  • Bonjour, comment tap elle u?

  • At 3:08 it should be nous mangons shouldn't it?

  • @MikeyMcN123 no, you put e in with mangeons with change

  • @ForsakenLiez But i thought u take off er?

  • @MikeyMcN123

Iit's "nous mangeons". If you writte "mangons", it sounds [g] like in the word goal. It's a difficulty of the G letter :

g+a or g+o or g+u = the G sounds like in word goal

g+e or g+i or g+y = the G sounds like in word genius (but without the d before the g)

g+e+a or g+e+o = the G sounds like in word genius

g+u+e or g+u+i or g+u+y = the G sounds like in word goal

The G letter sounds an other sound too, like in mignon.

Sometimes, you don't say it like in poing.

  • @holitoo ok merci

  • i had a damn german teacher teaching french

  • Wonderful video. I had tried to learn French in school, but with the teachers I had, it wasn't working out well. :C

  • I tried to watch a movie in french... I had to stop after 20 seconds.

they speak so fast while we speak slow motion in our class.

  • @MrSkidooguy1 dayum, my english was horrible, let me rephrase it ''I tried to watch a french movie and had to pause it after 20 seconds, they speak soooo fast, it makes my french class look like we're speaking in slow motion''

    now, is dat good?

  • I always think that French language is sexy, so does a man who speaks French. Almost got married to a French :). I've been try to learn how to speak French but haven't successed yet :(

  • Dude, thank you for this, our french teacher really suck at learning us french, and i really like this thank you!!!!!!!!

  • @sheni93 Hi , im french:) and Vous is the polite form of Tu.

So you would want to say Vous to a person you do not know or talking to older people. Just a mark of respect. Like talking to your boss..

'Tu' is more friendly, you can say Tu to friends family or to people that told you ''Tu peux me tutoyer''

Tutoyer is the act of saying 'tu' to a person

Vouvoyer is the act of saying Vous to a person.

    J'espère t'avoir aidé:)

  • @yanirawr J'aime peuple français. Elles sont si belles!:)

  • Love it love it

it help me a lot thanck u dude =)

  • @sheni93 As well as 'tu' being singular and 'vous' being plural, which has already been mentioned in a response, 'vous' should also be used when addressing a singular person in a respectful or formal manner such as when you're talking to an elder, a boss/potential employer or an authority figure.

  • Thank you so much for posting.. i am challenging myself to learn a new language. And french it is..

  • @sheni93 Vous is when you were talking to more than one person, and tu is when you were talking to one person. :)

  • try languageportal.web.com

  • @FilzSkillz

    but normallly i speak a pretty good english,i've been in england(great accent^^)

and in america to train my english, and i can talk with other english and they understand me,so i think i'm good in english(if i've done faults say me)

  • @FilzSkillz oh yes!!

    i can't think i've really wrote learn^^

    thanks for the correction!

    i'm sorry,that's an insult to your language!^^

  • @YaShuOi aahha il te reste quand même à faire quelques efforts!

On dit une vidéo donc :cette vidéo est bonne

  • @supernerd707 'il' it's when the person is alone,"ils" its when there's 2 persons or more examples:

    il est seul (he's alone)

il sont plusieurs (there are many)

Hey!I'm only 13 and I learn French to English people ^^

  • @tactic13013 Just thought I would correct you, you would say "I teach French to English people"

  • yeah i honestly cannot hear the difference between il and ils. Never understood it even in grade school, probably why I did so poorly

  • Cette video est bon. Se peut un peu meilleur (mon avis)

Si vous voulez etudier le francais, etudiez-le dans une classe.

Il aidera beaucoup! Je l'ai etudie quand j'avait 12 ans et je suis le etudie dans le lycee auissi.

    :)

(idk how to add the accents lol and I'm sure I got some grammar errors but hey! I'm still learning :))

  • There is two we's and two you's ughh more confusing

  • YOU = Vous OR Tu ? this is confusing

  • @ROCKXXSTAR1 Vous is for when you are speaking to a group of persons. "Vous mangez." - you eat. But it's also a polite/formal form. When a student is talking to their teacher, for example. You use only "tu" when you want to use a familiar form, for friends or family member for example. Hope it helped!

