Ever wondered why Irish expats make a big deal of st patricks day in FORMER BRITISH COLONIES? Well I 'll tell you.. It's because if they didn't constantly remind people they were Irish everyone would just think they were British. And as you know, Irish People hate being called British in much the same way as Canadians hate being called yanks. The bottom line is Ireland has a huge chip on it's shoulder.
Because Britain raped Ireland of a lot of its culture and language and we still can't get the monkey off our back because of the situation up north.
The reason we might appear british is because of the language but if you have irish heritige, why deny it? I wouldn't like being called a yank or brit or anything bar irish, because that's what I am. England and the USA are good countries but you are what you are.
@ardeestephen100 You lot are obsessed with being victims aren't you? Britains been invaded numerous times. Do you hear British people going on about being 'raped'? As for the monkey on your back, I'm sure the British community love that! Whats the answer? Ethnic cleansing? Until you snap out of this fucking mindset there'll never be a united Ireland because it'll just be one massive blame game.
What do you want to hear toppaz79? Why would British people say anything about being raped? I don't care about being victims or anything like that. Just a fair crack. We have that now but for centuries we didn't, right up to the economic war and entry into the EU.
I've no problem with British people. I have friends from Britain and English cousins. They are surprised when I tell them about our past. They don't get educated.
We shud acknowledge the facts and move on, but you can't ignore things
@ardeestephen100 The problem with 'facts' about Irish history is that is very rarely comes from anything other than a nationalist perspective.
I think part of the peace process should be sorting out an official version of Irish History everyone can agree on and all the arm chair republicans can fuck off.
You should come down from your high horse. There is a clear bias and anti British-ness in Irish history that's clear, I've spoken to my English friends about this but even when you read English points of view(the stuff you guys don't learn in school) on Irish history it's a grim picture and you can see why what has happened did happen. The Irish were treated pretty badly in the past and walked all over.
English people are arrogant about "The Empire" too...there are other points of view too
@ardeestephen100 I'm on my high horse? I think I'm being pretty fair. Sorry to disappoint you but EVERYONE was treated badly in the past. Welsh, English, Scots and Irish. Life was cheap and the 'haves' could pretty much do what they wanted to the 'have nots'. There's nothing special about the way the Irish were treated. Maybe thats why it isn't taught in detail over here. But I get it's your countries history and you want people to be aware of it. Incidently..I am because my Grans from Mayo.
Ok, there are many points I can give you on this. Irish people had their land taken from them and this land was then given to British people, many times Scots(why do you think the accent is like it is in the North) most of the settlers were Scots.
We had a population of 8.5 mil in 1840. A million died and more emmigrated because the government of Peel were slow to do anything, instead saying the Irish were exaggerating how bad it was.
@ardeestephen100 Yeah I'm aware of the history. At the end of the day the famine was a potato blight. The British didn't CAUSE the famine they were just shit at dealing with it. And I'm sure there was an element of political opportunism too. Didn't they get looked after if they converted to church of Ireland? Rome sticking it's oar in eh? Interestingly a large number of Irish emigrated to England! Don't blame them.
theres no such thing as an english man anymore ,100 dif races all mixed up together ,soon all english will be fucking half casts or fgod knows what cast , and your fucking shit at football
fuck the english make me sick , look at that fucking english twats comments below , at least our country isnt fucking full of pakis that fuck all those dirty fucking english whores that suck cock as a hobby

That all you got , that one point ....cause i`ve got 800 years of points to throw back in your face, you silly fool.Go worship your queen and leave me be
And hey! Don't be dishing on Irish people and our cultures and customs. So what if we get drunk. You mean to tell me your culture doesn't? Thats what i thought. The irish are NOT red necks and kicks! Shut yo mouth before i take my bag pipe and slit ur fucking hill billy throat! Thank you and have a fucked up St. Patricks day. :)
and italians as mobsters... chinese as kung fu masters and japs as yokuza and germans as nazi's and french as pussies and... etc etc.. any more generalized statements?
a lot of people, well, yanks actually. love annoying people of other countrys in normal regular times, and on paddy's day this will not have changed in ANY way, shape or indeed form, on Saint Patrick's Day remember it is often more realistic to own a Full Valid IRISH Passport BEFORE you can pretend to be Irish.
