@Allen10579 Yes,,,more experience with Methadone than could ever think. Allen, Im not against you but rather against a drug which is worse the Herion itself. I personally know that if a personhappened to be locked up,, he will detox from Herion in 3 to 5 days, according to how severe his usage was. But if a man gets locked up and lets say he is on 80 miligrams of Methadone, he will be detox very hard for a couple weeks. Plus the addict is allowed to up his own dose by simple asking, thats sick.
@woodrowpass Another thing, Methadone builds up in the system, so after you have been taking it for a little while, you can miss up to two days with out feeling like crap, I've got a little more news for ya, Heroin withdrawls can last like 6 weeks, not 3 to 5 days. and they can kill you, at least methadone people are monitored, piss tested once a week, see a dr all the time, and you start coming down slowly when you are ready, and why is it sick for the addict to want to up his dose? cont>

Heroin withdrawals last 3-5 days though text books say up to 7 days. Lasting effects like depression from lacking enough natural mood boosting opiates can last 6 months or more. Methadone withdrawal is what lasts up to 6 weeks though I've had friends who claim jumping off doses over 60mg took them 6 months to get over. Amy was a Speed Fiend anyway

@woodrowpass Medically I think you did it the right way. Do they have Buprenorphine (Subutex) there? That's much easier to get off than Methadone. Wow, $15 per day? It's $5 per day here though I know one lovely old man who dispenses it from his chemist (pharmacy) for $1 per day. You are much stronger than I am. I never lasted more than 4 days on a 'cold turkey' withdrawal. I really admire what you did for those 80 days! For me it was always stuff up, wean off legal substitues, stuff up, repeat.
@woodrowpass The addict asks for his dose to be raised because he is not on the proper dose yet so that he doesn't get dope sick through the night, Methadone DOES NOT get you high, repeat DOES NOT GET YOU HIGH! also once you are on a decent dose say between 60 and 80 mgs there is an opiate blocker in it, so like it or not, if you are on methadone and on the proper dose you can't get high on anything that is opiate, I can say 100% that I would be dead right now if not for Methadone.
@Allen10579 There's no opiate blocker. Methadone doses above 60mg or so just boosts your opiate tolerance so high you can't afford to buy enough smack to get you high. If you could afford to buy enough, it would turn to sludge & take more than a standard 1ml syringe to dilute/inject, which would be a buzz killer. I know a guy who spent $1500 before he could feel a hit once. He had a big work payout & a 195ml per day methadone script. Methadone CAN get you TRASHED if you keep raising the dose.
@woodrowpass Everything you say is true. My teenage sweetheart or "baby daddy" as you say in America died of an overdose but he used to claim that "the man who introduced Methadone to Australia apologised". There is a reason patients can increase their dose (only by small increments at a time). If they are going through a 'trigger phase' they may need more to reduce cravings. When they are coping well they often choose to reduce. I've stayed alive 10 extra years by raising/dropping my dose.

Things are not as easy in the US,,,Ur right about the reason for uping doses, reducing cravings,,, but most that I know in America keep uping their doses just because they can, until they are no longering able to do anythig other than sleep all day, nodding out. The whole reason I started this topic orignially was just to say how more addictive Methadone is than HEROIN,. They both kill, especially if mixed with ZANAX, VALIUM or Alcohol
@woodrowpass Absolutely true and I'll second your point there. Is there no limit to how high they can raise their doses in America? I know that if I raise mine by 10mg (1ml) that's considered a very large increase & as high as a 'stable' patient may persuade a doctor to put them up. It gives me a small buzz for about an hour after consumption but then not much else (i don't mix with tablets). After a week, I don't get that buzz any more. I would be at square one only with longer withdrawal tbc

I know a guy who did that until he reached Australia's cut off point of 200mg (40ml - I got the math wrong on mine sorry 1ml is 5mg. Here we dose by mg). He functioned completely normally because he was immune to the massive dose but god help him if he ever had a severe injury as no pain killer would work due to his tolerance. It's the ppl I see mixing doses w/pills that appear almost brain dead.

normally drugs are associated with poverty and misery,(appart from the odd yuppie) i can honestly say that if i had a comfortable lifestyle where money was not a issue then i would never want to even think about drugs when you can buzz from the nice holidays,cars,clothes,homes etc etc,iam ashamed to say that i was on heroin for 10 years and it was the lack of prospects and a grim lookig future that made me and plenty like me turn to that evil lifestyle,ive been clean now since august 08,rip amy.

that being said, nothing MAKES you take drugs unless someone actually ties you down and forces them on you. i smoke pot and drink alcohol, and smoke cigarettes when i drink. no one has ever forced me. i made a conscious decision every time to do it.

