  • Oh hahah.. three years ago.. sorry.

  • I don't know if other people have messaged you this, I didn't read all the comments, but your lighting may be causing the issue too. I had the same problem and found out the bulbs I put in were not right for my tank. Good luck.

  • I go 6 hours 45 minutes on a timer. It's perfect

  • I have lots of plants in my aquarium and I use a high voltage lighting but I never get algae growth because I have two large plecos - I recommend getting some they realy help. I would probably get the large ones as they will eat more algae and because you have a large tank/aquarium

  • I think the problem is the phosphates that saturate manciple water. The best way to get it out is through reverse osmosis, but they also make a lot of chemicals and stuff to put you filter to help remove it. The problem with the latter is that whatever they remove the tap water puts back in. Bottled water also doesn't have any phosphates in it, but gets expensive. You can also buy carbon inserts like Chem Pure, that don't have any in it as well. Siamese algae eater will also eat this algae.

  • the answer isnt plecos or water changes or scraping its much simpler its the lighting it looks to me like you need a new less powerfull light setup dont mess with buying a bunch of stuff just lower the watt per gal (wpg) to 2-3 wpg and buy an electric timer for the lights so you dont forget i promise the problem will go away on its own

  • i think that algae can look nice when its long and off the walls.

  • buy some pleco plecostomus they help clean the walls of the fish tank and stuff i have two in my tank and i leave the lights on all night and they do a pretty good job keeping the algae low.

  • it has too much light

  • I say take the ornaments out that have algae on them and give them a really good scrub under warm water (DON'T USE CHEMICALS) then give ur tank a good clean and clean the glass and you should be using algae remover treatments weekly and keep out of direct sunlight. Don't add more than 1 algae eater (not talking about plecos) because they become really aggressive towards each other when they get older.

  • shut your lights off for 36 hours and put a dark blanket on top of the aquarium... algae grows from sunlight so illiminates its source of food. Worked great for me. You can also think of getting a large pleco just to help it out... Let me know

  • hey i got algea that grows over my gravel like a blanket. its thin and slimy (of course :P) if you have any idea what it is please repley :D thanx

  • take a look at your phosphate levels in the tank and your soece water use a phosphate remover like phosban or pura phoslock if the levels are above 0ppm. you never win the battle if youve got even the smallest amount of phosphate present good luck.

  • siamese algae eater and oto cats work best snails are good to but your two loaches will kill em and the multiply like crazy

  • @greencobra200 your better off getting a pleco plecostomus. i have two in my tank with my blue channel catfish and a florida gar. they have thick spiny skin to ward off being eaten.

  • Your problem will be solved as soon as you invest in an Aquarium UV Sterilizer. Any brand would do and an inline version would be most effective if you are running a canister filter. You should look to invest in a 10W at least. Hope this helps!

  • no uv will not kill the algae that is not free flowing, and it can break down trace elements that your plants need. just get a flying fox and a few ottos and u will have no prob! to much fert not enough cleaners shrimp, fish, snails. :)

  • @zerocool212121 my fish eat those shrimp and snails and ottos there too small for my tank i own a florida gar and blue channel catfish, your better off using a pleco plecostomus there bigger and have thick spiny skin.

  • @stangsaleens7 thats great u have those fish but im talkin about THIS tank. ottos have barb fins so they dont become food. plecos damage plants ottos dont ext ext. plz stay on subject every tank is diff so no need to differ. plecos will uproot these more fragile stem plants and not there recomended for most planted tanks. if u have advise this tank then by all means if not theres no need for apples and oranges.

  • @zerocool212121 sorry im just trying to help. my fish eat others.

  • invest in some algae eaters get about 3-4 tht should the job and there not tht expensive

  • ??? aren't you supposed to put mildly amusing videos on youtube?

  • Can't really see the algae well, does it stink? does it grow as a thin covering or is it fuzzy? You might wanna look up BGA, (a cyanobacterium).

If it is, try half doses of erythromycin for several days. One thing I found is keep your tank away from any window giving direct light. I can't tell from your video is this is an issue.

  • i use snails to eat the algae

  • I think the skeleton looks tacky. Would look much better without it.

Sorry you lost all the fish. Deeper substrate would help the plants root better btw.

    Looks nice though!

  • substrate is plenty deep... was, rather. Im now in a 75 gallon tank. Also, just because it isn't your style doesn't make it look tacky. Don't be an arse.

  • @forrestcook The anwser is.......Get A pleco! Or two ok maybe three for your tank.

  • @forrestcook tacky style :(

  • erythromyacin

  • happen to my tank b4

    is call My Goldfish pr.3

  • how did u get algae in your tank

  • why dont you just change the water more often... at least top off your tank.

  • I actually ended up using hydrogen peroxide and it worked like a charm. cheap, too!

  • You Should try API ALGAEFIX this stuff is great I had a green water problem from cleaning all filters at once in 29 gallon tank. The water turned clear in 30 minutes kills algae instantly and it says it doesnt harm fish or plants.

  • u should try seachem flourish excel and try get more plant mass like hc or glosso in the foreground and midground plants

  • i have kubotai too :] best loches

  • dont apologize at all! I appreciate the help. Actually, I had three otos in this tank. I say "had" because my CO2 injection went haywire last night and killed every fish in the tank. So now I have a water plant tank, not a fish tank. I think I'll start buying more fish as soon as I get my regulator fixed.

  • you should think about getting an algae eater, but since you have real plants you shouldn't buy any kind of AE. i would recommend an oto as they are small and don't usually damage plants, they are a shoaling fish so keep them in groups of 3 or more

Note: they only grow 1 1/2 in. and sorry for the long comment.;)