in the 1st time in 22 years ''the simpsons'' will be broadcast on Saint Patrick's Day in another country before the united states, SKY 1 tv on digital pay satellite will brodcast an irish themed simsons episode on st Paddy's Day. [SKY 1 Ireland ] which means it will be on You Tube Shortly after ..
i cant believe u hav that view of youre own people...are you american-irish or born and raised in ireland cause that whole "shut up ya eejit ya" is a total cliche!!
how dare you... ireland is a beautiful country with so much proud heritage and unreal traditions!!! and we do like to drink and we do like to sing and have a fucking good time... so turn youre back on ireland if you want no one will miss you
I am in the Liberty Center marching band and we are marching in this parade on tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!! we leave for new york sunday! I am so flipping excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
two greatests countries in d world come together on paddys day ! the us and ireland rule ! st patricks day parade in newyork is better doh than dublin !!
i live in dublin and think its great st patricks day is celebrated all over the world.just goes to show how our tiny nation has had a big impact on the world and we can go anywhere in the world and be welcomed.ive been to america a few times with friends and people loved us.strangers buying us drinks in bars etc, it was great.when i hear of parades in NYC, beijing, tokyo, dubai etc it makes me proud, not annoyed that other people celebrate our day.just get drunk and have fun like we do in dublin!
exactly. we are one world, not seperate. we are supporting each other. quit worrying about another countries celebrating "your" holiday and enjoy it and get drunk.
it was a military thing from colonial days actually...theres a whole story you can look up on the history of the parade...i tried to cut and paste it for you but its too many characters.
The bagpipes (or the Irish War Pipe) originate in the Middle East and the were imported to Scotland from Ireland in the 400's with the Dalradians who invaded Argyle. The Gaels also brought with them their language, kilts and the clan system.
If the bagpipes aren't big in Ireland how come the best grade 1 band in the world for 2006 & 2007 is from there (you might want to get your facts straight!)
I know you're trying really hard to prove me wrong, or whatever, but I am, as a matter of fact, right. I mean, that's good for "the best grade 1 band in the world for 2006 & 2007" if they have a bagpiper, (whoever they are) but overall, the bagpipes aren't particularly common in a typical irish folk or traditional band.
I'm not trying to prove you wrong because you prove it yourself - you can't even write a sentence coherently. Plus I've got better things to do with my time. I bet you're not even from Ireland (American?!). I didn't say they were common in a typical irish folk band or traditional band - I said they arrived in Ireland before Scotland. I suggest you learn to read my comments before having a pop.
@hyperpiper1 the bagpipes are not an irish traditional instrument, however the uilleann pipes which are irish are! Yes of course it's possible that the bagpipes have been used in ireland before. what band uses bag pipes? you must be confused.
Ok Americans are not wise going out and celebrating an Irish Saints feast day but its ok it just shows how much they love Ireland and not England ahahah funny or what lol
actually, america has more irish living in it than ireland has itself. during the irish potato famine, thousands- maybe even millions- of irish came to america and have started family roots here. i know that i was the first generation born here on my dad's side and the second on my mom's side. ALL of my family on both sides, excluding some of my mom's generation, were born in ireland. PART 2 COMING IN NEXT COMMENT...
before you all go saying that this holiday can only be celebrated by the irish, wise up. we have more of your people living here than your whole country does. do we tell you that you can't celebrate thanksgiving- an american holiday? no! us americans celebrate this holiday for your people. i am proud to say that i am 100% irish and i will celebrate what ever holiday i want. in fact, i can march in the parade in nyc with my dad's hurling team or something like that. we got asked. (:
to the folks on here wondering why the parade has a lack of colour or floats, The first Saint patricks day parade in the late 1700's was held by irishman serving in the british army, stationed in New York. it was kept very military and formal. when some of these men stayed in New York upon disharge. they along with other homesick Irish immigrants kept the tradition, Some of the first Irish orders in the States wanted to use the parade to celebrate being irish-
I have my own opinions on the Northern Ireland situation (as an American with Irish born parents) but what I find interesting and predictably sad is the bullshit debates fought over websites...Everyone is a tough guy behind a keyboard...and its sad that so many videos...not just ones relating to Ireland, get twisted into political shouting matches via the strokes of a keyboard...
wtf why was one guy dressed up as an english soldier thingy, with the hat.. i tell you, americans who call themselves "irish", most of them, really dont know jack-shit about ireland, its history, or the troubles, all they "know" is to get drunk, and lepprachauns, pfft.... learn your actual history, not just whats in the bottom of a glass.. "irish" american my ass...
