  • Are those dead ones under the live ones?

  • This video is VERY interesting and creative!!!!!

  • Awesome the plant growed in a twist way

  • Very cool I like how the growth point slowly moved left toward the left side of the pot

  • I was wondering, do you remove the bug carcasses after the plant has eaten them?

  • What's the song ?

  • What's the song ?

  • that's one seriously healthy looking plants! mine plants usually only have 8 ~ 12 leafs at any given time

  • the traps of my plant always die when it catches a bug :(

  • that is one healthy happy plant that is very lucky to have an owner like you

  • Isn't it nature awesome?

  • why it seems the plant move along the video from the middle to the left.

  • didn't you take out the dead flowers? NICE FLY TRAP

  • P.S. AWESOME TIMELAPSE

  • Im trying to do a time-lapse with my current VFT (flowering) but I keep moving the camera and it distorts the image.

(And im NOT cutting off the flower. I want seeds tso I can sell seedlings)

  • anyone notice how the center of the plant moved? awesome!

  • I have a venus flytrap, and i know that they have a flower somewhere about spring.

And if this is 1 year then we should see a flower growing!

  • @ivancekx the venus flytrap doesn't bloom every year... but this spring there were 6 flowers and the flytrap split into two, I got about 100 seeds ;)

  • I have a venus flytrap, and i know that they have a flower somewhere about spring.

And if this is 1 year then we should see a flower frowing!

  • just wondering,,, i have had mine for about 4 days, and it is like really slow about diggesting ? and how comes that some of the plant "mouths" sometimes grow inside each other does it mean anything`?

  • this is unbeleievably awesome.

  • it grew an offshoot :D

  • nicely done. :D

  • mine is inside and does not smell...

  • @emc201983--I just bought a tiny one in a plastic case that can be used as a terranium, but it has a smell like an insecticide. Does yours have that smell? It appears that you have yours outside. Mine is inside and it scents up the whole room.

  • i had a venus flytrap that kept growing traps with its leaves curled outward makeing the trap unable to close when i tryed feeding it i ended up loseing it when i left in the direct sunlight for a week and burned it up was wondering why the traps kept growing that way

  • under 10.000 views after 2 years? WTF?

  • don`t u have to cut the dried parts of the plants? sry for my bad english but i`m just wondering ^^*

  • @japabiklmuk

Yup, you have to remove the "black mouths", the dead mouths of the plant. It's normal to some mouths to die.

  • very interesting movement of the plant. At the beginning in the middle of the flower pot, one year later left by the seam.

  • Is that all the same plant? Or does each individual "trap" belong to an individual plant?

  • holy, that is a big vft

  • AMAZING

  • How do you do that? I mean, i have bought many of them, but they all die in some weeks ... How much water, how big pot? Please help me!! Do i have to take out the ugly old traps?

  • @Xyonon flytrapcare(dot)com Make sure that you're watering with rain water, distilled water or reverse osmosis water ONLY. Never tap water, as there are too many minerals in it that will kill the plant. Also, make sure that it's planted in peat moss, with perlite or silica sand. Anything enriched, like Miracle Grow will also kill the plant because all the extra nutrients will burn the roots.

  • What did you do with the dead venus fly traps?

  • nice job! love the timecode and music choice.

  • was this 1 seed?

  • is it better to prune your venus fly trap or just leave it like that

  • this is one of the greatest videos on youtube.

  • @winnabego thanks!

  • @emc201983 HOW did you get the plant to be so successful?????

  • @emc201983 I wanna set up these planets next to my trash bends.....I hate bugs!!!

  • very nice man. I've tried to do a timelapse, but I get impatient and move the plant and lose the whole effect. Great work and a lot of patience. Looks like towards the end of the vid the plant was getting increased amounts of sunlight, making me think it's during the summer, I hope that it's now in dormancy otherwise you may lose it due to stress. Great job tho!

  • @maddcatone my plant never got dormacy since about 10 years, i dont know how the plant deals with this, but i dont want to change anything in her life ;-)

  • @emc201983 Oh wow! If that's the case then I recommend dividing it, cause you might have a beneficial mutation in the species. I would love to have flytraps that didn't all shrivel away at the end of the summer.

  • not bad mate i think the music fits perfectly and its weird how the plant moved in its pot to the left. did you not have to put it into dormancy to keep it alive?

  • @MrAcronim Thanks! No, my plant was never in dormacy!

  • cool

  • Great work

  • you could probably propagate (split) this plant now.....

    its gotten really big!

  • you could probably propagate this plant now.....

    its gotten really big!

  • man, i was waiting for the flower where the seeds appear

  • cool. you should put som time-lapse viz to gether to mak the plat seem like its talking lol =^-^=

  • how mane of them do you have and its cool.

  • Whitch camara/programm did you use?

  • @DragonsMay Aurora Ontario?

  • cool!

  • WOw.. amazing plant.. ours only make about 3-4 mounts every year!

  • Where did you by your VFT? Could you please tell me please please please.

  • @Snakefang284 go to flytrapstore com, they have seeds and actual flytraps, pitcher plants, sundews, and other type of carnivorous plants. Educate yourself first before buying because it will drive you crazy when you're trying to find the supplies to start from scratch, but that store has it all.

  • guay

  • Looks awesome when you move the player even faster with your mouse

  • did your VFT ever flower or did u stop it from flowering

  • U hav alot of VFTs. tip u should cut out the dead 1z. That keeps all the rest healthy r.

