  • Rob Hubbard is a brilliant composer. This masterpiece of music programmed into the highly limited C64, it´s such an effort. Just imagine what progressive metal bands like Dream Theater / Liquid Tension Experiment could make it into (if done right). "One Man and His Droid" has all the ingredients necessary, you just need to transcribe it into "real" instruments. And to be a damned skilled musician, of course:-).

  • This was on invade a load

  • This Game was fuckin´ fast !!! Liked it a lot!

  • If we live in eternally recurring universe, then I can´t wait to experience tunes like this for the first time, again! Thank you Rob Hubbard, truely thank you.

  • It's been 25 years now and I've still never heard a melody that sounds anything like the main theme here, with the harmony. What a musician!

  • Oh my god, starting @ 4:10 and concluded to 5:10, that had... or HAS to be the GREATEST video game tune solo I've EVER heard holy craaaap!

  • An absolute classic! I used to load this game just to hear the music, I even had a little dance to it but we'll keep that to ourselves won't we boys n girls. Mr Hubbard, the man is a genious.

@ Manialt. Thanks for the vid.

  • Bad mutha Hubbard!!!

  • great song, but one frustrating game, especially when your 5. Still played the hell out of it. :)

  • Like others have mentioned here, I remember this from the Space Invaders game that came on while Ghostbusters was loading!

Forgot it was called Invade-A-Load, that brings back memories.

    A great tune!

  • I think this is the heaviest C64 song ever, hubbard classic!

  • There's definitely a influence of Jean Michael Jarre in this C64 song :)

  • @djnykk Indeed. :D

  • I love this song so much!

  • This reminds me a bit of Monthy on the run...

  • @pjcnet I remember getting the mastertronic game "The Human Race" for 2 quid, and although the game was very hard, I remember being well impressed with the music!

  • God, so many games had this on their loading screen. I've never even seen the original game, I feel ashamed!

  • @cutmanmike I remember reading an interview some time back that said invader load used that music without permission

  • One word: Eargasm!

  • This is my favourite C64 music. Rob Hubbard is genious.

  • @PeroFotar

Dude, I've heard Rob Hubbard's music in some Electronic Arts games (he worked there for a while back then), and I can't get his music from "John Madden Football '92" out of my head. XD

  • This was a great music to listen while playing Invade-A-Load!

  • The sound and tunes by Rob Hubbard will forever remind me about how much i loved my c64.. This machine wouldn't be anything without the genious SID programmers/musicians that really mastered it.. When i start to think of it, i really think it was the games with the best tunes i loved most on the 64.. The tunes and the sound FX in the games has actually created more nostalgia for me than the games ever did!

  • Sanxion is also a brill piece by Mr Rob Hubbard him self....

  • Don't miss Master of Magic...

  • Last heard this over 20 years ago. The SID chip had only 3 channels available - now listen to it again bearing that in mind! 64K also had to be stretched to include the game & soundtrack - nowadays this is barely enough to store a low-res photo! Tetris soundtrack was the best though ;)

  • This guy is simply a SID chip virtuoso, a genious. You have to be both perfect programmer and great musician to make sounds like this. Really not easy. Thank you, Rob. We owe you.

  • Weird. I remember this music but not the game. I vaguely remember hearing it during the loading sequence for another C64 game I used to play. Don't remember which, though.

  • the good think about invade a load was, you could stop the tape and still play invaders and still enjoy the music.the commodore 64 lives on.

  • This, Commando and Master of Magic are my fav. Rob Hubbard tunes.

  • that boy knew how to max out a SID chip and then some!!! resepect!. x

  • goose bumps... :)

  • This was always my fav C64 tune, thank you very much for posting

  • This is so nice..

  • I remember this tune from the Invade-A-Load Space Invaders game that would come up when a Mastertronic game was loading up. Good times.

  • yeah I always thought the music was far too good for a little space invaders game that was just to entertain when loading up ghostbusters

  • it does fit space invaders a lot better, tho

  • Thanks for this :)

  • Classic tune

Good quality upload, thanks a lot.