How am i a "hater" IM stating facts, most ""irish"" americans, dont know anything about their cultural history. All "they" do is celebrate st patricks day and get drunk. Great job!........ I have nothing against St paddies day, but really, to have a guy dressed up in an english-mans suit and wearing fucking strange outfits (not all of them), isnt cool. And why dont they have commemerations for the 1916 rising? IRA commemerations? OR is that too 'guerilla' or 'terrorist' for you? haha illinformed
hater ill inform you, there isnt one "english" hat there, some are ulster/ ulster-scot uniforms and irish flute bands from liverpool england. why the fuck would the 1916 rising be on? has nothing to do with st. paddy. IRA? are you wise? at a english saint parade? you would like to see terrorist marches? does that excite you?
I again tell you im a hater, you must be delusional, IRA arent terrorists, you must have been watching to much CNN or FOX news my friend. 1916 Rising has alot to do with Irish culture & history. Or dont you even know about it....... o_o? And "terrorist" marches doesnt excite me, it is a remmemberance of those who died for the cause, their people people and a one republic. Tiocfaidh ár lá my friend. Our day will come. Even if you fake-"irish" americans dont know or care about it.
you fucking arse hole, unlike you im in ulster co down, as my name says u ignorant fuck. the ra killed over 18 hundered people in there 30 year rein of terror, i know, i live it, u didnt. as far as "our day will come" evidentley not because it hasnt and never will. a icm report out today shows the i.r.a are gone, no money, inteligence, arms, support. even the republican comunity are not behind them anymore. ulster is still here. you know nothing about anything. it's very sad you try.
Your obviously a loyalist or are ill-informed, the IRA might be gone, why did "someone" do a bank robbery / bank robberies a few years back? (not before 98' peace treaty and 2005 IRA de-commisions) To secure that if they ever need to come back they can. And you say the IRA is gone? Sure what about the INLA CIRA PIRA and the RIRA and Oglaihh Na Heirann? Hm? The MI5 report THIS YEAR says that they are more dangerous than any so called muslim threat. Do your re-search, tard. as i said TAL
so just stick to what's happening in your country, plenty of shit isnt there? and keep you ignorant nose out of ulster's buisness. the dream of a 1 republic is a joke that people in 30 years wont belive was ever a dream. its over, F.G.A.U
Listen man why must you insult me? are you that imature? Jesus.. 'your country' the north is still my country. You must be loyalist, arent you? Even if you arent your blind to the fact, the republic is richer than the whole of the UK, lol, People in 30 years wont believe? Of course they wont they'll ask how did it happen! You still didnt answer my fucking question about the bank robbery, 26 million+ stolen, 2004, for IRA&SF. LOL!!!! You fail, hard. Ulsters business is irelands business too. TAL
Thats like being in Los angeles and asking someone from San fransisco to keep out of Californias business, its the same difference you ILL-INFUCKINGFORMED. TARD. All you can do is insult me, And the 'dream' isnt a dream really, Loyalist majority is a thing of the PAST. TARD. FAIL again my friend, And you didnt answer about the other "terrorist" groups, and you FAILED to acknowledge that MI5 takes the IRISH terrorist threat more serious than any muslim one. You utterly FAIL, go spit elsewhere TAL
And the real loyalists, oops did i say loyalists i meant terrorists, same difference man! Are the UVF, LVF, etc who associate with NEO NAZI gangs like Combat 18. Haha, go get a clue, 800 years of opression and each and every generation rises up against the english, except for you loyalist cunts. Fuck off back across the water if you dont LIKE ireland. Its not ULSTER its IRELAND. WHO CARES ABOUT THE COUNTY ITS THE COUNTRY THAT MATTERS. T-A-L our day will come Struggle continues. English dickrider
actrualy do some home work ulster is still mainly loyalist british, according to every sensus that why the d.u.p is first party, "tard" as far as mi5 taking the i.r.a for of a threat than any muslim group, your talking about the HOMELAND review, wich was before the icm and a million other think tank results that all show the i.r.a is nothing now but a dream, a surrended terrorist group. like it or not ulster is still here exactly the same as 50 years ago, and as far as "800 years of oppresion">>
And finally to utterly crush your queen-tit sucking ass into the ground, no offence or pun intended. Haha, You really think that if a united ireland doesnt come around in a about, say, 5 - 10 years The same IRA guys that put their guns down, wont pick them right up again? You do know the IRA made ceasfires, in the past, and then stopped the ceasfires with a bomb, or a bullet. If talking doesnt work, load up the AK-47s and Grenades my friend. And no offence, just wake up and smell the irish air!
