  • @themusicdr, i collected round about 100 different recordings.

  • @S0NNABEND thanks once again for taking the time to share them w us

  • Wow. Thanks for posting this.

  • 懐かしい音です。幼少時より、私は彼の音楽に馴染んで育ちました。今も、時々、レコードを聴いています。アップロードいただき感謝いたします。

    合掌。

  • We have probably the best interpretation of bach chaconne by the best violonist.

When was it recorded? The date is very important.

  • The recording was done in the early 1920s, i guess 1923, or 1928, don't know exactly. Why do you ask?

  • Adolph Busch was one of the all time greatest violinist and leader of the Busch Quartet. Some of the recordings are still available on CDs. I highly recommend the Busch Quartet recording of Schubert's Death and the Maiden Quartet. The sound is from 78 RPM records but cleans up nicely on CD. Thanks for posting this.

  • Holy shit. I think I just found the best bach's chaconne I've yet heard.

  • Thanks for posting and for rescuing a masterpiece from oblivion!

  • This is very good, I enjoyed it a lot. Certainly a great deal of emotional depth in his playing, which is surprisingly rare amongst violinists these days.

  • Thanks for this rarity! Brothers Adoph & Fritz made quite the splash in the '30,and '40's. Adolph had quite the ego--he used to sit in a platform above the othjer 3 players when he played string quartets! A beautifully spaced and insightful Chaconne.

  • Actually there were 3 brothers originally a piano trio, performing in Stuttgart, and Adolf was more famous as the greatest teacher of the purist movement, Auer being that for Eastern Europe. And he was very humble, when he toured with his most famous young protege, Menuhin, Busch kept his prices low for greater audiance participation, Menuhin charged many times more as a child performer. My grandfather was Busch's pupil.

  • I collect all kinds of records, but not classical. You might be horrified to hear that a collector wanted to give me several hundred classical 78s for free but I turned them down. Salvation Army came to pick them up. I wouldn't know which ones are rare. At first, like all beginners, I once thought the 1-sided Carusoes were worth something, heh...

  • Wow, that is rare. Thanks for posting.
