet goes in next semester and I pray I get this. I'm already a multi-engine, instrument rated, commercial pilot...but nothing compares to flying like that.
As a previous member of the VFA-15 Valion maintainers, This video ROCKS! Its very inspiring, especially if your a maintainer. Seeing this video just made me miss the Valions "tear" lol.
"U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates wants more UAVs. Already he has said that the next generation of fighter planes -- the F-35 that took decades to develop at a cost of more than half-a-billion dollars each -- will be the last manned fighter aircraft."
I can understand why they made that decision. its such a shame, especially when you see a video like this.
Being diagnosed as a diabetic at age 14 pretty much destroyed my dreams to be a pilot in the military, so it's always a thrill to see video from people in the service. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the rest of us!
That name's familar and I know we've crossed paths, but can't place it. I will indeed be out in San Diego in September for my younger brother's wedding (also a Super Hornet pilot). Dad, uncle and Grandfather, all Naval Aviators, will be in attendance as well. Maybe we can do a group push to the Midway Museum!
He flies #2 with the Blues now, and his dad (Joe) was skipper of VF-2 when they first took Tomcats out. Joe's a docent at the museum too. My name's Dave, and if you're there on a Saturday, look me up! Also, I can get you tickets (limited number though).
wavefool. that nick reminds me of the music by village people..and the navy. great vid. navy folks need something else to be entertained...like dressing funny.

thanks for posting. How fast at the 2min mark and where were ya, if you still recall?
I enjoy some low level flying with my Lancair from time to time...but somehow, it just isn't quite as fast as that Hornet of yours ;)

Awesome! How low were you guys authed? ( 1:19....). I never got to go quite that low - 50ft in a TA-4 and 150ft in Hornets on maritime strike.
Makes me want to rejoin.

Oh wait I get it. Don't get confused by the "VFA-15" in the title - that's the Navy squadron. They are indeed flying F-18 Hornets.
mattsathomenow 2 years ago 2
Those r F-18's not F-15's.
mgwmw 2 years ago
Yeah ... I'm no expert but they look more like Hornets than Eagles to me.

wow... just few more years before these guys are flying regional jets out of nebraska....
