  • Nice.

  • im from east boston =) the only people who still talk like that are the old school italians.

  • Love Boston!

  • It's the closest American accent to an Australian accent

  • this dialogue is effin' classic! hahaha. I love being from MA

  • I'm English, but this sounds American to me

  • FUCKIN LOVE IT! boston pride

  • yeah thats it fucki reeetaaaahd pretty good

  • The is fuckin perfect haha

  • @Tarn1968 and the best accent

  • sooooooooo basically peter griffin?

  • Best Boston accent I've heard on YT.

  • Brad Delp FTW

  • Ok I'm sorry, but you just can't fake a Boston accent, this sounds sooo forced.

Lol no offense it just sounds more New York

  • Finally, a good example of one of the eastern Massachusetts accents, though it is really more like the one from South Boston than a Boston City-proper. (I grew up in the Peoples Republic of Brookline). Many of the dialect's sounds descend for the English spoken in East Anglia, England (Norfolk, Suffolk, etc. - look at the town names). One big change is that people from Greater Boston speak faster than anyone in the US (really, it has been studied and measured).

  • so the Boston acent sounds like italian american....but a bit more retarded then usual`?

  • theres no way this guy isnt from MA because thats the most accurate I can find on youtube

  • lol his accent his weak, you should hear my husband, everyone says wow I love your accent where are you from on the east coast, he says franklin mass, they love him here in utah! he has the worst time saying his r's

  • what i really like in bostonians is :

1-They don't wear shoes , they wear BOOTS..!!

    2- They don't drink in a cup , they drink in a MUG ..!!,

3-They don't like espresso , they prefer the american BLACK COFFE ..!!

so .. if you ever see a guy wearing a boots , drinking american black coffee in a mug.. you've got to know the guy is bostonian.#LOL

  • I wonder if the similarity to a British accent is because it was area settled by English, Scottish and Irish people in Early America. The Californians sound nothing like Brits but Bostonians clearly do.

  • @shahideurope yup, it is. That's where our country started --- in New England. So the New Englanders sound the closest to the Brits, not pronouncing their R's and all.

  • boston forget people who hate boston

  • @Tarn1968 That's what every city thinks. That's also why I hate Boston. "Everything about our city is better than yours!" Fucking jerks. Please, don't respond.

  • um im from boston and are accent is stronger than dat but sounds good!

  • IMO, the movie with the best portrayal of the accent was Gone Baby Gone starring Casey Affleck. Perfection.

  • South Shoah heah!

Some wicked cool comments heah - and some that'ah just retahded.

  • Greetings from Boston MA

  • haha this shits legit.

  • Strongly disagree with the "artistic" "autistic" comment. In Boston those two words are not pronounced the same. "Autistic" is pronounced exactly how it is spelled. "Artistic" is pronounced "ahh-tistic". Like when you are at the dentist, open up and say "aaah"

  • Wicked Awesome! Man that accent makes me feel at home...

  • @Tarn1968 i live in somerville cool

  • yooo.........dorchester mann!!!!!!!

  • this is facking mothafacking good

  • I did not realise Boston had such a distinctive accent it's like australian and Irish and American mixed together

  • I'm from Boston...and I swear I'd just had this conversation with my brother.

  • if you come a bit further west to Leominster it sounds like this with a slight hint of New Jersey

  • It sounds Australian.

  • @MissTerrify1 lol no it doesn't!

  • I love this!

  • greetings from boston

  • greeting fron allston ma

  • i'm born and raised in boston. but my accent isn't so heavy like that. If ur from Southy then yeah they put it on thick. i notice that when i get upset my accent comes out pretty strong. lol

  • nope sorry buddy your trying too hard. Just a little less emphasis and it will be good.

  • BAAAWWWWSTON

  • Lol i like the small story youd did good, Sounds like a few people i know lmao

  • boston sucks! boston accent what the hell are you doing!!!

  • @atfatw boston is one of the best cities in america. just like nyc, but without the crowd. just because no one can have YOUR accent doesn't mean you can make fun of others.

  • @atfatw Boston is amazing.

  • @Nicole3900 yeah and just why is it amazing whats the job situation? are there any nice quality ethnic restaurants what about apartments and Single Room Occupancy what are crime statistics

  • @atfatw Many, many wonderful ethnic restaurants.

It is not a dangerous or crime ridden city.

I don't understand your questions about apartments and Single Room Occupancy.

  • @astanhope in an ideal city where everyone is accomadated the poor must live in Single Room Occupancy rooms or apartments places like San Fran have no SRO only upper middle class and rich people can live there what about cheers beantown?

  • Boston: Car=Cahh/Beer=Bear lol cool :]

  • @cheer4liferock Lmfao same. Holy.