pick up there guns? lol , they have no guns and no funding, they decomissioned you ignorant fuck, the lost all there funding from south africa and the middle east after the atrocity that murdered women and children at the rememberence day parade. they can never reform, EVERYBODY knows this. the "26 million +" is worthless to them seeing as the northern bank changed the print of the money, so it cant be spent! haha, keep up mate, the money they stole is worthless, its a joke they burt it!
Just because you dont see it on the news, doesnt mean "they" arent there. And if you asked many families of the republican / irish community, it would be a divided opinion. Also because sinn feinn brain-washes many, i mean you (irish rebublicans) think that SF will get you/us a United Ireland? While sucking the dick of DUP & british council, just to get on policing? How stupid you are. And to codownni, chill i havent insulted you, except for the previous post. Anyway, peace man.
the i.r.a are gone, everyone here knows this. the republican community fully acknoledge this, the i.r.a/republican terror groups are r.i.p, except for the inla wich are a joke because they now cant even get funding from south africa. they have nothing. unlike the loyalist provos who still havnt decomishended. it isnt a divided opinion by anyone i.r.a r.i.p 2005. even sinn fein wont try for a united ireland for AT LEAST a quater of a century. im not a irish republican you wanna-be turd.
how can it be a "opression" when the MAJORITY of people here want ulster to remain part of the u.k? and in any democracy the majority wins. the republican dream is over and done, surrendered and forgotten, joked about even. its over. And all it took was to get a couple of leading nationlist's on the BRITISH pay-roll, haha. but make your little ignorant and foolish reply short mate, i dont feel like entertaining your little republican bollocks much longer, you have no idea what your talking about
it must really annoy you to go abroad and have people assume that you have a knowledge of irish culture and traditions just because you were born on this island. ha ha ha ha ha ha na na na na na na. it must be really annoying to be you.you dirty NIGGER!!!!!!! ps obama rules.. please write back to me. it'll mean so much to me to delete your comment without reading it.. pps ha ha ha ha ha ha na na na na na na
wow.....seems your proud that the irish parade is more multicultural than the new york one....are you now a supporter of irish multicultuaralism icollins.....and as someone who has marched in the dublin parade and been to the new york one for the last 5 yrs.....your talking out of your skinny bum
ha ha in ireland its so much more relaxed everyone is really drunk and for sum reason its always way more colourful than this but the yanks did a gr8 job too
I absolutely love being an Irish American especially with the parade to celebrate our ancestry. I've never been to the huge parade in N.Y.C even though I live in New York state but hopefully I'll go sometime in the near future.
you should see the dublin parade. lot more colour, music( not all bag pipes)and dancing! wheres the energy in this parade? New York might have the biggest St patricks parade in the world but Dublin's is the most fun to watch! and thats what matters!
You need to add more floats, more dancers, more crowds, more GREEN and less scotsmen playing bagpipes, and THEN you will have an irish paddys day parade! It was nice hearing them play Sean South from Garryowen though.. check out our parade and you'll see what a paddys day parade is!
Given that it was Irish Americans that got the Yanks involved in Vietnam, specifically Kennedy and Macnamara, and Lt Calley was responsible for the Mai Lai massacre and Nixon was guilty of spreading the war to Cambodia and Laos perhaps these parades should raise money for the victims of agent Orange and napalm.Happy St.Patricks day!
Even though St. Patricks day is a very Irish tradition its also about a city or town, any city or town having a day that parades and celebrates the different organisations, societies and people that make up that city or town like the police force, fire dept, defence force, cultural societies etc. So even if it has an Irish history everyone can participate and should cos its really a celebration of the community you live in no matter who you are especially if that community is diverse
jealousy will get you nowhere, the scots gave up centuries ago!! let irish decendents be proud of their heritage by being irish for one day!!Let people march & be proud of their ancestors, the scots can always take the braveheart dvd out & watch it & dream
It's great to see that Irish culture is surviving somewhere - it certainly isnt in Ireland anymore. Mass immigration into Ireland over the past decade or so has seen the population swell to nearly 4.5 million people. Over 650,000 of the population is now from an immigrant or non-irish background. With prosperity comes the death of Ireland as i'm sure most Americans would recognise it from old. Come visit us before it's too late, our culture is becoming more and more diluted as each year passes.
