Rob Hubbard is a brilliant composer. This masterpiece of music programmed into the highly limited C64, it´s such an effort. Just imagine what progressive metal bands like Dream Theater / Liquid Tension Experiment could make it into (if done right). "One Man and His Droid" has all the ingredients necessary, you just need to transcribe it into "real" instruments. And to be a damned skilled musician, of course:-).
If we live in eternally recurring universe, then I can´t wait to experience tunes like this for the first time, again! Thank you Rob Hubbard, truely thank you.
An absolute classic! I used to load this game just to hear the music, I even had a little dance to it but we'll keep that to ourselves won't we boys n girls. Mr Hubbard, the man is a genious.
@pjcnet I remember getting the mastertronic game "The Human Race" for 2 quid, and although the game was very hard, I remember being well impressed with the music!
Dude, I've heard Rob Hubbard's music in some Electronic Arts games (he worked there for a while back then), and I can't get his music from "John Madden Football '92" out of my head. XD
The sound and tunes by Rob Hubbard will forever remind me about how much i loved my c64.. This machine wouldn't be anything without the genious SID programmers/musicians that really mastered it.. When i start to think of it, i really think it was the games with the best tunes i loved most on the 64.. The tunes and the sound FX in the games has actually created more nostalgia for me than the games ever did!
Last heard this over 20 years ago. The SID chip had only 3 channels available - now listen to it again bearing that in mind! 64K also had to be stretched to include the game & soundtrack - nowadays this is barely enough to store a low-res photo! Tetris soundtrack was the best though ;)
This guy is simply a SID chip virtuoso, a genious. You have to be both perfect programmer and great musician to make sounds like this. Really not easy. Thank you, Rob. We owe you.
Weird. I remember this music but not the game. I vaguely remember hearing it during the loading sequence for another C64 game I used to play. Don't remember which, though.

It's been 25 years now and I've still never heard a melody that sounds anything like the main theme here, with the harmony. What a musician!

Oh my god, starting @ 4:10 and concluded to 5:10, that had... or HAS to be the GREATEST video game tune solo I've EVER heard holy craaaap!

great song, but one frustrating game, especially when your 5. Still played the hell out of it. :)

Like others have mentioned here, I remember this from the Space Invaders game that came on while Ghostbusters was loading!
Forgot it was called Invade-A-Load, that brings back memories.
A great tune!

God, so many games had this on their loading screen. I've never even seen the original game, I feel ashamed!

I remember this tune from the Invade-A-Load Space Invaders game that would come up when a Mastertronic game was loading up. Good times.