  • @StrikeChan Thanks, yeah it helped.. one more thing , what about ( toi ) ? is it too informal

  • @ROCKXXSTAR1 It's also a more or less informal form. You say 'J'ai besoin de toi' - I need you. But when you use the formal one, it's with 'vous' again. 'J'ai besoin de vous'

  • @ROCKXXSTAR1 It is friendly. It means ''yours'' the non formal way

  • thank you so much for uploading this video. i'm taking french next year and also i'm going to europe. i'm not that good with languages and this video was just so simple i'm pretty confident for this year thank you :)

  • Going to Paris with my cousins next summer! Goodbye and can't wait! Au Revoiur. Sorry about the spelling...

  • Just about all the letters are silent D:

  • lol. press 6 over and over and it sounds like 'meh'.

  • Very fine lesson

  • thanks =) my first words in french :D

  • Two semesters of Spanish and now it is easier for me to understand. Why can't English be as easy as these languages?

  • @phillyguy95 because english is the most complicated of languges (besides the asian ones) with all these weird rules that go along with pronounciation

  • I really like this video :)

  • It´s easier if you have spanish as you natural leguage (:

    Problem??

  • I use similar tactics for teaching my online french classes. This is a good video!

  • Why in Je mange DU (de le) poisson

but in Elle mange UNE salade?

Can you explain the different use of DU and UNE in virtually these two virtually same sentences? Merci

  • @lisajason111 because you are refering to fish in general, "I eat fish". it's what one generally does vs. what one is actually doing at the moment and you are refering to fish in a plural sense. In the salad example she is eating ONE specific salad at the moment. If the sentence were "She eats salads" it would be "Elle mange de la salade" (of course it isn't "du" because "salade" is feminine but same idea)

  • @lisajason111 Salut, tu peux aussi dire :

-> je mange un poisson : je mange du poisson ( " du poisson " signifiera que le poisson sera préparé afin d'être mangé )

-> je mange une salade : je mange de la salade ( " de la salade " signifiera que tu mange juste de la salade ( beurk^^ ). " Une salade " signifiera qu'elle est préparé pour être mangé. Je sais c'est très étrange, même moi étant français je trouve ça difficile à expliquer^^.

  • @lucasthebestt merci beaucoup,

  • I wouldn't eat anything with poisson ;)

  • how come mange, manges and mangent sound the same

  • @TheMahlyenkidyavol just because of the way the french pronounce endings to words. usually consonants at the end of a word are not pronounced.

  • You say you don't like two vowels following each other, yet "elle aime" and "tu aimes" are in the exact same case as "j' aime". So much for the logic.

  • @neeMeroTh Why nto simply askteh question, sintead of attacking? it's stupid to give out comments like that.

  • has anybody gone to their page jefrench.com and register? is it good?

  • Watch~."Movies,.;Online,';Here'".

  • why this language is so hard i wanna to learn it sooo bad its so lovely and romantic

  • @smsmsmsm66 its not so hard once you learn the formula, and then are able to convert the "formula" to the new words you use. just like bar tending...you only have to change one part of the formula to make it apply to another. keep practicing, dont rush it. best of luck.

  • no, all for write a "elle" lool

  • 1) Tu and Vous = you **BUT** Tu is used when speaking informally, to your peers, friends, etc. Vous is used when addressing a more formal figure, it used when showing respect to someone. for example, a teacher, parents, boss, elders, etc.

    2) Nous=us/we but On= one. For example, "when one goes to the movies, one usually buys popcorn" "When we go to the movies, we usually buy popcorn" .... make sense kinda?

  • tell me the difference between On and Nous ?

  • @supernotstarable Nous means we, On refers to basically them. Like elles is they used for females, ils is they used for males, but on is describing more than one person without a specific gender.

  • Vous and tu means you?

  • Oh man why is french so hard?

