The closest America has EVER come to being a FASCIST state occurred during the BUSH JR years. The loss of civil rights in the name of national security and the merging of government and corporate interests eroded the very principles that made this country great. I have always suspected that this iteration of izlam that seems to be perpetuating is a marxist type. That is not how most socialists have defined it and that is not historically how it was meant. Its original definition was for workers not the state to control the means of production. It has been diluted by statists to meaning a whole host of ideas. Fascism has meant overall and I think still to this day when big business and the state combine.
