  • Kelly Rowland and Vivica Fox??? hmmm

  • And just like everyone who doesn't belong, we have always been the odd people out, ostracized for looking and being so different by the races we gave birth too, especially and including the white race. Smh.

  • @TheHoeDownTV True.

  • I think they are knocking the wrong people. Many ladies feel pressure to wear it due to a Eurocentric society that forces you to conform to that norm and for black womyn, it is made worse by the fact that our looks are judged harshly by just virtue of being womyn, period, let alone being forced to conform to a beauty standard that nowhere includes our Afro natural African beauty. It is not you all's fault. It is the media' fault. We have a natural hair texture no other race has.

  • some natural hair sisters love to talk about (self hatred because certain blacks chemically alter their hair) but seem to leave out other races who also chemically treat their hair. i have friends of other races who perm and relax their hair as well.

  • I think weaves are stupid in most cases just because some ladies don't consider if the weave is believeable or not. Silky straight Asian hair down to the booty.......really! If the weave is believeable I say rock on!! As for relaxers....to each is on, but if it is taking your hair out...find another way.

  • Lol @ that twitter comment at 7.33!

  • I definitely think that women should wear their hair the way they want - whether that be relaxed or natural. However, there is something to be said of the large amount of African American women that hate their natural texture. It's a matter of why you prefer it straight. If you relax your hair so that you won't make others feel uncomfortable or stand out, that's when self-hatred plays a role in your hairstyle choice.

  • I'll say this again: Do whatever makes you happy with YOUR hair. Even though I am natural, I really don't care what other people do to their hair. It is just hair. In the scheme of things, it is pretty trivial.

  • I've been natural a long time and I think it is a choice. I think we have tremendous self hate in our community because the first style anyone Black White or Red should consider is a natural hairstyle.

  • I totally agree with u ladies that in the end of the day they are just hairstyles. Some just carry more ancestrial weight than others.Whether it be short& natural, an afro, braided, dreadlocks, relaxed, dyed, weaves, or wigs theyre just hairdos &they cant automatically be connected2 self hate in the case of evry female.

Now with that said,if Michelle Obama decided2 cut her hair &go short & natural it would literally send shockwaves thru American society that would be felt in every AA household.

  • Nappy headed hoes lol Don Imus

  • @aprildh504- yes... I just watched a product review vid on the tangle teezer... So it really works? Guess I'm going to Sally's because I can't spend 4 hours on my hair again.... From Kia

  • Girl you better go to Sally's and purchase a tangle teezer. 4 hrs? Shid! Ok seriously, it cut down the time I spent to detangle my hair. Great video, great points!

  • @ActressAngie - Hey angie... Where have you been hiding? What is "thermal-laxing?" From Kia

  • @NewKiTV Hey Kia girl! thermal-laxing is pretty much what people would call heat damaged hair. All you have to do is, if you're wearing your hair natural, you simply apply heat to it biweekly or weekly and it "trains" the hair to become straight without actually applying the chemical relaxer to straighten it. The prefect example of a heat damaged or thermal-laxed hair is DPrincess28 and Brittanynic16.

  • I agree with you both. I am currently natural and have been for almost 3 years now. I love my hair & I celebrate my hair by embracing all styles. For instance, I have been relaxed most of my life but now, at 23 years old, I'm wearing my hair natural but next year I might even try "thermal-laxing" my hair. Who knows? That's what I love about my hair & black hair in general. We can do anything and everything to it & that to me is celebrating our hair.

  • Don't put 3 bulks of weave either ( just fool me ) .LMAO !!

  • As a natural I'm always promoting positivity. We want to encourage natural hair (only if a person is comfortable with that). It just tears me up to see the division among us re: natural vs relaxed. I've been relaxed for most of my life and never judge a natural and now that I'm natural I don't judge my relaxed sisters. I love that we can switch it up one advantage we have as African Amer women. I hope to see some unity on this matter soon or THEY win.

  • I am from Europe and why is it that we dont care about how a black women wears her hair..We mostly find it beautiful all these differant hairstyles with natural hair.

We dont judge People by there hair..Why is that so??

White america so far as i can see dont wanna see black women on magazine covers or on tv or in higher job position with natural hair..why??

You people are differant here and the question is why?

  • I agree, we have enough problems in our community as is it. We shouldn't allow hair to cause division amongst us.