  • i myself am from boston and you basically nailed it. great job

  • that was actually wicked good, most people on youtube screw this accent over

  • that was really good

  • man i lived in Massachusetts for 15 years...How I miss it. I feel like I'm losing my accent.

  • @happycompy no offense but you boton peple sound like fags... like the worst american accent there is..... IT JUST makes yousound lazy and like your talking with slang and not proper english

  • @llHyRaXll haha no the Jersey accent is fuckin gay...all it is, is a fuckin mix between the Boston accent, a New Yorkers accent, and a little Italian...it's fuckin whack...fuckin posers

  • @llHyRaXll Despite the fact the Boston accent is similar to original English and still has more sounds and rules then most the southern american accents for example. learn 2 English.

  • @xOmniCloudx english accent sounds nice but boston and new york sounds arrogant and annoying and loud

  • @truenorthcorn yes (: we people from Boston are very rude :)

  • Good job you from mass? Im from plymouth

  • The Boston accent is actually more difficult to understand for a Brit than the average American accent. The Boston accent sounds a lot more Irish than British.

  • Boston accent rocks! Woo!

    Greetings from Norway

  • It has a hint of scouse (Liverpudlian) accent with a bit of Australian. I remember seeing the news about a mining accident in one of the North East states last year and was surprised at how the local accent had many qualities that you hear in some of the British accents. I thought by now they would have been diluted. On the flip side valley speak has drifted across the Atlantic. So many people "Like" and "You know"

  • Perfectly done, and funny as hell.

  • nice lol laughed my ass off cause you got all the slang right lol

  • there is no "British" accent!

  • hahah nice! i like how for the Boston accent theres a ton of swearing. thats wicked funny

  • is it true bostonians are very rude?

  • @truenorthcorn yeah some are some aren't. i live here so i should know

  • nice vid bro!real good accent, and thanks for pointing it out that being british helps :)

  • Wicked good job! I can't wait to go home this summer. :(

  • sounds australian

  • I Grew up there. Perfect accent. A tv director could make a 30 minute comedy show in the tale he spins in 1:33.

This guy is 'the man" when it comes to the Boston Accent.

  • boston accents are so sexy to me

  • People on boston say like a lot I guess. Love the accent though especially on girls hot as hell!

  • The Boston accent in this video is rather well done. I lived the first 42 years of my life either in Boston (11 years) or inside the Route 128 belt (24 years) or inside 495 (7 years). The Boston accent can vary by neighborhood and also the age of the speaker. Also, older Bostonians pronounce certain words differently. I now live outside Mass and I'm proud of my Boston accent. I feel no need to change it. There is no "right" accent. Listen to the BBC and you'll hear diversity across the globe.

  • im from boston!

  • "bang a Uee"

    that's awesome!

  • While your impression was done pretty well (and you even included the weird 'w' sound in Burlington), you forgot about linking and intrusive R's (that is, actually pronouncing the R when a vowel begins the next word). For example, if you were to say "we got in the car and", you would actually pronounce the R in "car" because "and" begins with an A. That's the linking R. Intrusive is when there was no R to begin with, but you put one there anyway ("the idear of it is..."). Good impression though.

  • HAHAHAHA I am from Boston and this is DEAD ON!

  • ha i talk like that my frtiends make fun of me and call me retahded. But they all have new york accents.??? weird...

  • I've been lost driving thru there many times

  • @ArtyLama greetings from boston :) ima pak my caaa in your wifes vagina asshole get the fuck away from my dawta or ill put you unda wata

  • @mikesandytoes Baaahaaaaahahahahaha!!!

  • Not bad at all... "B(w)rulington League": nice.

  • you have a good ear. first one to pick that out.

  • yo wanna hear a wicked deep bawsten accent, hang out faw a minute in doutie at da bahs aww awdah a pizza at papa ginos in meffa

  • The best part about the Boston area is that if a mother says her son is 'autistic', what she really means is that her son is 'ARTistic'...which is a GOOD thing. :p

  • Not quite...AR doesn't turn into AW, just a long A sound.

  • Well thanks for ruining my already crappy joke, Mr. Linguistics-man! :p

  • @adamcharney So true..... so true....

  • @adamcharney Nope, that's NY. In Boston it would be Ahtistic with most of the h coming out of your nose.

  • @purps45 I try to make sure I don't let any 'h' come out of my nose. That's embarrassing in public. lol

  • i had a boson accent but when i moved i lost it

  • @HOCKEYPAINTBALLER27 same here brotha

  • legit

  • Haha I have a Boston accent, and this isn't perfect but you did a pretty good job, but next time we Bostonians traditionally add "wicked" in front of all ahh Adjectives c:

    this is fantastic man, thanks.

  • yeah, Boastan.

  • Boston and NYC accents do not make people sound uneducated but southern accents do for sure. Esp from south carolina and those states.