  • what a happy plant... i wish mine grew like that

  • a year an no flower growth how long do these things take to grow a flower?

  • hey can you give me some tips on how to grow these i realy want to learn how to grow them i live in las vegas is there any stores i can get them at ?

    thanks

  • Get a bigger pot and clip off the dead traps :x

  • Wheres the flower?

  • crece y crece y no para de crecer no mames como le hicistee?

  • wow these are some cool vids

  • That's pretty awesome. I've always wanted one... I got to try and take care of a couple for my biology class, but I failed miserably... :\ good thing it wasn't for a grade. What do they eat besides insects? Can you give them a piece of raw meat if there's a lack of insects around? Or would I have to go to my pet store and pick up some crickets?

  • @Fragacide they will lose their traps with raw meat. insects are definitely best. .. slugs are eaten by mine a lot without problem

  • @Piranhaboy01 Well in my area catching insects isn't exactly fun, and I don't care all that much to bother, however crickets at my local pet store are fairly cheap. I'm guessing those should be perfectly fine... are they ok to be eaten dead? Cuz I don't wanna have to try and catch one of those suckers alive, even if it is in a box.

  • @Fragacide they are fine to be eaten dead. you might have to wiggle the insect a small bit to stimulate the trap to close then tug on a leg to continue the process. flytraps will close to trap and then close some more if the insect doesn't escape

  • The Beach >> Moby ?

  • u know some how i think i should buy one of these and bring it to china because lots of fly at china =D

  • 1000 views!!

  • Well done. I think I am going to get one. I had one when I was a teenager and it lasted a while. Now I have heaps of indoor plants. Get work, and I am glad you stuck with it. It was interesting to watch the crown of the plant migrate across the pot.

  • Plz can someone help me? whats happening to my venus fly trap? ( I didnt buy it with roots and soil, I took it from a store :-) , so my VFT is turning yellow. The other day it started to turn red from the top of the mouth. My VFT is without roots, so im not very surprised to see it die.)

  • @Donciulis don't worry about the roots. even when in full growth, they still only have a few hair-like roots. Just make sure the bulb is always in very wet moss and put the plant in the sun. You will be amazed what it grows like then. The red color will appear on all the traps. look at my vids and you'll see

  • Excellent video!!

  • Hehe I just come to your videos to listen to this music! Nice vid, too.

  • cool videos man! =D great! il subscribe =D. I hav only one question: do you let them to hibernate? and if yes for how long/

  • Mad3InRomania, Without dormancy your plant will grow much slower. After a couple years it will die from exaustion. IF you live in a place that it doesent get colder than 20 degrees farenhieght, then you can grow them out doors in full sun and durring fall (now they will begin going dormant. In late febuary to mid march they will begin coming out of dormancy. Check out Sarracenia North west. Free care shhets and awsome plants for good prices. I orderd bedore an its always good.

  • well, my plant is about 8 years old and never hat dormacy...

it grows very fast and now its even going to bloom...

by the way: i just cut off 12 leaves and got 9 new plants from them...

  • Really?? Does yours slow down in growth durring winter at all? Congrats on the leaf cuttings :D I Get my new plants through rhimzone division.

  • yes, it slows down and makes smaller traps and they are less red, then in summer

  • Cool, what temps do you keep yours in durring winter? Mine often experience freezing temps but come back in spring just fine.

  • Mine is placed on the windowsill near the radiator, so i think its getting warmer in winter then it is in summer ;-)

i often thought about putting them in a cool place, but i think thats ok for them, because they grow very well ;-)

  • You certainly have the results to prove it!! :D

  • @emc201983 errm...if they turn black or brown,do we need to cut it off?

  • @emc201983 is your VFT still alive?

  • @lilljeklop Yes, its still alive and growing

  • @emc201983 Everybody is talking about this dormancy thing, but does your VFT really need dormacy?

  • My VFT never hat dormacy!

  • @emc201983 tbh it is gonna die soon, or at least not grow to its potential. try staying up for a couple days and then playing football in the rain

but nice vids dude. what program did you use to make the movie??

  • @emc201983 yea it did cooloer temps even just 20 temps lower will make dormancy

  • @stephenBquick If it doesnt have a dormancy period (which it uses to replenish its energy and grow the rhizome under the compost) it will probably die after 3 or 4 years.

  • thats badass, I just bought one today, so its a tiny plant. I see in the vid that you use house flys. Im going to feed those to my plant

  • Is it 1 pic per day?

  • yes

  • 365 pics,nice,:P

  • does each little mouth thing have to have a feed in order to stay alive?

  • Just 1 bug each week is plenty on any trap.

  • how did you make the timelaps?

  • Take a pic every day then put them together? IDK I've never done it, haha.

  • Nice vid!

  • Nice vid!

  • what happened with all the traps that died at the end?

join the flytrapcare . com community!!!

  • i remove them sometimes...

  • i meant why did they die?

  • because the traps can only close 3 or 4 times and then they are useless for the plant...

they also have a limited lifetime without catching something, thats normal

  • yea i know that, i have a few myself. it just looked strange how it lost 1/3 of its traps in like a week.

Join The flytrapcare . com forums!!!

  • nono, thats not in one week, that was in about one month in winter... thats the same every year ;-)

  • so cool