  • i wana learn french.

  • ooooh no mangeons. i see....

  • :).... i have to say that french is similar to spanish , good 4me!! x)

  • tis is super cool

  • this is sooo diffrent then japanese!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think it's important for beginners to learn to distinguish between tu and vous.

  • I am a Spanish and English teacher but I would really love to learn French, could someone help me out? I would love to do a language exchange, we could chat through skype and have fun.

  • Pourquoi voudrais-je apprendre le français quand je sais comment il parle déjà.

  • @jdreic Petite réctification. C'est "Pourquoi voudrais-je apprendre le français alors que je sais déjà le parler"

"alors que" peut être remplacé par "puisque"

  • very sexy language ............

  • There's a difference between Elle and Elles right o-o ?

  • @SunnieChi elles is plural

  • @SunnieChi There is nothing in the way it's said but verbs with Elles and Ils are conjugated differently. Ils is plural either all boys or a boys and girls mix, Elles is all girls.

  • @SunnieChi yes, elle is one ;

  • @SunnieChi

    Elle - singular

    Elles - plural

  • @SunnieChi elle is girl elles is they but they would be a group of girls

  • @SunnieChi

Elle is she, and Elles is they (all females)

  • @SunnieChi ddd elles means plural elle is singular.

  • @SunnieChi yeah!! lol

  • how do you know whether to use 'on' or 'nous' when you're saying 'we'? does it not matter which one you use?

  • @eltonj4ever You can actually use both. French people tend to use on a lot.

  • @eltonj4ever I think "on" is more general........

  • @eltonj4ever "On" is technically "one," or "it." At least that's the way I understand it. It's always grouped with il and elle in conjugation. (il/elle/on: he/she/it,one). But it is used as "we" in sentences such as "Où est-ce qu'on va?" (Where are we going?). I would guess that literally translates to "Where is it that one goes?" That's the best I can figure it. But I'm only first year.

  • @eltonj4ever 'ON' is like saying one, like: one likes to do this, 'NOUS' is WE or US... WE like to draw... u knw?

  • @eltonj4ever 'On' is more informal and is used more often. Whereas 'Nous' is less commonly used but would be more appropriate for formal situations

  • this is sooo difficult compared to spanish

i mean like all the nonpronounced letter and what's pronounced where! its hard!

  • Its verry easy, but it sucks in the school -.-

  • Thank you so much for posting. i love the French language and I want to learn it!!!

  • i wish i would have thought to look this up this mornig, we had a test in French on conjugation i failed because i got Nous and ils endings for -er verbs

  • 'le' is for masculine words and 'la' is for feminine words ... and 'number' is a musculine word in french ... nouns gender are hard to remember in french ull just have to know it by heart !

  • I already take French class at school..

  • Btw. What is the diffrence between le and la. And if the word was. For example. Le nombres. Why isn't it la nombres. Please answer!

  • @DisneyAnimeNetworks Every noun has a gender in French. It's a grammatical gender (male or female). We always learn new nouns with their article, so that we learn the gender at the same time. Le bateau (m), la voiture (m): the boat, the car.

  • @nun99twist La voiture est au féminin, vous avez iduit cette personne en erreur lol. Bravo sur cette belle vidéo, le fraçais est une belle langue qui doit être enseigné.

  • Comment removed

  • Tres bien monsieur!.... Oh. Comment tapelles tuh ?...... Jemappelle crystal. Et toi?

Je suis de américaine .... Et toi?

    Au revoir!

  • at 3:22 I was picturing someone say to... say for example some artist or something, that he really really likes them, as in their music and stuff, and keeps saying emphatically how much he likes them and they would be like 'is he hitting on us'? =))

  • I learned french in highschool; really tried to study it; I SUCK AT IT; I'm hoping listening to this stuff instead of music on my iPod will allow me to build upon my prior knowledge and thus ... actually speak french... that would be like a dream come true for me... if it works with this.... I'll do the same with german.... another language I studied (this one in elementary school) and suck at it...hell, I know as much german as I know... for example polish from the 1 holiday I spent in poland

  • ce n'était pas ce que j'ai demandé.

