Have you thought about using livescribe pen. You will have to sync you pen to the desktop companion.

How well would this work if one was taking notes on the iPad without a desk? I do a lot of note-taking on nothing more than my lap, so I'm wondering if the folder can fold in half. The spine looks awful sturdy and firm and I'm worried it might be awkward to use this case without a full desk in front of me.