  • ha, i catch myself talking with this kind of accent some times because both my mother and my father are from Boston, and they still have there thick accents

  • fucking hilarious, arties acting like a fucking retaad

  • geez this accent is alot harder to pull off than i thought! lol

  • I love it! So much better than New Yorkers. And it was spoken so well, those sweet polite Bostonians lol! They sound so rude even though they really aren't...

  • i live near boston and i dnt have that accent and i was born near it too.....but im 75% french canadian which could be why ...

  • 8-4

  • fuck all you people that think you're better than us just because we have a boston accent. so we dont pronounce our words fully. all well. fuck you. who cares.

I PAHK MY CAH IN HAHVARD YAHD.

    fuck you.

    go red sox.

  • I grew up in New York, in the Bronx, in a ghetto and I can pronounce words fully and intelligibly and don't sound like a 'retahd", so there is no excuse for speaking like one. No one ever guesses I am from New York and I am proud of that.

  • guess what. Your a little bitch! RetAARRRRRRRRRRRRD

  • Your mother is a bitch, I know, I fucked her. What a milf!!

  • You dont have the money to find my mother cause your an intelligent fuck from the ghetto.

  • to the person from NY boasting about not having an accent. That means you have a generic American accent.... and those are the worst of all. Flat, bland, nasally and by far, the most annoying accents out there... right next to Wisconsin. I love listening to regional accents, especially Boston but I like New York as well. They have a richness and personality to them. The average American accent is awful.

  • Ummm.... Maybe you misinterpreted my post but I said I am proud to be able to say Coufee instead of Cawfee and Park, instead of Pahk. You might think generic accents are boring but that's your opinion. I love hearing people compliment me on not sounding ghetto (yes, I said it) and not saying "axe" instead of ask. For a latino, that is a great accomplishment and hearing all my life from blacks and other latinos, "you sound white" at first bothered me but can now brag that I speak proper.

  • I'm talking about accents. You don't need to neutralize your accent to use proper grammar. The use of "ax" and "supposably" are just incorrect and sound terrible and uneducated. But I don't think a New York or Boston accent makes a person sound uneducated at all.

  • You say that having a New YOrk accent doesn't sound uneducated, but you also say that saying "axe" instead of "ask" is uneducated? Those that say "axe" HAVE a bronx accent, because they can't pronounce the "s" sound in ASK. The ones who say "Pahk" is because they can't or refuse to pronounce the R in PARK. I grew up in the poorest of ghettos and speak proper english and can enunciate. I know from experience that those who speak like that are afraid of being taunted for sounding too white.

  • i think you're confusing 'ghetto' with NY. First off, NY accents are not ghetto; they're NY and 'blue-collar', working-class accents. but even the upper crust Upper East Siders have NY accents, but not working class. Ghetto is different, like 'axe' for ask, and 'ma'HA'en for manHATten. I speak english real well, sound like a NYer, and don't sound ghetto. big diff.

  • nah that NY accent sounds ghetto as hell.

  • get the fuck outta here you fucken Chitcaca TWAT..you're a pussy troll, trolling around youtube...you're a douche from chitcago and you know it, southside fuck...quit typing shit straight outta your ass you ghetto nit.

  • speak english ya NY DOUCHE BAG

  • i WAS typing english you ignorant twat...it's cause you're a ghetto bitch from a mid-west lard-ass town like Chitcagando is why you can't understand..."Nit"=YOU, resident Chitcago SCHMUCK!

  • huh? take that shit out of your mouth i dont understand what you're sayin.

  • you sure heard what i said, faggot....maybe you need to get the fuck out of your wetback-filled slum-town and clean the wax out of your fucken pointed ears. better yet, let Chit-town keep clowns like you there...better for everyone else in the States.

  • what was that NY douche bag? u got too much shit pouring outta ya mouth talk to me when u clean that shit out & talk normal.

  • nigga, please nigga...yooo tooo en--veee-usssss....at the very least we sound like city people, at the very most we don't sound like open-mouthed arrrgh arrrgh fahhrrrm boys like you....i think your cow-town needs to add some decent curricula to its "educational system" to teach your little ghetto punks how not to be gang-banging wild chimpanzees, silly fag.

  • nah u new yorkers sound like shit for brains & shit in yall mouths. at least we Chicagoans talk with some intelligence & sense.

  • Hahaha...intelligence and sense: do you mean like your former governor Bogoyevitch's or Steve Bartman's intelligence and sense? Wait, you must mean like common street thugs and kid-killers like the monkeys that killed the young teen...sense like those chicagoans. Twat, I get it now. Thanks for enlightening me.

  • what was that NY lame? i thought u cleaned that shit out of your mouth. maybe u need to see one of our Chicago dentists to clean that shit out cause we are more professional here.