I am so proud to be an Irish American! The cool thing about all of the police in the parade is almost all of them are Irish American same with the Firemen. I really want to go to Ireland someday since like you said I heard that the truely Irish culture is getting watered down. I think thats soo sad since I'm sure the way I picture Ireland isn't exactly the way it is anymore.
Fight for you culture "petersdfl", Ireland is being used as a dumping ground by the E.U. of course, I think a lot of Irish people are waking up to that fact. Type in (pcscz), on you tube and check out some great videos.
Also-- wacIRELAND(dot)org or wearechangeireland (on you tube) great videos. Vote no on the Lisbon treaty, get out of the "big brother" E.U., while you still have some freedom left. UP THE IRISH!
Everyone likes the Irish. its a country that has overcome many hardships.
And its because of the english stole part of Ireland that no one likes them.
until there is a united Ireland. no one will like the english and seeing that im from the North of Ireland and i support the Republic. its a simple fact that england really holds the minority of our country
Tiocaidh ar la to ya. and may that owl hag fall of of her chair
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why is it you can be 'Irish American' or 'Italian American' but not 'English American'. And why celebrate when hardly any attending were born in Ireland. What is it about that overt nationalism and Irishness?
people just really like our culture, heritage and people. We're just a likeable people thats all. Besides everyone likes a party and noone throws a better party than the irish!
This is Scottish. So why on earth is on an Irish holiday in the US!? lol

a lot of people, well, yanks actually. love annoying people of other countrys in normal regular times, and on paddy's day this will not have changed in ANY way, shape or indeed form, on Saint Patrick's Day remember it is often more realistic to own a Full Valid IRISH Passport BEFORE you can pretend to be Irish.

The bagpipes (or the Irish War Pipe) originate in the Middle East and the were imported to Scotland from Ireland in the 400's with the Dalradians who invaded Argyle. The Gaels also brought with them their language, kilts and the clan system.
smamrox 3 years ago
Actually, the bagpipes aren't so big in Ireland at all. The uilleann pipes are used a lot more in Irish trad and folk music.
itsameMARIO94 2 years ago 2
If the bagpipes aren't big in Ireland how come the best grade 1 band in the world for 2006 & 2007 is from there (you might want to get your facts straight!)
hyperpiper1 2 years ago
I know you're trying really hard to prove me wrong, or whatever, but I am, as a matter of fact, right. I mean, that's good for "the best grade 1 band in the world for 2006 & 2007" if they have a bagpiper, (whoever they are) but overall, the bagpipes aren't particularly common in a typical irish folk or traditional band.
itsameMARIO94 2 years ago
I'm not trying to prove you wrong because you prove it yourself - you can't even write a sentence coherently. Plus I've got better things to do with my time. I bet you're not even from Ireland (American?!). I didn't say they were common in a typical irish folk band or traditional band - I said they arrived in Ireland before Scotland. I suggest you learn to read my comments before having a pop.
hyperpiper1 2 years ago
@hyperpiper1 the bagpipes are not an irish traditional instrument, however the uilleann pipes which are irish are! Yes of course it's possible that the bagpipes have been used in ireland before. what band uses bag pipes? you must be confused.

actually, america has more irish living in it than ireland has itself. during the irish potato famine, thousands- maybe even millions- of irish came to america and have started family roots here. i know that i was the first generation born here on my dad's side and the second on my mom's side. ALL of my family on both sides, excluding some of my mom's generation, were born in ireland. PART 2 COMING IN NEXT COMMENT...