@Allen10579 Yes,,,more experience with Methadone than could ever think. Allen, Im not against you but rather against a drug which is worse the Herion itself. I personally know that if a personhappened to be locked up,, he will detox from Herion in 3 to 5 days, according to how severe his usage was. But if a man gets locked up and lets say he is on 80 miligrams of Methadone, he will be detox very hard for a couple weeks. Plus the addict is allowed to up his own dose by simple asking, thats sick.

@woodrowpass Another thing, Methadone builds up in the system, so after you have been taking it for a little while, you can miss up to two days with out feeling like crap, I've got a little more news for ya, Heroin withdrawls can last like 6 weeks, not 3 to 5 days. and they can kill you, at least methadone people are monitored, piss tested once a week, see a dr all the time, and you start coming down slowly when you are ready, and why is it sick for the addict to want to up his dose? cont>

Heroin withdrawals last 3-5 days though text books say up to 7 days. Lasting effects like depression from lacking enough natural mood boosting opiates can last 6 months or more. Methadone withdrawal is what lasts up to 6 weeks though I've had friends who claim jumping off doses over 60mg took them 6 months to get over. Amy was a Speed Fiend anyway

@ShayLee0501 continued, My Herion habit was over 1500.00 "US" a day. In US, Methadone is distributed in clinics for $15.00 per day,not as much in Pharmacys, though doctors can perscribe it. Junkies show up a the doors and there is opening and closing, usually 3 to 5 hours a day only, according to what city and owner.
Oh well, Im clean and free from Methadone and went back to herion to do so, slowly decreasing my intake then kicked the final stages using zanax, Now nothin enters my body.

@woodrowpass Medically I think you did it the right way. Do they have Buprenorphine (Subutex) there? That's much easier to get off than Methadone. Wow, $15 per day? It's $5 per day here though I know one lovely old man who dispenses it from his chemist (pharmacy) for $1 per day. You are much stronger than I am. I never lasted more than 4 days on a 'cold turkey' withdrawal. I really admire what you did for those 80 days! For me it was always stuff up, wean off legal substitues, stuff up, repeat.

@woodrowpass The addict asks for his dose to be raised because he is not on the proper dose yet so that he doesn't get dope sick through the night, Methadone DOES NOT get you high, repeat DOES NOT GET YOU HIGH! also once you are on a decent dose say between 60 and 80 mgs there is an opiate blocker in it, so like it or not, if you are on methadone and on the proper dose you can't get high on anything that is opiate, I can say 100% that I would be dead right now if not for Methadone.

@Allen10579 There's no opiate blocker. Methadone doses above 60mg or so just boosts your opiate tolerance so high you can't afford to buy enough smack to get you high. If you could afford to buy enough, it would turn to sludge & take more than a standard 1ml syringe to dilute/inject, which would be a buzz killer. I know a guy who spent $1500 before he could feel a hit once. He had a big work payout & a 195ml per day methadone script. Methadone CAN get you TRASHED if you keep raising the dose.

My teenage sweetheart or "baby daddy" as you say in America died of an overdose but he used to claim that "the man who introduced Methadone to Australia apologised". There is a reason patients can increase their dose (only by small increments at a time). If they are going through a 'trigger phase' they may need more to reduce cravings. When they are coping well they often choose to reduce. I've stayed alive 10 extra years by raising/dropping my dose.

Things are not as easy in the US,,,Ur right about the reason for uping doses, reducing cravings,,, but most that I know in America keep uping their doses just because they can, until they are no longering able to do anythig other than sleep all day, nodding out. The whole reason I started this topic orignially was just to say how more addictive Methadone is than HEROIN,. They both kill, especially if mixed with ZANAX, VALIUM or Alcohol

@woodrowpass Absolutely true and I'll second your point there. Is there no limit to how high they can raise their doses in America? I know that if I raise mine by 10mg (1ml) that's considered a very large increase & as high as a 'stable' patient may persuade a doctor to put them up. It gives me a small buzz for about an hour after consumption but then not much else (i don't mix with tablets). After a week, I don't get that buzz any more. I would be at square one only with longer withdrawal tbc

I know a guy who did that until he reached Australia's cut off point of 200mg (40ml - I got the math wrong on mine sorry 1ml is 5mg. Here we dose by mg). He functioned completely normally because he was immune to the massive dose but god help him if he ever had a severe injury as no pain killer would work due to his tolerance. It's the ppl I see mixing doses w/pills that appear almost brain dead.