  • Parfait dans les eux langues!

    Perfect in both languages!

    Perfekt in..... nah!

  • I love this video i'm taking i at school. I love French!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Non j'aime pas le foot.

  • @Skeetos I think it's Non, je n'aime pas le foot;

if you're a native speaker than sorry

  • @bbphnix I'm a native speaker i'm living in Paris but it was just a joke... don't worry everything is correct.

  • thank you for posting.

  • omg i love the voice

  • wow the pronunciation and accent this person uses are nearly flawless in english and french =O

  • Je vous aime plus que la tarte :)

  • like

  • Hey in French the "ll" is it pronuce " i " like in spanish??

  • @thetrales Yup! , EE-LUH!

  • @thetrales My Spanish is not that good but I don't think so.

  • @thetrales no it's not ll it's ille fille but in some words it's pronounced just the way it is such as ville

  • @thetrales Yes. In Spanish, "Yo" means "I". And it is highly similar to the "Je" pronunciation in French. Both languages again are romance and rather similar. Take some words for example, "Elephant", "universal", "automatic"...these sound almost the same in both Spanish and in french. Except, again, that french has a sort of sway to the way they speak, a kind of smoothness to the words.

  • @thetrales are u talking about the double L? no, its pronounced more like a y sometimes(bouillabaise), sometimes its silent( feuilleton), or sometimes you pronounce it like an L (elle)

  • @thetrales Are you talking about "il"? the pronoun "he". yeah, the "i" is pronounced like the "i" in spanish. but you also pronounce the L.

  • @thetrales No, When Spanish people say i it sounds monotone.

  • @thetrales No it's not, its pronounced like ILES or eelll.

  • @thetrales No, the "ll" is just pronounced "l"; it doesnt make the "y" sound.

  • @thetrales no it's pronounced like eel

  • I just use google translator :)

  • SUPER!

  • @TimmyJr360 Parlez-vous français

  • @thetrales

i noticed now lol, french is so damn hard!

  • je suis magne poisson!

  • @Varcalox je mange du poisson

  • i find french difficult as the words u need to pronouce properly.....but this video really helps:) learning/trying:tagalog,myanmese,japanese improving on:mandarin/english.

  • has anyone gone 2 the website?

  • lol Salut ca va? Do you know how to speak french

  • @TimmyJr360 oui:)

  • How would you go about remembering whether certain nouns are feminine or masculine?

  • @euch27 When you learn the word, you learn the gender as well with the artcile. Le train, la voiture. The train, the car.

  • @euch27 A nice little tip when youre starting out is, if youre not sure, check if the word ends with e. If it does its most likely feminine.

  • My tongue hurts. LOL

  • very good!

  • ty very good video

  • French... for what ive heard... its a liar language... It has too many silence T___T

  • I like French, it's much better than English! Thanks for this lesson!

  • d'accord....I thought that 'on' meant one. Like 'on mange' would be 'one eats'. Non??

    J'etudie le francais a l'ecole.

  • @yoitsbrennan Nope, one means: Un

  • @TsSteakk actually.... the pronoun "on" is extremely versatile. It has several meanings. It may mean one, we, or they depending on how it is used. "on" can replace an indefinite person.. which is I believe what yoitsbrennan meant... i.e. "On ne sait jamais" (ONE can not please everyone)

  • @coqueteochica sorry.. on ne sait jamais means ONE never knows :-P (see what happens when I'm a smarta**!)

  • @coqueteochica um im actually from france born raised in france and ''on'' doesnt mean ''ONE'' its mean like u said ''we'' ... so (on ne sait jamais) mean ( we never know) simply :)

  • very helpful, but when u went to all the pural and junk i didnt get it lol. ill keep trying though!

    :)

  • Thanks :D

  • manger aimer

  • hey thanks.....

  • That was superr helpful ! thnxx

    2lori ...HS ? wuts that

  • How is one supposed to distinguish in conversation whether someone is saying they love somethi