before you all go saying that this holiday can only be celebrated by the irish, wise up. we have more of your people living here than your whole country does. do we tell you that you can't celebrate thanksgiving- an american holiday? no! us americans celebrate this holiday for your people. i am proud to say that i am 100% irish and i will celebrate what ever holiday i want. in fact, i can march in the parade in nyc with my dad's hurling team or something like that. we got asked. to the folks on here wondering why the parade has a lack of colour or floats, The first Saint patricks day parade in the late 1700's was held by irishman serving in the british army, stationed in New York. it was kept very military and formal. when some of these men stayed in New York upon disharge. they along with other homesick Irish immigrants kept the tradition, Some of the first Irish orders in the States wanted to use the parade to celebrate being irish-
idontknowmylogin 3 years ago
The military decorum was kept as a rule to show the soldier spirit of the irish in the face of the 17th and 18th century British rule

codownni 3 years ago
How am i a "hater" IM stating facts, most ""irish"" americans, dont know anything about their cultural history. All "they" do is celebrate st patricks day and get drunk. Great job!........ I have nothing against St paddies day, but really, to have a guy dressed up in an english-mans suit and wearing fucking strange outfits (not all of them), isnt cool. And why dont they have commemerations for the 1916 rising? IRA commemerations? OR is that too 'guerilla' or 'terrorist' for you? haha illinformed
conr16 3 years ago
hater ill inform you, there isnt one "english" hat there, some are ulster/ ulster-scot uniforms and irish flute bands from liverpool england. why the fuck would the 1916 rising be on? has nothing to do with st. paddy. IRA? are you wise? at a english saint parade? you would like to see terrorist marches? does that excite you?
codownni 3 years ago
I again tell you im a hater, you must be delusional, IRA arent terrorists, you must have been watching to much CNN or FOX news my friend. 1916 Rising has alot to do with Irish culture & history. Or dont you even know about it....... o_o? And "terrorist" marches doesnt excite me, it is a remmemberance of those who died for the cause, their people people and a one republic. Tiocfaidh ár lá my friend. Our day will come. Even if you fake-"irish" americans dont know or care about it.
conr16 3 years ago
you fucking arse hole, unlike you im in ulster co down, as my name says u ignorant fuck. the ra killed over 18 hundered people in there 30 year rein of terror, i know, i live it, u didnt. as far as "our day will come" evidentley not because it hasnt and never will. a icm report out today shows the i.r.a are gone, no money, inteligence, arms, support. even the republican comunity are not behind them anymore. ulster is still here. you know nothing about anything. it's very sad you try.
codownni 3 years ago
Your obviously a loyalist or are ill-informed, the IRA might be gone, why did "someone" do a bank robbery / bank robberies a few years back? (not before 98' peace treaty and 2005 IRA de-commisions) To secure that if they ever need to come back they can. And you say the IRA is gone? Sure what about the INLA CIRA PIRA and the RIRA and Oglaihh Na Heirann? Hm? The MI5 report THIS YEAR says that they are more dangerous than any so called muslim threat. Do your re-search, tard. as i said TAL
conr16 3 years ago
so just stick to what's happening in your country, plenty of shit isnt there? and keep you ignorant nose out of ulster's buisness. the dream of a 1 republic is a joke that people in 30 years wont belive was ever a dream. its over, F.G.A.U
codownni 3 years ago
Listen man why must you insult me? are you that imature? Jesus.. 'your country' the north is still my country. You must be loyalist, arent you? Even if you arent your blind to the fact, the republic is richer than the whole of the UK, lol, People in 30 years wont believe? Of course they wont they'll ask how did it happen! You still didnt answer my fucking question about the bank robbery, 26 million+ stolen, 2004, for IRA&SF. LOL!!!! You fail, hard. Ulsters business is irelands business too. TAL
conr16 3 years ago
Thats like being in Los angeles and asking someone from San fransisco to keep out of Californias business, its the same difference you ILL-INFUCKINGFORMED. TARD. All you can do is insult me, And the 'dream' isnt a dream really, Loyalist majority is a thing of the PAST. TARD. FAIL again my friend, And you didnt answer about the other "terrorist" groups, and you FAILED to acknowledge that MI5 takes the IRISH terrorist threat more serious than any muslim one. You utterly FAIL, go spit elsewhere TAL
conr16 3 years ago
And the real loyalists, oops did i say loyalists i meant terrorists, same difference man! Are the UVF, LVF, etc who associate with NEO NAZI gangs like Combat 18. Haha, go get a clue, 800 years of opression and each and every generation rises up against the english, except for you loyalist cunts. Fuck off back across the water if you dont LIKE ireland. Its not ULSTER its IRELAND. WHO CARES ABOUT THE COUNTY ITS THE COUNTRY THAT MATTERS. T-A-L our day will come Struggle continues. English dickrider
conr16 3 years ago 2
actrualy do some home work ulster is still mainly loyalist british, according to every sensus that why the d.u.p is first party, "tard" as far as mi5 taking the i.r.a for of a threat than any muslim group, your talking about the HOMELAND review, wich was before the icm and a million other think tank results that all show the i.r.a is nothing now but a dream, a surrended terrorist group. like it or not ulster is still here exactly the same as 50 years ago, and as far as "800 years of oppresion">>
codownni 3 years ago
And finally to utterly crush your queen-tit sucking ass into the ground, no offence or pun intended. Haha, You really think that if a united ireland doesnt come around in a about, say, 5 - 10 years The same IRA guys that put their guns down, wont pick them right up again? You do know the IRA made ceasfires, in the past, and then stopped the ceasfires with a bomb, or a bullet. If talking doesnt work, load up the AK-47s and Grenades my friend. And no offence, just wake up and smell the irish air!
conr16 3 years ago
pick up there guns? lol , they have no guns and no funding, they decomissioned you ignorant fuck, the lost all there funding from south africa and the middle east after the atrocity that murdered women and children at the rememberence day parade. they can never reform, EVERYBODY knows this. the "26 million +" is worthless to them seeing as the northern bank changed the print of the money, so it cant be spent! haha, keep up mate, the money they stole is worthless, its a joke they burt it!
codownni 3 years ago
Just because you dont see it on the news, doesnt mean "they" arent there. And if you asked many families of the republican / irish community, it would be a divided opinion. Also because sinn feinn brain-washes many, i mean you (irish rebublicans) think that SF will get you/us a United Ireland? While sucking the dick of DUP & british council, just to get on policing? How stupid you are. And to codownni, chill i havent insulted you, except for the previous post. Anyway, peace man.
conr16 3 years ago
the i.r.a are gone, everyone here knows this. the republican community fully acknoledge this, the i.r.a/republican terror groups are r.i.p, except for the inla wich are a joke because they now cant even get funding from south africa. they have nothing. unlike the loyalist provos who still havnt decomishended. it isnt a divided opinion by anyone i.r.a r.i.p 2005. even sinn fein wont try for a united ireland for AT LEAST a quater of a century. im not a irish republican you wanna-be turd.
codownni 3 years ago
how can it be a "opression" when the MAJORITY of people here want ulster to remain part of the u.k? and in any democracy the majority wins. the republican dream is over and done, surrendered and forgotten, joked about even. its over. you should see the dublin parade. lot more colour, music( not all bag pipes)and dancing! wheres the energy in this parade? New York might have the biggest St patricks parade in the world but Dublin's is the most fun to watch! and thats what matters!

You need to add more floats, more dancers, more crowds, more GREEN and less scotsmen playing bagpipes, and THEN you will have an irish paddys day parade! It was nice hearing them play Sean South from Garryowen though.. check out our parade and you'll see what a paddys day parade is!

Given that it was Irish Americans that got the Yanks involved in Vietnam, specifically Kennedy and Macnamara, and Lt Calley was responsible for the Mai Lai massacre and Nixon was guilty of spreading the war to Cambodia and Laos perhaps these parades should raise money for the victims of agent Orange and napalm.Happy St.Patricks day!
shahblah07 3 years ago
Even though St. Patricks day is a very Irish tradition its also about a city or town, any city or town having a day that parades and celebrates the different organisations, societies and people that make up that city or town like the police force, fire dept, defence force, cultural societies etc. So even if it has an Irish history everyone can participate and should cos its really a celebration of the community you live in no matter who you are especially if that community is diverse

OnionHead1988 4 years ago
It's great to see that Irish culture is surviving somewhere - it certainly isnt in Ireland anymore. Mass immigration into Ireland over the past decade or so has seen the population swell to nearly 4.5 million people. Over 650,000 of the population is now from an immigrant or non-irish background. With prosperity comes the death of Ireland as i'm sure most Americans would recognise it from old. Come visit us before it's too late, our culture is becoming more and more diluted as each year passes.
PETERSDFL178965 4 years ago
I am so proud to be an Irish American! The cool thing about all of the police in the parade is almost all of them are Irish American same with the Firemen. I really want to go to Ireland someday since like you said I heard that the truely Irish culture is getting watered down. I think thats soo sad since I'm sure the way I picture Ireland isn't exactly the way it is anymore.
